It will experience the same cycle over and over. The only difference from almost 15 years ago is this time there will be a hell of a lot more people. St. Pete is a false paradise trap. A sh*thole that is econimically fragile and always feels the economic blips first. But yeah it canbe/is home. So many other places out there though.

I'm a Milwaukee native who moved to the Bird and initially found things worse than Milwaukee. But now, I have to say, the bird is way more level-headed than my hometown.

They had a Walmart open up about 12 years ago, in the Southside. It closed within a year! Theft by the residents of the Southside and the employees was beyond belief. Look it up! Who would want to a retail business in a black neighborhood? No one with any common sense. And don't use my tax dollars either!

St Pete is NOTHING like L.A., you lost all credibility, such as it was, w/ that sentence. L.A.'s ghettos are at a level that is just about 100 times worse. San Francisco and Portland are not far behind. I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico for some time and there are no gangs and no ghettos. Just a small, undesirable poor part of town, and there is very little of that. Hilo, Hawaii, same thing. Only two or three streets that are low income where crime is at. But again, no gang activity. Belfast, Maine? Safe, little crime and no gangs. You haven't seen much, have you? Not every city has crime and gangs, not by a long shot.

What I'm saying is, 23 years ago when I left LA that place was an over crowded crime ridden dump. Finding employment was really hard and the cost of living was unaffordable. When I came to FL it felt like violent crime didn't even exist even in the so called rough neighborhoods in St Pete, Clearwater, Tampa compared to LA. All I saw was drugs and prostitution far as crime and an abundance of cops everywhere like they over hired. But now 23 years later this city is growing. Traffic and the homeless situation along with cost of living is starting to remind me of Cali 23 years ago. That said Cali has gotten far worse with their homeless situation and cost of living. You stated that I haven't seen much. I'm not sure what that means. No I have not lived all over the US. I lived in and all around the LA area for 21 years and in Florida all through Pinellas county for about 20. I've only traveled and visited a few states in between. Texas AZ NM NV seem like vast desert wastlands where happiness dies and people disappear if you ask me. Complete shit holes
