On paper, it was a successful 2022/23 for Manchester United, they finished 3rd - qualifying for the UCL -and reached two domestic cup finals, winning one of them. However, it feels like the general feeling around the club is that, whilst all of this is progress, there is still a long way to go and Ten Hag and the recruitment team need to be active in the Summer transfer window to ensure this progress continues. This, coupled with the looming takeover rumours, makes for a fascinating window and that's why I wanted to dive into it in this video! I hope you enjoy :)

@@tobyv6087 1. Back in January, we had been linked to Gakpo since the summer of 2022, but our recruitment is shit so he went to Liverpool and scored against us in that 7-0 game. 2. Marcus Thuram was free this summer and the perfect attacking winger/striker we needed. Now he's gone to Inter. 3. Kim Min-jae cost just £40m and we had already been in contact with Napoli, but then our recruitment team fumbled and Kim's now going to Bayern. 4. We were linked with Kane and Osimhen, but our recruitment team is shit. Even though the players want to come to Utd, we can't negotiate with their clubs with any power. 5. Now that we've fumbled our top striker priorities, we're turning to a 20-year old Hojlund with 9 goals last season to be our striker. And fucking Atalanta want £85m for him when he's not worth a cent over £35m. We still need a centre-back because Maguire is shit and Varane is injury-prone, and we only had £120m to spend in the summer. Now that we've paid £60m for Mount (massive robbery) and we're about to pay £50m for Onana, that leaves us £10m to buy both a striker and a centre-back. How do we buy two decent players with £10m?

@@toastedgrapes7961I think Onana and mount will be very solid players. I don’t think any team is getting a starting cm st goalie and back up cb for $120m. They will need to make some sales and get a true starter at st.

Soufian Amrabat is likely the Rabiot alternative for almost 25mil. Also Andre from Brazilian League for around 15mil is also a possibility.

When you're doing these rebuild-episodes, you should move the current manager to assistant manager so they are in charge of the team when you are on holiday!

Mount, Onana and Hojlund are very spot on for what we need this window (and what we seem to actually be getting, which is easier for me to say after mount and onana are pretty much done). Disasi links worry me because he doesnt seem good enough on the ball; would be happer being linked to Todibo who would be available for a similar price

@wilkowanders3805 Ten Hag has just abandoned his principles and has made trash team selections for 2 weeks straight 😭😭😭. we've literally ruined him. refusing to play Bruno centrally, not starting Mount in the left 8, starting Mctominay and Eriksen in games they hardly contribute and NOT subbing them off, taking off Amrabat who is our only DM for whole halves of games, subbing off our new striker when we need to score, and I could honestly keep going. his decision making has fallen off a cliff.

I think ten Hag will revert back to his Ajax tactic, Mount fits perfectly for that, shown more so in his performances for England.

You should do an Inter rebuild if you are open to going abroad. They still haven't recovered from losing conte and with all their financial issues, making it to the CL final, having to sell ot buy, it would be really interesting.

With Mount in as the 8 and if they get a striker United's starting 11 seems very strong, the problem as far as I can see is the massive drop off from the first team, you're going from Casemiro to Scott Mctominay, or Martinez and Varane to Lindelöf and Maguire.

But, Lindeloff with a more competent partner is a different proposition. Need a better cover for Casemiro but, Eriksen and Donny or Fred cover up front. Depth on the wings and possibly keep Martial as No.2 and keep the same system, the 2nd string isn't top bad.

Really good incomings and outgoings. While Hojlund is looking the most likely, I think we should be going for Gonzalo Ramos or even Folarin Balogun instead. Both of them are more proven and Balogun actually profiles very closely with Kane and Osimhen, two of United's initial targets. Also really like the shout of Disasi over Amrabat. We have enough midfielders if one of Fred or McTominay (looking like McTominay) stays, but our injury issues in defense last season were worrying.

Thanks. I agree about Hojlund, I’d maybe be looking at Kolo Muani or there’s been links to Taremi yesterday. With Amrabat, I’d probably think of him as the Rabiot alternative and him or a defender probably depend on who leaves.

Clayts what you should do, in these one year rebuilds, is put the current manager in as the assistant manager and see how they do.

Hey, it might be a good idea to save, do the transfers, go back, and do the transfers with the editor on the original save so the Ten Hag is still the manager without any interruptions. Just the manager and his tactics and team selection to try to be more accurate in the realism.

Yeah I thought about this, but I actually think implementing a properly made recreation of the manager’s IRL tactics is actually better. I should properly recreate the manager myself maybe.

Great video as always Clayts, although, I was hoping for another DOF ep with a live com 😭 As a United fan, these are the transfers I would have made. But can't help but wonder why nobody is looking at Ndidi at Leicester? Maybe a good rabiot alternative? 🤷🏼‍♂️

A Wolves rebuild would offer a challenge. No money, having to sell before they buy, loss of leaders in the dressing room, scored the fewest goals in the league last season. Lots of issues to overcome to make them competitive next season, or even to keep them in the PL.

I would love to see a BVB rebuild, as Bellingham left. Please just don’t spend over 30 mil per player. Our record breaking signing was Dembele for 35 mil, try not to break that! Also we already signed Felix Nmecha and Ramy Bensebaini. Try to compete against Bayern and win the Bundesliga.

If the season that he simulated happened irl, out of CL group stage, out of Europa League to Liverpool, FA Cup to Tottenham, 3rdR exit of Carabao? Football Twitter would be so toxic and Ten Hag would've been fired before the end of the season (I would say approximately by the time he was out of UCL and Carabao). No trophy, No progress some would say. I don't think they would care if we finished 5 points behind the Premier League champions, because that September and October run is so bad fans would want Ten Hags head.
