AC Unity is a based game, teaching young men the dangers of simping.
@antony2206
@antony2206 Жыл бұрын
His "simping" make sense to me, Elise was the last thing he had in his life, he'll do anything for her, the problem is the charm he had at the start, he was just as much of charming character thay Ezio was, hell, even more imo, the side character received the scarcest of screen time but carve their image into the audience head with so little effort. SO HOW THE FUCK DID THEY FUCKED IT UP.

@@themediumcheese I'd simp for her, but I'd also be a templar. The lesson here is that simping is incredibly risky. This means if you choose to simp, you must be willing to take on those risks and responsibilities. Being based, in the context of courtship, doesn't mean you can't chase the hard to get firecracker. It just means you can't allow yourself to be fooled by her bullshit, or to allow her to assume dominance. In that case, you are still being an honorable and responsible man. Arno doesn't really do this, though. He is allowing the infatuation of the "first girlfriend" completely blind him. Which is a huge reason that Arno and Ezio are not actually that similar. Ezio is a chad. Arno acts like a chad until Elise walks into the room.

I still don't get why people automatically think your going to be some kinda soldier when the idea for a AC game set during WW2 is brought up. There's a few situations where you would not have access to much in terms of firearms and have to rely entirely on stealth since you'd be a civilian technically. For example, Warsaw, Poland. During World War 2 when the Nazi's made they're way into Poland, it fell upon not the military, but civilians to fight back. The military had failed, yet the civilians resisted using the underground, the resistance was so large, or horrible if you will, that even children would come up on the streets and shoot at Nazi troops. An AC game set there could be less action focused and more stealth focused if it was done right. I'd suggest going with AC 3 and 4 styled rules, yes while fully automatic machine guns exist, your a goddamn civilian essentially, your not supplied with the ammo or anything like that to make a KAR 98 or an MP40 a viable long term weapon, much less a big bulky MG-42 that'd essentially make you a sitting duck. You'd have a pistol sure, but at most said pistol would only be able to fire 8 times before you need to reload, it's loud to so that'll draw attention, now you got 7 dudes shooting at you, and you need to reload. This means you can't just go in guns blazing, as for how templars could play a role, perhaps the templars could be aiding the Nazi forces, during World War 2, the Nazis looked into the occult so to speak, I'd imagine they'd consider something related to the relics of Eden to be occult related, which would get the Templars interested. Those are just a few ideas for one, but then again this is modern day gaming were talking about. So odds are they'd ignore the fact Warsaw was a thing and instead have you be on the front lines. . .

I’m late to this but Arno was one of my favorite characters because when playing unity I didn’t feel like someone who was overpowered or could take on armies right off of the bat. It’s ASSASSINS CREED NOT WARRIORS CREED. Everyone compares assassins and always says Arno is horrible but Arno is the very embodiment of what every assassin should be. He was creative on how he hunted down templars. The French brotherhood said he was the most gifted assassin they had ever seen. He was amazing at dueling and was the stealthiest assassin. He became a master at picking locks and managed to take on someone with a piece of Eden just as Altair had done in the past. The thing I love about Arno the most tho is how strong he is morally. Arno in dead kings discovered another apple of Eden and instead of showing bad blood to the brotherhood for getting rid of him he sends it to them. When it comes to hunting down templars Ezio was known for being a legend but in my opinion Arno isn’t because nobody even knew he was there.

@@JamesSmith-ny2gbdoes that not lend to the fact that the brotherhoods around the world are becoming more political/power struggles in the modern era rather than being based on the tenants and way of life at the start? This is evidenced all the way through the series? Kenway slowly moves over to it after pursuing money? Syndicate is 50% a literal power struggle to conquer the crime world? Arno is literally like 300 years back from present day and is still a “inherited” assassin from his dad? Sorry bro but don’t think this singles Arno out at all, especially in the context of Bayek purely creating the hidden ones out of revenge and then the newer games. I feel like Arno had a lot of potential as a character that was never fulfilled, and sadly the opportunity to do so would inevitably have been in a sequel that we never got. Imagine a game where Connor and Aveline come to France on the cusp of the Napoleonic war to hunt down Shay, Arno joins them and Shay himself reveals he killed Arno’s father, maybe he is regretful or maybe he boats that killing him secured the French Revolution. These 4 definitely needed a crossover game, especially for Arno and Shay to continue their stories. The French Revolution was a perfect choice for an AC game, but not this one, Arno’s personal story feels like it has nothing going on with the wider historical context which is a shame really because 3 and Black Flag nailed this! I really did like the Arno and Elise story, they were an interesting duo to watch and the whole star crossed lovers vibe was unique for the series I just wish it overall fit in with the theme of the Revolution better, this game needed at least one rewrite before starting to really get all these aspects right Fantastic video, would love a Connor analysis in the future or a comparison of the Frye twins

Late but Arno deserved a trilogy. He had the same potential that Ezio had. Arno's journey from the beginning of the game to dead kings is just beautiful. He's very relatable to a certain group a people in terms of his love story with elise and you can tell how he feels. However weather or not you feel a strong relation with Arno the story alone give everything you need to understand how Arno feels and is through the game. Dead kings gave us a Arno that can continue to grow with the kid he took on at the end. Arno also was going to Egypt so origins with bayek's story coulve worked 100% since we saw this done in revelations. It would've worked. Bayeks story with losing his son and finding the creed works with Arno having the kid with him which I assume would bring a huge amount of fatherhood in Arno. The start of the brotherhood affecting Arno really comes from his speech at the end. You can see that Arno truly has his own understanding of the Creed and what it stands for and with Bayeks story. Also historically Napolion did go to Egypt and Arno did work with Napolion closely and Arno did have a interest in Edan pieces. The character of Arno will always be the man who could've been. His story his development his impact on the universe could've been the next Ezio and have the impact of the Kenway saga. Truly it's a shame Arno was scrapped because of bad reviews and ubisoft getting scared and deciding to redo the whole thing from the ground up.

@sharp2.080 Altair was wayyy before ezio so how could a game with both of them work 😢
@naiveboy5666
@naiveboy5666 Жыл бұрын
@@inthecloudz1272 I guess that in my first reply i didn't explain myself very well, english is not my mother language so sorry if make any mistakes, but what i was talking about was giving Arno a sequel like revelations, where we have cutscenes with Altair ( side missions) but the protagonist is Ezio ( Desmond actually). You know when Ezio finds Altair library and then retrieves the apple of eden from a dead Altair. Instead of side missions Ubisoft could make a whole AC game around the concept of having to different protagonists of previous AC games, from different eras or timelines. Not directly interact with each other, but one studying the life of a previous fellow assassin before him. Why would Arno be the perfect protagonist for another AC game? That's easy, the resemblance with Ezio from AC 2, I personally think that Arno is young Ezio 2.0 because of how similar they are in terms of their personalities so Arno has the potential to reach Ezio level in terms of becoming a iconic and beloved character, plus Arno's story feels kinda incomplete (as most AC protagonists), in my opinion the biggest flaw with Unity is that the developers focused to much on the cliché romance, and not really in the historical part of the French Revolution, i mean Arno joined the creed in the first place so he could clean his name and show Elise that he was a innocent man, but also to protect her since he knew she would go after her father's killer. AC Unity story is great and it's my favorite AC game but sometimes it gets boring and even painfull to watch and follow the one sided romance. So a sequel to Arno's story would be great because it could give more depth to Arno's character and show us a more mature version of the character, same thing that revelations and brotherhood did to Ezio's character. So what makes Bayek the perfect fit for our other protagonist? Since Arno is not our typical assassin that follows the creed code without questioning it, a game set in egypt where Arno study Bayek's life who was one of the founders of the hidden ones that later became what Arno knows as the brotherhood or creed, could make him have a better understanding of what the brotherhood really is, like what is their cause and what they fight and stand for, plus Bayek's journey to seek revenge for is son could show us yet again another side of Arno now that he is the caretaker of a kid, or it could even relate to Arno in a more personal way, he never lost a son, but he lost his father at a very young age, so both Bayek and Arno lost someone very close and very dear to them. I belive that by the end of AC Unity Arno learned that if you're blinded by revenge, you could pay a very high price, i mean just look at what happened to Elise, and that in the end revenge doesnt really change anything, but in the actual end of Unity he got revenge for Elise death, so that shows us that that is also a chance that Arno would finally go after is father's killer, after knowing about Bayek's story and relating to it, and fans could actually get a fight that almost every AC fan wants to see, Shay Cormac from Rogue vs Arno Dorian from Unity. The only problem with this whole ideia is that if done wrong Arno would kinda feel like a copy paste of Ezio.

With the memory sections I have a take on them: We don't see Arno speak to his targets till the end after Elise is dead. I think it's like that because the killing is something that is perceived as a pure act of necessity to make things right. It isn't personal so he just gets what he needs and heads on. But it doesn't mean it isn't personal because it is he just can't let it out because he wants to succeed with it and don't let anything get in his way not even him self and his emotions. It's a total act of love. And after Elise death there is no reason for him so he lets it go. And it is here where we see him talk to his target for the first time. Because now there is only Arno left with nobody else and so he begins to exist as himself again and now it personal because it is the only thing that is left.

You are missing the point of the DLC totally, you even ignored the moment Arno decided to come back, which is when Arno realizes the evil that the brotherhood fights against when he considers what a man like Captain Rose may do with the power of an Apple of Eden. Arno says so himself "He shall fall, for I am an Assassin". He goes back because he understands the bigger picture, and wants to make the world a better place for people like Leon and Madamme Margot. The fact that Arno worked against Napoleon in Franciade without ever meeting his old friend and wishing for nothing in return makes him embody the motto of the brotherhood, he walked in the dark to serve the light

I think customization is one of the best things about Unity because the traits you get from the gear pieces is only a bonus. You can wear combat armor and still play stealth without it being extremely difficult. Not only that but you have high stat gear that doesn't break immersion like the Sans Cullotes set which is the first stealth set availabe and fits both the setting and Arno himself.

Looking at Arno at the start of the game, i feel like it should've lead to Arno loosing himself, because everytime he looses someone, he turns to unhealthy coping mechanisms, when he lost his father he became a cocky selfish arogant asshole who gambles and possibly turns to occasional violence and trouble with the law, and the only time he seems to be a nice charming man who has fun is with Elise, but when he was put in jail we saw him get angry and vengeful, until he got the chance to reconnect with Elise, whitch when that didn't work out he started drinking until joining the order, whitch still sounds like unhealthy coping mechanism as he just chooses violence and revenge rather than emptying of bottles. And we see him loose his personality due to this as he looses himself to the "mission". Whitch once he looses his place at the order and Elise (who he always turns and clings to as the only person who seems to bring out the nice and fun parts of himself) he goes back to drinking and loneliness. Whitch to me just seems that the moment Elise died Arno either should've went out in a last attack at Germaine where they'd both perish, or Dead Kings should've seen him be at his worst, until what seems to be him deciding to attach himself to Leon and the order, whitch to me just seems as him "if i do this, maybe i'll at least die in battle" and it being another unhealthy way for him to cope.

I think that this story must have had massive rewrites at the last minute. Either that, or the whole time they were working on the game they were focused on gameplay, and were thrown off guard when the Ubisoft brass decided it had to be released a year after Black Flag, when perhaps they were expecting another two years, instead. This might also explain why the game itself is so unoptimized.

The Master Assassin outfit seems to reflect Arno's growth by incorporating many aspects of different gear pieces: I see a Borgeouis flare in the golden outlines and the sleeve cuff on the right sleeve, the hood has a small shoulder cape similar to Napoleonic hoods while the hood itself has a sober Military design, the small leather shoulder and breast protections (the one under the shirt) has a Brigand feel to it, there is even a strap on the back to carry rifles. The point I'm trying to make is that while the game forces Arno to choose an approach according to your playstyle, the Master Assassin outfit, to me, shows Arno as a mature and diverse character when it comes to his skills and approach and, maybe, personality.

Arno was one of the characters with the most potential in the series. And you can see glimpses of that in Dead Kings. He is definitely one of the best Assassins. You'd never see him coming. The Templars didn't know him as this massive problem because he was basically a phantom. He can get in and out without getting detected, he is an amazing duelist (in lore at least, you may or may not agree in gameplay), he took on the full force of the Apple of Eden without taking any major damage (something which so far only Altair has done...even Ezio got overpowered by the Apple in AC2), and he is incredibly smart too, considering how he hid Germain's skull in a myriad of other skulls so nobody can ever find the Sage's DNA. In Dead Kings you see a more moral side of him too. Arno in Dead Kings very well could've used the Apple from Dead Kings to "take revenge" on the Assassins, but instead he returned it to the Assassins. Arno is one of my favorite characters in AC. I wish he'd gotten more time and more games to truly shine as Ezio and Altair and everyone else did.

I'm replaying unity right now and had most of these thoughts on my second playthrough. The cinematic of the Bastille was great. But damn how cool would it have been to partake in it? One of the biggest events in the french revolution. But the revolution is hardly in it. Which is a damn shame as the revolution is really something that the philosophy of templars and assassins wouldve been good in. I also thought Arno didnt care at all about the Assassins or Templars and thought that was a waste. Pre Unity, the Kenway Saga really did well showcasing the creed from a different viewpoint each game. Connor (sorry I cant spell his true name) had serious questions and doubts about the creed, but in the end still stayed loyal to it, even if it cost him everything. Edward (my fav) for the majority of his game was neutral to the creed even though he liked the principals of it, but by the very end he became the creed itself after hitting absolute rock bottom. And Shay... uh... okay yeah Shay was a turn cloak and doesnt really go too much into why he decides to be a templar. To be honest I think Shay is more of an Assasin Hunter than he is a templar. Then finally arno... has the one monologue in the end. That's it. Really disappointing. This game did not utilize the setting of the French Revolution or Arno or the philosophies of the series at all. And that to me hurts more than the bugs at the initial launch. Side note: I dont understand Napoleon being the bad guy in the DLC. I mean in the base game Napoleon and Arno seem to get along rather well. But in the DLC Napoleon and Arno are at odds. But then at the end of the base game after the DLC Arno has Napoleon himself come into the old templar hideaway and help him dispose of the body. I get that Napoleon is like the OG bad guy post reinassiance in western culture, but like why the quick shifts? It's so confusing and noticeable. To me anyway. I think it would be cool to see you do Shay next. As I said earlier Shay is interesting as I ironically think he has some missing potential just like Arno does.

Having just played through Unity and Dead Kings in the past week, I looked up this video to try get an understanding of Arno's character. I think you pointed it out, that the pace of the game really discredits his character. Entire developmental moments that the player should be experiencing instead take place during time skips. Even having played the game from start to finish within the past week, the only characters I can recall the names off are Charles Dorian, Arno, De Le Serre, Elise, Bellec, Mirabou, Germain and King of Rats. Oh and Napolean. None of the other targets have anything memorable about them. You barely even get their name, i stead starting a mission and it acts like Arno has all the info already. Entire sequences pass by swiftly. That said. I feel that this fits with my understanding of Arnos character, as he had no care to learn anything about these people, merely jumping from target to target, with only Germain having any effect on him.

Despite me absolutely loving the shit out of this game, I definitely agree with all of your points here. I think I love the concept to bits, but the execution went off the rails. Really wish they went the dead kings trailer route or maybe covered the Napoleonic war. I mean, they set up a connection with Napoleon, implied that he joined the Brotherhood again and was STILL in contact with Napoleon in the last scene of the main game and yet they just...dropped that. They just left it there. Tell me what happened to Arno, Ubisoft I'm begging you. Anyway, some thoughts. About the watch. I read a fanfic once where they had the interesting idea of Arno continuously gambling away the watch because it had bad memories connected to them, only to regret it and get it back again. Something like that. I kinda loved that. Also, that dead king's dialogue was super confusing. My take on it was that maybe he was reminded of his "calling" or something. Needing a purpose. Considering Madame Margot mentioned her true calling. I always thought maybe Arno saw something of his old self in Leon. The naivete that he lost, so maybe he lashed out to him before that out of some bitter need to "remind him how the world works before it teaches him". At least, that's my sleep-deprived thoughts right now. Some dialogue I will just never fully understand, but it's fun to speculate. Okay, added thoughts because I can't help it. There's a novel of AC Unity where I'm pretty sure they try to remedy a bit what they missed about the characters in the game. It's pretty interesting, adding especially to Elise and a little to Arno (why they keep avoiding him, I have no idea). Anyway, Elise was getting consumed by a need for vengeance near the end and realized this after she shot Robespierre. I don't remember exactly, but pretty sure Arno remarks how she was distant or something right before they go after Germaine the last time. Like, she knew she might give up her life right there to get her revenge.

There is a more tailored Arno outfit, which I think gives a little more flair and sharpness into the outfit (it is actually used in most trailers to represent Arno in a canonical way). Of course, it is only grade three, but still, I think it is intended to be the canonical one.

As much as I of course appreciate the time and effort put into making a video essay like this. I'm afraid i can't ignore the fact that I see this diatribe as largely missing the mark. Not just on the character study and his story, but also on some of the basic facts about the real history itself that the game world is founded upon. Obviously id like to go into more detail on this, but trying to dissect an analysis of this scale in a mere single comment would be logistically impossible to do justice. There is simply too much ground to cover, and far too many misinterpretations and inaccuracies to sift through. Having said this, I still felt it warranted to at least make my opinion known. I think you should consider doing a bit of in depth personal research into the historical events of this time period to develop an understanding of how its major events came to be and what their ultimate implications and outcomes were both worldly and politically, this will help you understand certain historical characters better as well. Only then, should you return to this game and play it in its entirety (all of the game world's events and not just the main story) and see if a re analysis leads to any changes to your perspective on how things develop and what the true motivations were behind them. There's a fair amount that i do agree with here, but there's also too much that I emphatically don't to be ignored. I hope you can understand this and perhaps consider that there is more to be seen in this narrative that you might still be missing.

Slowly, and casually, I've been going through each mainline Assassin's Creed game. I consider it a trial run for a full franchise playthrough I plan on doing as a proper return to KZfaq. Most of these games I haven't played since around the time they came out. With the exception of AC 1 and 2, and my late arrivals to both Origins and Odyssey. I'm 33 now, and something I've noticed is that my attitude towards alternate outfits has changed. So far I have done my absolute best to keep everything as lore appropriate as possible. With the exception of turning Ezio's robes white in Revelations, and trying to find him a black cape in Brotherhood. I desperately wanted to have a better outfit for Connor, because it turns out I still hate the way his fringed chaps make the lower half of his outfit look like a couple of turkey legs glued together.... But there really are no good alternatives. They even screwed up the white and red color option (why is the jacket tan while the hood and tails are white? Only the artist knows). However, before watching this video, it seemed to feel extra important to me that I stick to Arno's lore robes in Unity this time. Again, only thing I changed was the color. I like my Assassin white and red schemes. Now after listening to you talk, you've convinced me that when I do my real deal playthrough I'm going to stick with the blue. It never occurred to me 8 years ago that the blue could have served a genuine purpose to Arno's character. I just thought " oh it's blue because France". Just like I thought about Connor's robes " oh yeah, off white buckskin almost, because native American, and blue trim because Yankee". In hindsight, Connor's robes were probably off white because they wanted to sort of try and bring back the assassin white theme. In reality, I've come to dislike pretty much every main character's outfit after Brotherhood. And there's a line in Black Flag that encapsulate why I have this slight dislike. In the note that Edward finds on Duncan's body it says something like " even though we've never met, I'm sure I'll recognize you from your iconic assassin robes", but then no other assassin you ever meet has robes like Duncan's. It just annoys me a little. From Revelations onward every assassin we meet has not only completely different designs, but completely different color pallets as well. We haven't actually had "iconic" robes since pre-mentor Ezio.

Suppose he did try track hos dad's killer, that fact he was killed by a hidden blade, since that would literally be the only evidence available, it would lead him to a dead end. It was the perfect crime, from Shay's perspective. He was unnoticed, personally, and the wound only implicates Assassin infighting. That is supposing that a master assassin could even recognize the difference between a hidden blade wound and a regular long dagger.

About the pocket watch. I would say him gambling it away doesn't really show that he lacked respect for his father. The first evidence is that we literally see him stealing it back. We know he is extremely arrogant, just like Ezio was at this age. It's more likely that he bet his father's watch because he genuinely believes that he's too good to lose his card game. As for the part about Francois possibly trying to make him denounce his father, this also seems unlikely to me. In the Bastille, Arno is bitter by the fact that Bellec knew his father. "I knew your father" Bellec "Well, bully on you then" Arno, in a sarcastic tone. The phrase bully on you is anachronistic. It was a popular saying in the mid 1800s to early 1900s. I don't know of any historical references from the 1700s. It means "good for you", basically. Also at the Bastille Arno has no clue what an Assassin or a Templar is. This suggests that no one attempted to disparage him for his father's status as an assassin. Such a thing would raise his suspicions. As head strong and careless as he is, he would do everything in his power to find answers. Like sneaking into Francois's room and picking locked drawers looking for correspondences, etc. He would at least have found something mentioning assassins or templars.

It irritates me just how wasted almost everything about Unity was. The French Revolution setting was pretty much wasted just to give the game a pretty boring and basic revenge plot. I find it so difficult in so many different parts of the story to figure out what it was even trying to convey. The Bellec betrayal was probably trying to convey the slippery slope of tye Assassin fanaticism and the insanity that can lead to when someone is too set in their ways. But it’s barely used, and Bellec is never mentioned again and there’s no sign of Arno having any sort of crisis of faith afterwards. It feels like it was shoved in into the middle of the game just to try and add some moral greyness to the Assassins. Arno feels so flat for the majority of the game with his focus on the revenge quest that he doesn’t have any interesting observations about the Assassins and Templars. And because the only turning point to his character is right at the end, all of his character development happens off-screen with a cut to him years later having his own, admittedly interesting, understanding of the Creed. Dead Kings also fails to bridge the gap between these two points in Arno’s character, with it just being more of the same flat, mopey Arno until he pretty much randomly decides to help Leon. Even the end only hints at Arno rejoining the brotherhood and we still don’t really get to see him fully embrace the Creed. I really want to like this game but the potential of it is just completely wasted.

I hate how stupid UBISOFT is. Idc what ppl say about Unity it is hands down the best parkour, I lived the combat system, loved the setting with cool array of weapons and his fighting style and parkour are just 👌 PERFECT. Was everything perfect? Ofc not but the cgi not only cutscenes but in general holds up better than any new AC game. I think it may even slightly be better graphics wise with origins. But what did they do? Instead of fixing it ASAP, offering free DLC along with something like some free outfits and weapons etc. they scraped the whole thing, and abonded everything that were amazing in this game. They literally do the opposite of what the fans are crying out for them to do. Their laziness with using the exact same system m, same combat etc. with the ROG games it’s like really UBI? Imagine Mirage with the CGI of unity, the speed of Arno m, Basims own unique ways of parkour etc. but nah, why do that when you can just copy and paste Valhallas? Valhalla was hands down the worst AC game (if you can even call it ACA) I’ve ever played. odyssey

Valhalla and Odyssey were good games but not good AC games I feel they could have easily taken out the Isu and assassins/hidden ones pieces of the plots in the story and still make games out of them but decided to that they could sell better if they tied the Assassins Creed name to it. Alexios/Kassandra and Eivor were not even members of the Brotherhood or go on to join them

I’m normally not this rude when it comes to criticism but I was so baffled by this video that I have to say this. This is one of the worst analysis videos I’ve ever seen for gaming period. You consistently manage to misunderstand scenes or character motivation throughout the whole game, Dead Kings especially. Whenever Arno is down on his luck and in a rough spot, he gets frustrated because he can’t keep hold of anything in his life. I got much more angry than I should have but whenever you’d get to a scene where Arno is displaying his current status as a character, if it was anything other than witty you’d essentially call him a prick or say it was bad writing. Actually unbelievable. With takes like that, I’d be hard pressed to imagine you finding any joy out of Black Flag. So you using it as an example of good writing earlier on just has me even more confused. My biggest complaint with this video is your interpretation of 3 scenes in particular. The Bellec scene during S3M2, and the two scenes of Arno interacting with the kid and the orphanage owner in Dead Kings. Let’s start with the Bellec scene, you completely misunderstood the entire scene from the time Bellec started talking to when he was offscreen. He doesn’t hate Arno randomly, he is telling Arno that he isn’t in training anymore, he can’t always rely on his teachings because he won’t always be there. He is telling Arno that for his first real assassination mission he has to do it himself and prove that he’s capable of continuing to be an Assassin. Now for the scene with the kid. You have to understand that at this point in the story, Arno has completely lost all hope and faith, so when he meets this kid with the same naive nature that Arno himself had earlier in his life, he thinks it’s ridiculous and tells the kid to quit while he’s ahead. Because in Arno’s experience, every time he’s tried to save someone or do good it never worked out. So he’s essentially projecting on to the kid for what he thinks is the kid’s own good. Now for the orphanage owner. Arno is not entirely hypocritical for not getting over Elise despite what he told the kid. This is a weird example but imagine some drug junky coming up to you and saying “Hey, listen. Don’t do drugs or you’ll end up like me.” That’s not hypocrisy, it’s a warning. Arno didn’t want the kid to end up like him. When the orphanage lady comes and talks to Arno to get him to see reason he’s rude at first because he doesn’t want to hear it, but he realizes she’s right. So he goes off and fixes his mistake and helps the kid. Arno never cared for the Brotherhood, sure. But the kid inspires him to keep on living and fighting so that he can make the world better for others like he thought he never could before. So he joins back up with the Assassins, this time truly understanding the tenets of the creed so that he may do what he’s always wanted, to help those in need. Eventually becoming a Master Assassin and never truly forgetting or running from what happened to those in his past, mainly Elise, but learning from it so that it may never happen again.
