The Recounts literally connect the existing fans with the new ones. For old Njpw fans, the Recount is nostalgic and for new ones, its exciting and informative. Kevin Kelly deserves a medal for the narration.

This shit is why I prefer NJPW over every other wrestling promotion today! This will be the fourth G1 I'll be watching ever since getting into NJPW in late 2015. This year is shaping up to be one of the best I'll ever witness!

@@profitduck. Nakamura was always bigger in NJPW than in WWE. In the NJPW ranking, Nakamura has always been number 2 behind Hiroshi Tanahashi. In WWE, he was never number 2 in WWE.

He's my favorite of the dads, by far. His final G1 run a couple years ago was incredible, and even now he has such a great ability to flip that switch and feel like a legitimate threat.

Satoshi Kojima’s surprise win in 2010 was fucking godly, and brought Kojima home again. Seems like it wasn’t highlighted like I would have and it’s a shame it was forgotten in the history.

I would really like for Minoru Suzuki to win this once in his career, but I'm really, really pulling for Ibushi. He's made a noticeable jump from Jr. Heavyweight to full fledged HW and his consistency and commitment to that should be rewarded.

godddddd i love this series. i always watch old matches on njpw world, but since theres only Japanese commentary im only getting to enjoy the matches without any history or backstory. this series connects so many dots. i love kevin kelly. best commentator in wrestling today. so insightful and knowledgeable with facts about the history of new japan.

My early predictions this year was for Ibushi (he was also my pick last year but lost to Tanahashi). Loved these videos and the extra focus on Ibushi at the end really feels like this is his year...gonna be real interesting on that last day of A Block...

I love The Recount and wish these videos would happen more often. Would love to hear the full story of Suzuki-Gun, considering that tidbit that Commentary occasionally brings up about how they were exiled from NJPW for a couple of years. How did Suzuki become the maniac he is today??? That sounds like the kind of villain origin story that’s gotta be the “Killing Joke” of New Japan.

NJPW did send Taiji Ishimori back to IMPACT after he had already left the company (IMPACT). I suspect that we'll see some sharing of talent between NJPW and IMPACT later on this year, extending into 2020.

There needs to be more of this type of content for those that are not familiar with NJPW. The more iconic historical breakdowns you put out, the more fans you will incur, especially in foreign markets. Also, you absolutely NEED to put out a clean, well-polished app for NJPW World. Small things would do wonders. You're doing well, and on the right track by getting rid of garbage like Omega, but you need to keep up the offensive in the work that you're putting in across the board. Take your rightful place on the world stage.

Good two parts but I do wish there'd have been a breakdown year by year going over the stories of each final instead of skipping some. I know that would have seriously lengthened the series but if any event in New Japan deserves a longish series on it's history it's certainly the G-1.
