Very interesting. Once more you have taught me more about Japan. Thank you. Also, I appreciate your use of the word "gastronome" because , in English, it is an uncommon word these days but it is perfectly descriptive.

Thanks for the back story of Kitaoji Rosanjin. I am a Rat. I am a crab in western astrology, so my birthday is soon. A rat likes a nice house, a comfortable house , a wealthy house, so the beauty of Iroha soan suits me. I also love Kawai Kanjiro's house. And I love Kyoto Rakushisha. Can you please explain why is there an open field across from Rakushisha? That land must be very valuable but no one builds on that land. Why not? Thanks from Vancouver.

If you resister the land as an agricultural field, the tax is much cheaper in Japan. That land is this case. So building house is not allowed on it. But if the owner change the category, it is possible to build on it.
