Gibson is proud to be back in the guitar amplifier business. Inspired by vintage Gibson amplifiers and reimagined for today’s players, the Falcon 5 and Falcon 20 tube amps are handcrafted in Petaluma, California and designed for modern stages, home studios and beyond.
The Gibson Falcon 5 and 20 are now available in North America via authorized Gibson dealers and Gibson.com, with global availability starting April 2024.
The compact Falcon 5 and Falcon 20 combos hark back to the Gibson amplifiers from the late 1950s and early 1960s that inspired them, but feature all-new circuits developed by Randall Smith and the MESA/Boogie® Design Team. In a world in which it’s increasingly difficult to crank up a high-powered tube amplifier, the Falcon 5 and Falcon 20 bring unprecedented flexibility to the table.
The Gibson Falcon 5 tube amp delivers around seven watts of single-ended, pure Class A power from a single 6V6 power tube, switchable down to around three watts, making it one of the best tube amps for home use. Alongside volume and tone controls with a wider, more usable range, there’s a level control for the Falcon 5’s lush onboard all-tube spring reverb, while a 10-inch Jensen Blackbird Alnico speaker helps deliver the Falcon 5’s touch-sensitive, harmonically rich tones.
The Falcon 20 expands both the power and the feature set. The dual 6V6 power stage utilizes patented Multi-Watt™ technology to deliver 12, five, or bedroom-friendly one-watt Class A power modes, making it a perfect tube amp for small gigs, with the ability to reduce output for home use. All-tube tremolo joins spring reverb in the onboard effects section, switchable remotely via the supplied two-button footswitch. A 12-inch Jensen Blackbird Alnico speaker offers greater spread and projection, along with enhanced bass response.
Both Falcon circuits have been designed with the option to substitute the supplied 6V6 power tubes with optional 6L6 tubes, further adding to their flexibility, headroom, and punch.

Never understood why Gibson stopped making amps. These old Gibson tube amps from the 50s and 60s have an amazing tone, darker, crunchier, and deeper than any Fender. Reminds me of B.B. King and Kenny Burrell's 50's records.

I think I’m gonna use one of these at church on Sundays, just running the DI out, maybe even ditch my Helix and go back to using pedals with this amp over running my helix with a built in amp/IR. I’m excited to try one of these. Leave it moderately cranked and push it for leads with an overdrive, or keep it cranked and ride the volume knob for rhythm and roll all the way up for lead. The added bonus of having built in reverb and Tremolo could save you some floor space to add some modulation effects.

These do look amazing and sound absolutely phenomenal. The only thing I wish they had was a master volume control and a 3 way tone control. A harrier version of the Mesa California Tweed if you will. The 3 way tone control would be a nice bonus for changing between these Gibson more mid focused guitars and a guitar a bit more mid scooped. A 3-way would allow us to compensate and push those mids back with the amp. Perhaps that can be achieved through the two inputs. Anyways, like others have said, great sounding amp for not too bad of a price either. Very tempting indeed.

That 12W sounds fantastic. I love that there's some real saturation happening there. Too many amps these days sound like they're broken, to my ears. The crunch sounds are too, I dunno, desk distortion-esque could be the word I'm looking for. I mean: plugging into the mixing desk and cranking up the gain knob gives a real undesirable overdriven sound. Yet plenty of amp manufacturers must think that's what today's guitarists want. I wouldn't accept an amp that sounded like that if it was wrapped in $50 bills! So, kudos to Gibson for giving us a vintage saturated tone that real guitarists can use all day and all night. This newest offering from Gibson may be basically a one-trick pony, but what a terrific trick!!

I like the idea of these amps, but I think you missed the price point entirely. I think it would have been far wiser to launch these at a $500 price point, and take some market share from lunchbox amps offered by REVV and Orange’s Tiny Terror series. I think the new Falcons would have performed well in that segment by offering the only amp with a Vintage lineage, amongst more modern amps. And then, maybe later on, offer some more expensive options/modes, but without encroaching on Mesa/Boogie’s offerings. No doubt, these amps will sound great since Randall’s crew is overseeing them, but I just can’t fathom spending that much on one of these. Heck, the vintage Falcons/Skylarks could be picked up around $500 for the last few decades.

Not many (if any) tube amps are great for acoustic guitar. Acoustic amplification is better serviced with solid stae components and full range fidelity with minimal distortion, whereas tube amps are prone to distortion and tend to be more mid focused with less definition in the lows and highs.

It’s cool that Randall Smith worked on these to keep them true to the old Gibson amps, and added newer features. A lot of us were concerned Mesa Boogie would lose its mojo, quality, etc, but they’ve stayed true, still run by Randall Smith, and now Gibson amps are reborn, overseen by one of the greatest amp designers. Very cool! For those who don’t know - Randy Smith invented channel switching, switchable power, fixed bias tube amps, multi mode amps, amps with variable circuit linkages (flip a switch to run select a different preamp circuit or operating class),and on and on. He’s a genius.

If I didn't already own too many amps, I'd buy that 20.

Für das Geld bekommst du einen handgefertigten Amp, aus Deutschland, auf deine Wünsche gefertigt. Einfach ignorieren, irgendwann sind die wirklich Pleite.

I love the 5 but disappointed that the tremolo wasn’t included.

I agree it would be the perfect amp if it had tremolo.

Is that a ‘64 Reissue 335? I think it’s a ‘61 Reissue… dot inlays not blocks. If I’m correct I win a Falcon.

Exactly what about these amps was hand wired, as is boasted on the rear, and what about giving us some nice clear pics of the guts of the amps? If you are proud of the quality of construction of the circuit then show it in your promotional videos don’t hide it.
