Great episode! Dont let others tell you to make them longer or shorter. Do what you want. Im sure you realized by know that your battery 'monitor' is basically worthless. You need a shunt to measure all current in and out of the house bank. I am a yacht technician and my favorite is the Victron BVM712. Safe travels!

Part 2 was very good. Glad the wind filled in some. Question, did you adjust the ship time while you were sailing or keep it on LA time until you got to Hawaii?

Great question! We had daylight savings mid trip, so we ended up just keeping us on original CA time (pre daylight savings) for the entire trip.

Skin problems usually start with what you eat. This is coming from someone who has had acne problems all his life. I cut out what I discover what I’m “allergic” to and acne gone. For me it’s butter, granola bars, I think canola oil not positive but I avoid it, if I eat a certain amount of peanuts, ramen noodles(unless I rinse the noodles), burgers from certain fast food places(the greasier it looks the most likely I’ll break out from it), and a whole long list. I love butter too, so I won’t really eat anything with it unless I’m prepared to break out. It’s almost never anything topical that causes it.

As a Catalina 42 owner I was attracted to your videos. You’re on a steep learning curve ...not easy at times but as long as your better for it in the end , you win. Although 100s of miles off shore can be teacher with little mercy. Keep learning what is involved in risk management. Curious question...from what I see oil the video your boat does not have swept back spreaders . From my knowledge this was a standard feature since the using was launched in ’89. Am I missing something or was that a modification like the self tacking jib?

It actually surprising wasn't bad for a long crossing. Could maybe have a few more, but the kitchen had quite a bit which was helpful when cooking!

@@gatesstephens4376 I understood the answer perfectly without need for nautical terms. It's a safe bet that a lot of subscribers aren't sailors or care about their word choice. I think it adds to the charm of the channel.

Exactly my point of making the correction. A lot of non sailors watch this. This couple is taking on this adventure. They are becoming sailors. Whether they want to or not, they are also educating those that aren’t. They have a responsibility to educate themselves and do it properly. Sailing has been around for thousands of years and the you tube generation just comes along and calls things whatever they want?

Nice video... I had a Hunter 45 Legend(about 46'10" ), and sailed to Catalina about 2x per month with my small dog 🐕, hiking the ridge trails...and anchoring ⚓️ just west of Two Harbors, at Indian Rock. Anyway, Seth needs to practice a bit of speech "clarity" it would be easy on that trip-use the camera and play back(he's hard to understand at the moment 🤷‍♂️ Also, I'm pretty sure Mahi-Mahi, are not Tuna🤔 PS, I liked and subscribed 👍😎 ⛵️

@@sailingposttime Hey, thanks for replying 😊 I noticed that your main sheet blocks are not at there best optimization. The front block isn't really doing anything, so 98% of the sheet force is on the aft block(and that "U" fitting throught the boom). I could send a picture, but, the sheet could go from the mast, to the first boom block, then down to the traveler block, then up to the rear boom block, then back down to the traveler block, then back up to the rear boom block. This would also give 4-1 ratio, vs your current 3-1 ratio. You might not need 4-1, so, that last trip back up to the rear boom block could be skipped( tying it off to the traveler block...)🙃 Aanyway, the main reason for the first two "legs" is to distribute the sheet loading onto two points on the boom. Just a thought, cheers 🍻

We did have head lamps that have a white or red light option! Definitely made the night watches easier. :)

A few things for you guys: number one, shorten your videos. They should only be 20 to 30 minutes long. Secondly, look up the rule of thirds. A little composition using the rule of thirds were really help the quality of what your showing. Change your camera angle very uncomfortable looking up your nose all the time get it up to about high level and abide by the rule of thirds. The dolphin thing, don’t tell me about the dolphins you see out the window and don’t give long speech you gave at the end of showing dolphins. Edit your edit your audio use that long speech while you’re showing the dolphins and your excitement make it more alive and engaging. I don’t mean to be critical and I hope you take this as constructive criticism. You guys seem fun and you have got some challenges ahead. Make it more interesting. And ask for battery management you probably know. I hope your lights are all LED. Let the batteries suck. Good luck with what you’re doing.😊

Your videos are like a bad car wreck - you can't not look. You are woefully inadequate in preparation and ability for these passage attempts. Yes, you obviously made it (it took two trys) but it was not without challenges that didn't need to exist. Much better preparation, understanding and ability to manage systems on your boat would have gone a long way. From power to sails to safety. Having had to hand steer this entire passage is a new level of purgation. And stop saying that you are making a Pacific Ocean crossing. You are not crossing the Pacific...you happen to be making a passage in a small portion of the Pacific from CA to HI.
