Cinder was a mare we intercepted in our Buy-Out Program in January. Her behavior during the intake process indicated a possible troubling past. She quickly gained interaction with our vet team after having an incident in the quarantine barn. However, something felt off about Cinder's condition. She received radiographs and a complete blood count (CBC) to find answers to her overall health. Sadly, the results showed that she had nonregenerative anemia and was in liver failure. A post-mortem exam further confirmed this, as our vets found icterus tissue, ovarian cysts, and abnormalities in her spleen.
We rescue horses of all species, ages, training levels and colors. No animal is ever turned away at our Open Admission Shelter!
