In Legends, they actually did have a surplus of them. Including an imperial warlord had a war chest of those from the end of the clone wars period.

They did have a few but they dont have the schematics to mass produce them i mean kuat drive yards manufactures them but they are under imperial control. Mon cala ships was their best choice of mass producing warships

At that point in the timeline, much of its technology and weapons, while still powerful was outdated. Even its design doctrine just didn't meet current demands. That's not to say the Venator is by any means a bad ship. It's just not the kind the rebellion/new republic would use. This late in the times, you're better off making a successor to the Venator to not only keep up with technology, but also have the potential for further upgrades, ease of maintenance, and smaller crew. It takes its design as a carrier and amplifies its effectiveness as one with small escort vessels.

@@LockeLynx Also wouldn't it leave a bad impression with the rest of the Galaxy to use the very same ships that were used during the Empire's early days of tyranny? I don't think anyone would be happy to see these things roll up to their planet, even if they were New Republic ships.

That's a BIG military deployment. Usually 3 or 4 venators is a serious force, and I counted nearly a dozen. It's one of those videos where you wonder at the backstory.

@@pabloulloa2091 In my mind there is more but due to budget restraints they had to reduce amount of ships because animating dozens of ships shooting and getting hit or getting destroyed is expensive but in reality there’s a dozen ships big and small

I like that the fleet popped out of hyperspace so close to the planet effectively using its gravity well to make sure all the ships are in high orbit and can start deploying their assets giving no opportunity for the defenders to muster a response

I love that they come out of hyperspace and still have to pivot their ships. The score having the marching sound that made it so iconic using the troops that landed! Amazing! What I found strange was about a dozen Venators, but no Acclamators, which is a dedicated troop carrier and can physically touch down on planet, and also no Arquitens, Pelta or other support/auxiliary craft. And they came out of hyperspace so close to planet that if they were expecting a contested landing, it'd be suicidal. My headcanon for this is a neutral planet on a critical hyperspace lane has made a deal with the Republic to join in exchange for protection and status and more political jargon. Hence the uncontested landing so close to the planet with only Venators. Now obviously the Venator is the sexiest of all the Star Destroyers, but I love it most when it's Mogging all of its escorts

@@lordazn The Acclamators aren’t escorts, and the Venators don’t need escorts. If we were talking Imperial warships, then that’s more to do with the Tarkin Doctrine. Meanwhile, CIS fleets did have escorts (of a sort) and the Rebel Alliance had an abundance of them (on account of such ships being cheaper to buy or easier to steal).

@@themightyalpaca313 venators do need escorts (and we have seen them with escorts many times in clone wars ) they are carriers more than they are battle ships and they also make a large target having one on its own makes it venerable we have seen venators that are destroyed because they lacked the needed anti fighter for a situation something escorts help with. every capital ship should have escorts that is a blanket rule

This is what made the Clone Wars more bigger than the Galactic Civil War. Two gigantic Armies and Navies on equal proportions slugged it out in a brutal galaxy wide conflict. God how i wish they made "Battlefront" for Clone Wars were your going to different fronts in Galaxy fighting huge enemy armies with fleets and armadas slapping each other on the Space.

Only issue I see is I don’t think Venators can actually land on planets besides coruscant and a few others that have speciality landing pads. They mainly used acclamators for planetary invasions like this

Considering every Venator could only load 2000 of clones along with it's war machines, it's better to bring 3 acclamators in exchange to 6 venators, which could bring 16K worth of troops along with its armour vehicles. A single venator fighter compliment is enough to obliterate any nation air power except for the US, Russia & China but that aint gonna last long.
