Namco-Bandai strangely decided to release this game in secret, maybe hoping nobody would notice. Fortunately, you and Nick were constantly talking about it leading up to the release, so I was able to buy it Day 1.

I’m guessing because the series didn’t sell well here so Namco had low faith selling this series it kind of reminds me how Soul caliber 6 had a lower budget to the previous entries because that series was losing sells as well I think.

The way this franchise is handled scares me. Klonoa is my childhood and it was nice getting a chance to play the first game for the first time and playing klonoa 2 again.

I bought this physically from playasia. I got the switch version. This will be my first time playing these for myself. At a young age I visited some kids house who had this, and it never left my mind. Never played it but couldn't forget about those two funky cats and klonoa.

For some reason game companies have a bad habit of doing this. They re-release a game either unaltered or remastered, put zero effort into marketing it, say they will continue it if it does well enough and then drop the whole idea and blame sales rather than themselves. I really would love to see a Klonoa 3 come out, especially with so many possibilities open now. I just don't feel we sadly will get that and it is a real shame. I had the demo of Klonoa as a kid, and then played that and 2 later in life and loved them both.

You're so right about Namco's marketing - I'm a huge fan of Klonoa and Pac-Man and I had no idea both this year's remasters even existed until a few weeks ago. There was zero hype train; it makes me feel like we can't get too excited about any future releases because nobody will have bought it.

I didn't know people still cared about physical copies. I've got over 2,000 games and I'm very happy I don't have to worry about them taking up space or getting lost somehow.

Those are some crazy odds to have it released on your birthday! I typically have things released on my birthday but it's November 22nd, right around Black Friday and Christmas time. 11/22 and 11/23 seem super common

First off, welcome back!!! The ending was spoiled for me a few weeks back and I'm upset about that, but I still want to check out the game. It's always been on my backlog. I hope the success this game has been receiving leads to a new release. Banger video as always Wayne!

I just saw your video. Although I also own the original version for PS1 and PS2, I just couldn´t hold myself, also to buy the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. Because the selling seams to be great, I hope we´ll get finally Klonoa 3 one day.

All of these come from the PS1 and Wii version. There are a collection of clean CD quality sound effects available on the Original Soundtrack of the PS1 version (and only one single voiceline of them is used). When he calls Huepow into the ring: "Hyupo, rupurudu!", the audio is sourced from the PS1 soundtrack. His "Wahee!" (yes, this is the correct romanization) is a pitched up version of the audio from the Wiimake (as seems to be the case with most of his other in game voicelines unfortunately).

This is a good cleanser after that sunset city episode lmao. I'm patiently saving up to get this one, the demo is kinda tiding me over, but it's not nearly enough. I'll probably skip past the story segments of the review as i've heard great things and want to go in blind.

Actually, the Wiimake had clear re-recorded voice lines in both Phantomil and Japanese. I don't know why those weren't included

If only they brought the game Klonoa Heroes: Star Medal to the US and on the switch. That would be perfect. Also I noticed that Klonoa got shipped with Milla from Freedom Planet (BTW Freedom Plant 2 coming out September 13). So IDK which is the best girl for Klonoa, Lolo or Milla Basset? ( BTW I think Klonoa is a cabbit)

To get ready for this game I bought the PS1 game on the PSN store played on my Vita the PlayStation 1 version is much harder than the GameCube one but the remastered are beautiful on the PS5/4 & SW

My only issue with this package...is the last two puzzles of 6-2. It is so incredibly infuriating that I very much doubt I will ever pick the game back up. Now, I beat it for the original PlayStation back in 1995-1996'ish and it never gave me any issues...so something is off. I just finished it not 20 minutes ago for our Series X so it's fresh on my mind. I'm tempted to bring out my old copy and see if I'm right because it truly sucks all the fun right out of the game and I was having a blast. I have not started the second title yet but I am about to. Hopefully, it will remain enjoyable and challenging throughout without useless time limits. Addendum- The spoiler scene never really bothered me. It didn't bother me in the 1990's and it doesn't now. What happens in the scene pretty much telegraphs what's about to happen. Also the after scene really just ruins the entire thing. I'm trying hard not to include spoilers.

I completely agree about the cutscenes, I felt there was something lacking compared to the Original. It honestly baffles me that with all the modern tech, how are cutscenes on a 32 bit console still better than a console with four times the power?

There is a little misunderstanding in DLC here. $20 comes with: - five costumes you mentioned. - a 30-page digital art book about game settings, visuals, etc. - 143 OSTs from both Klonoa 1 and Klonoa 2. Is it worth it? That's up to you.

Not even remotely worth it. SEGA was overly greedy with Sonic Origins but even they weren't this greedy. All of those items should have been included with the two games in a single purchase, and the entire thing should have been about $25 max. $40 for just two games and then $20 for bonuses is absolutely ridiculous. I'm tired of companies trying to nickel and dime me on retro collections. Too bad for these companies that I'm well aware that I can wait for a sale. Or in the case of Sonic Origins, simply never buy it because it's broken trash. The greedier the industry gets, the less money I put into it. Maybe they should stop being so abusive, they'd make more money that way. Like I said earlier, I'd have spent $25 on a proper Klonoa package that includes everything. Now I'll wait for $10 during a sale, if I bother at all. Even Sony... Spider-Man doesn't really qualify as retro, but $60 for the PC version? Full price for a 4 year old game? Heck no. I already waited four years, Sony. I can wait even longer for a reasonable price during a Steam sale. Get bent.

I just think there's being something lost in all these ps1 remakes coming out. Theres a sort of melancholy and charm in the original games that just aren't in there with modern graphics.

This feels especially apparent with the FMVs but I can also agree with the overall game. I honestly think Klonoa 2 is Remastered very well, but I always reccomend newcomers to start with the PS1 version of Phantomile when getting into the series

We need a third game we need the Game Boy games and we need an anime and or a movie now because of this is doing extremely well and I am proud to have been one of the people that bought both originals for both systems back when they came out literally over 20 fucking years ago. This is one of my favorite game series of all time

The fact that this bundle remaster even exists matters a lot. Klonoa is one of the harder games to acquire, so this is a necessity for everyone to play these great games. Especially Klonoa 2: It's now one of my favourite games ever!

In the weeks leading up to Klonoa we got a great retro sequel the a classic Turtles in Time. Shredder's Revenge showed that Konami knows and understands their product and delivered a new experience that gives even the most fickle of Turtles fans something to love. Then a week later Sega went an spoiled the fun for old school gamers everywhere by just doing what they do best: taking a quality product and turning it into a glitchy mess, showing once again that Sega, not any of their development teams, in the real problem. Fortunately, Klonoa managed to do what Sega never could with Sonic: make a remake with all of the care and attention as the original release, which really should be the standard at this point. Klonoa is a fine game that I really need to play more. Overall, it's been a pretty good summer so far.

@@cliffturbo2146 Same. I love these games, but I have several different versions at this point. When are we getting a re-release of Knuckles Chaotix? Or the Advance Trilogy? Or the Game Gear Games? I'd even take Sonic 3D Blast at this point.

Before watching this video. I will give my own thoughts on this package. I definitely love this remaster but I won’t lie here, Klonoa 1 definitely has few presentation issues that I would still recommend playing PS1 original but I do think its much better experience than Wii remake that I just dislike. Klonoa 2 on other hand, I have no complaints. Its clear that Monkey Craft spend their most effort on that one and it makes sense since it never got remake or remaster treatment. I can easily recommend the package for Klonoa 2 alone because unless you have the original PS2 disc. Playing through a emulator is gonna be difficult compared to Klonoa 1. I’m also happy to own these two games physically for the first time in my life

Yeah. I don't buy into that "we're holding this hostage, buy some random thing if you want this franchise to live" crap anymore. Hearing that from the director made me want this less. I already bought these games in their original releases. I already showed my support. Then launch day came, and I saw $40 for the two games and $20 for bonus items that should have been included in the main purchase. I am absolutely not buying this until it's on sale for a reasonable price. Considering I don't even care for Klonoa 2 due to the abundance of backtracking, I'll give them $10 in a few years. You f***ed up hard, Bamco.

To be fair whenever directors say stuff like that I don’t think they’re trying to be greedy by “holding a series hostage”. It’s just a realistic response to the question “How do we get more games in a niche series?” It’s a sucky situation but at the end of the day studio heads don’t care what games are trending online. They only pay attention to the games that they can show off on their quarterly sales report.
