Financial independence means something different to everyone. For some, it means having enough to not worry about being laid off. For others, it could mean making more money to buy a yacht, but for Ali and Josh (TheFICouple), financial independence means more time together, growing a family, and a community that helps others reach their highest potential. Just four years ago, Ali and Josh were strapped with six figures worth of debt, living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to survive. Now, they’re financially independent, working their jobs just two days a week, and spending the rest of the time building a better life for their future child.
Ali and Josh are tenacious savers and investors, but they weren’t always like this. They were used to spending everything they made, scared to look at their bank accounts, and hoping that the future would somehow become brighter. Once they took the financial blinders off, Ali and Josh saw that the only way to build their ideal life was to deal with their financial hardships head-on. From there, they house hacked, heavily invested, paid off debt, and began publicly posting their wins, and losses, on social media under the @TheFiCouple handle.
They’ve gone from surviving to thriving, and this episode hints at just a portion of what Ali and Josh are building. With a baby on the way, they’ve become even more aggressive with growing their online brand, their real estate portfolio, and their investment accounts. If you want to repeat the four-year path to FI like Ali and Josh, tune in!

I really loved this video and specifically the message at the end. I also love real estate and have shifted most of my investing from the market to real estate but I am not looking to build a 100 unit portfolio. My ultimate goal is to retire and teach personal finance to others. I am not trying to trade in my current job for a new one. My ultimate goal is to generate $11K a month in income from my real estate investments. We currently own 4 properties 6 doors and are currently over half way to our goal. Similar to what they talked about in the video my goal is to track what my income could be if we had all paid off properties. Once that number hits $11K my plan is to start taking all disposable income to pay our properties off vs. building a huge portfolio. I will plan to keep investing after that but it might be in a more passive fashion like the stock market or syndications to keep my time free. Thanks for sharing your story and posting this video!

First time hearing about the FI Couple and just started following them online after this episode. My husband and I went through fertility treatment as well trying various methods and are now blessed with two kids. So nice to hear your story. Congrats to you guys on the pregnancy and to all of your success! Great job Amanda on cohosting. Been following you since I saw you on this podcast.

7% in July was not a great deal. Kudos to them for being brave enough to take that on though

OMG trust us 7% was not what we had initially planned for! Thankfully we bought the deal WAY below market & knew it would cash flow nicely even at a higher rate. We gained $60,000 of new equity using 5% down & this deal gives us a 20% cash on cash return which we like 😊

The rental income covers the cost with out personally coming out of pocket and they always have the option to refi when the rate drops. Average credit card rate is 16-30% with the average household balance at $8,000 atleast the ficouple is still building equity at 7%.

Anyone else distracted by how often she looks at him when he's speaking yet he rarely if ever looks at her when she's speaking? Otherwise, good information about how to achieve financial independence as a couple with shared goals.

I don’t get how this is FI. This was just swapping a w2 job for another job of working part time and doing social media. They not even living off investments. How is this financial freedom?
@derwinmitchell9947
@derwinmitchell9947 4 ай бұрын
FI doesn't necessarily mean not working at all. FI is simply freedom to have a choice and not have to work for someone else

@@derwinmitchell9947 so every buiness owner working in their business is FI? I don’t think so, if they stop working they are not financial free.
