Red Arrows, their formation was much large and stunts more impressive. Blue angels only did limited things and stayed in one formation instead of going for better stunts.

Though that gap with the Blue Angels was very small and impressive. They really only did one thing and that was in the same formation. The red arrows did much more spectacular and dazzling displays

The Diamond 1-4 show the slow speed handling of the Hornet while the Solos 5-6 show the Hornets speed and maneuverability. This video didn't do the Angels enough justice.

I grew up watching the Blue Angels and this video does NOT do them justice. I’ve seen their stunts and many times my heart would stop for a second thinking they’ll crash into each other. For example, 2 Blue Angels would fly directly at each other in high speed and right before you think they’ll crash, they move on its side where they barely touch each other 😓 It’s so quick and calculated. This video did not show much of what they REALLY do.

Both impressive in there own ways. The Red Arrows are more acrobatic but the blue angels preform more tightly formed formations. You can not compare these two as they appeal to different types of audiences. It is like comparing the army to the navy. Both are apart of the department of defense but preform different tasks.

Reality so what you’re saying is the red arrows use jets designed for aerobatic shows whereas the Blue Angels use jets reliable to do close to ground manoeuvres and fly close to each other? It’s almost like both teams do two completely different shows... I’d say twitch Jets designed to be quick and responsive to every slight twitch are better than battle ready jets...

As an Aussie pilot (non military) I'll play umpire. My old man was a RAAF Roulette (part time team made up from instructors) and he said the borrowed from the Red Arrows. A guy in the team at the time was USAF on exchange and became a Thunderbird, he said the same. I saw the Blue Angels in Portland and it was awesome watching F/A18s hammering past in low tight fast formations but that was it. Motley Crue and Van Halen blaring in the background because it took a few minutes between each pass to reset. I don't regret seeing it, I just really look forward to seeing the Red Arrows.

Both are outstanding and immensely skilled but I once heard of a Blue Angels pilot say the Brits do things the Americans aren't allowed to because the USN consider some manouvers too dangerous. Both teams are at the top of their game.

I alaways think the Arrows are over safe in their show. They never get as close together as the Angels. Arrows do roll 9 aircraft abreast, but the little Hawk trainer is a less spectacular machine than the Hornet.

Yeah, ever since the crash a while back they got a bit stricter. They still get really close though. The angels get closer but only in formation.

It’s astonishing how close the blue angles perform some of their displays. It’s scary and dangerous but these are the most iconic and most beautiful display teams I have ever seen! I have been a blue angel fan for years now and just repeating the same display is amazing. It’s also very cool how many members are part of the red arrows, same way, more people, more harder to keep control of the display, which is amazing! Also a very fun team of display to watch! *Go Blue Angles and Red Arrows!*

While I may have some bias to our RAF boys, I think both teams perform exceptionally at what they do. And while this video is on the Blue Angels and the Red Arrows, let's not forget about all the other acrobatic teams (Thunderbirds, Patrouille de France, etc) who all pull off iconic stunts to do the same thing - entertain all us enthusiasts!

The Blue Angels are flying Carrier operational battle ready F-18 Hornets 18 inches apart wing tip to wing tip their full team is 7 aircraft The Red Arrows are flying Hawk trainers a little more than half maybe 3/4 the size of an f-18 ..also the F-18 tops out at 1200 mph ..you place a BAE Hawk up against an F-18 they are toast in 90 seconds ....thats like a sparrow compared to a falcon

The red arrows don’t even fly as fast as the blue angles and like what the other person said they fly 18 inches apart and the red arrows probably fly a couple feet away from each other and when you get to see the blue angles in person you will know how hard it is to fly so close because if someone messes up there could be a crash but sense they are highly trained it has never happened when blue angles has crash with another blue angle.

You're right the blue angels know how hard it is to fly 12 jets in formation not 9 jets. They recently just flew 12 jets in formation with the Thunderbirds.

Personally I think Aerobatics are more challenging for pilots to learn and follow, you see many using the plane sizes but it’s clear those haven’t seen both groups live... both amazing and the best at what they do but they do two different types of displays.

Have seen live the Red Arrows (RAF), the Pelicans (RAF Training Command), Card Four (Fleet Air Arm), The Slivers (Belgian Air Force), Patrouille de France (L'Armee de L'Air), and Frecce Tricolori (Italian Air Force). Beginning in the late 1960s. There was also a team of four F104 Starfighters at RAF Mildenhall (when the YC13 and YC14 transports were competing). Possibly the USAF team 'The Starfighters'. All have a different style and brio, most use their own-built aircraft. Cannot decide who was best, but the two teams that the most similarities were the Red Arrows and the Patrouille de France. But that was because both used 9 to 11 aircraft.

All stunts aside, the Blue Angels craft is more beautiful to look at. The Red Arrows can fly just as tight a 4x formation,. But all that pulling away and rolling round between the chemi trails is just nuts. Either fearless or Suicidal impatience!

What most people dont understand is that theyre both totally different teams with totally different purposes. The Blues are an Air Dominance Display Team (showing capabilities of aircraft), however the Red are an Aerobatics Display team (putting on a show). To everyone saying the Blues or the Red are solely the best, youre wrong and dont know what youre talking about. Both teams have pros and cons. The amount of times weve seen Red Arrows pilots day that the Blue Angels are better and vice versa is astonishing. Debate over.

@Alex Abbott you are right and wrong about them not being a combat unit . the Angels are not a singular combat unit but made up of active duty fighter pilots(all carrier qualified) from different air wings ( they are made up of pilots from both the Navy & Marines. Also they are an demonstration team not an aerobatic team.( Their Official homepage describes them as USN demostration team)

Blue angels / thunderbirds are amazing with exceptional skill. They are more suited then the Reds for that awe and awesomeness for fly by's ...However red arrows are much more better at arial display, fly a 9 ship formation, meaning more workload on the polite + more skills to demonstrate as a formation.

2020: F/A-18 Hornet >> Hawk T1A Trainer 2021: F/A-18 Super Hornet >>> Hawk T1A Trainer Both teams are the best of best at what they do. Only difference being, one does it in a supersonic fighter jet and the other in a transonic trainer aircraft.

well thats the point of the Blue Angels. they are so close, and compact that you can tell that it takes a lot of training. They go at high speeds, nearly hitting each other which would take a lot of skill. Here is another thing, 27 Blue Angel pilots have been killed in airshows or practices. The Blue Angel show is even more dangerous than the Red Arrow show. This is also a 1 minute and 51 second video, meaning that the Blue Angels can show more than just a couple of minutes of an airshow.

I like both blues because they flying f18 fighter jets , and not trainer jets but red arrows do more entertaining aerobatics.

Saw the Thunderbirds a few times and they were absolutely awful compared to the Red Arrows and the the Italian Frecce Tricolori. The fly-by-wire planes were wobbling all over the place. Nothing crisp or controlled about it. That is the issue. Fly-by-wire just can’t compete with simple and organic nature of a purely physical training aircraft that is designed to be totally in tune with the pilot. The Blue Angels are absolutely superb DESPITE their aircraft.

Go Red Arrows The Red Arrows manuver was more cooler than the blue angels. I thought blue angels was more cooler than the Red Arrows but it turns out the Red Arrows is way more cooler than the Blue Angels
