Shohei has busted his ass since he was 6 years old and the coaches knew he was gonna be a star by the time he turned 10 but no matter how hard you work you need to be a physical specimen at 6’4 210 lbs to have the complete package. This is a once in every 100 years athlete that can hit for power, throw 101 miles and hour, can run and steal the bases with the speediest players and has an excellent glove to play outfield which he displayed in Japan. This guy is a monster and hopefully he doesn’t get injured too much so he can break some MLB records.

Shohei started to play Baseball when he was in the second grade 9 years old. His parent never pushed him, the first three years he would only play on weekends. 6’4 and 210Ibs was his stats when he entered the fighters..at 18 years old…as you can see he is a different “monster” now 😂 Otherwise, you pretty much got him right..😊

Shohei is a generational and once in a century baseball player! As a hard-core baseball fan and historian-expert in this sport, Shohei could become the greatest player of all-time, stats-wise, as the overall greatest player, pound-by-pound! He is the greatest 2-way Superstar in baseball history without a doubt!! Let's hope he stays healthy, so he can break many records! He has the talent of Bonds, Aaron, Mays, Griffey Jr and Ruth!!

It's hard to believe that the richest athlete would be a baseball/MLB player. I always thought it would be a soccer player seeing it's probably the most popular international sport.
@dathunderman4

@@lm-pw9ulin terms of annually I believe Ronaldo makes more. And Mbappe got like a $700m offer just to play for one year for a Saudi club. These Saudi clubs have inflated soccer contracts to an unfathomable degree. Before they came into the picture, it was probably basketball players that made the most, which makes sense because one great basketball player can influence the outcome of a game to a much greater degree than any other major team sport. But before that, in terms of total contract value, baseball players actually had the most valuable contracts, up until just a few years ago. It was mainly cuz MLB teams actually sign players for 10+ years and whatnot, which isn’t really seen in other sports. Like in the NBA, 3-4 years is considered long-term. All this to say, it doesn’t surprise me all that much, those the $700m figure was a bit more than I expected (mainly cuz of Shohei’s injury). imagine just how much he would’ve been offered had he never gotten injured and had to get TJ surgery… like $1 billion?

Lots in soccer too. Two Koreans right now in the top 5 scoring list in the English Premier League (most watched sports league in the world, not just in soccer), Son Heung Min and Hwang Hee Chan. Korea is actually the only country with two players in the top 5 for scoring. Son actually won the golden boot for the premier league a couple seasons ago, and is the captain for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Kaoru Mitoma looks to be one of the biggest upcoming signings for a big club. Kim Min Jae known as one of the best defenders in European football, and plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world (Bayern Munich). There’s also a lot more in baseball. Hae Seong Kim won the golden glove this past season and is might be the most popular player on the Padres. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is one of the biggest pitching prospect of all time, he is also set to sign a huge contract to play for an MLB team, which might even be the Dodgers.

He could buy a home in Florida or Texas when he starts making the 68 mill after the 10 year mark and get most of it, sure inflation could affect it But he also gets 40-50 mill already in endorsements so he really doesn’t need the money now Plus I really don’t think he wants to be miserable when his high salary contract is the reason that hinders the team from getting good players

He could always get a ridiculously cheap loan for however much he wants if he actually has something to buy or invest in between now and then. @@Minadarling119 still dont get it tho. hes deferring 68 Mil to 2034 and beyond. In 2034 that 68 mill is probably gona be worth like 50 mil which by that time some average baseball player will probably make, because of inflation.

@@FroZiroo That's fine with him. He wants to win. And deferring that money allows the Dodgers to get other players. He already makes $50M/year in endorsements and gratuities on merchandise- those numbers are only going to go up now that he's with the Dodgers. I know it's not entirely "western" in terms of recognition, but (Indian) Sachin Tendulkar had been the highest paid Cricket player in the world for many years, and he's still worth $200M. (Filipino) Manny Pacquiao is one of the first boxers ever (just 2, so far) to get 9 figures in just one fight (the other, Mayweather, who also had the higher payday for their May 2015 fight), and he had total career earnings of above $400M while still being worth $220M as of this year. Technically, the "Pac-Man" still had the highest payday in 1 year over all Asian athletes, earning at least $120M just in 2015 alone... but (Japanese) Shohei Ohtani's contract with the Dodgers blows that out of the water as a whole.

Contrary to popular beliefs, baseball is not going to die in the next 20yr. Baseball card dropped badly, but baseball will not. The reason is because baseball is an unorthodox champion. They are loved for being long games. All other sports are chasing for the fast pace adrenaline except baseball. The working class needs a time so they can share the attention 50/50 on and off the court. They chat about anything and take a sip of beer until the pitcher finally throws the ball. You get to know the exact point when to relax and when to get hyped and celebrate. Basketball is the exact opposite, every single moment can be the biggest highlight. There is zero time to chit chat. 100% attention on what is happening on the court. There is no other sport that gives baseball fan this kind of casual pace and transition they hunger.
