Yeah there’s a Schwarzenegger movie along the same lines too. As is so often the case, Karl is making a valid point in a hilarious way. If both the original and the copy have exactly the same memories, they will each remember getting copied and everything before, thus being able to tell if they are the original or copy. But Karl had to go, “‘What would do me head in… How would I know which one I was?”

I was thinking along similar lines. Just ask a factual question you already know the answer to. I suppose you could add a qualifier that the questions have to be about the doors/angels, but without it there are millions of answers. The funny part, to me, is that the other answers don't occur to the person trying to respond to the riddle seemingly due to it BEING a riddle, which one usually expects to have a clever answer that incorporates all of the separate parts of the question. As such, the idea that one could just ask the angels to verify a fact that you already know doesn't occur to them as it doesn't fit within the parameters of the typical riddle format, but would more than likely be thought of by a lot more people if they were actually in the situation presented. So it's a riddle that only really works as a riddle because it's a riddle.
@chriswright81142 жыл бұрын
Ricky didn't present the riddle correctly. the way he said it, yes, any question you know the truth to would work. the rules are supposed to be that one lies, one tells the truth and you don't know which is which. one door is good, the other bad and you also don't know which is which. presented in this manner, you would have to ask which door the other guard would say is good, and pick the other one.

Karl's worry about his doppelgänger "going mental and causing all sorts of trouble" was too real for me when I was a teenager. There was a kid in my town who apparently looked, sounded and dressed so much like me that I used to have friends angry at me for "blanking them" and "pretending to not know them" when they bumped into me in places I definitely had not been. Kids taken to school by car would see me "playing truant", in casual clothes, riding my bike in the opposite direction, on the other side of our small town, and look at me as if I were a ghost as I walked into the classroom in uniform, just a minute or two after them. I even had the police knock on my door a couple of times for minor crimes that presumably my doppelgänger had been seen doing. Luckily I always had a solid alibi. I used to be desperate to meet this mysterious person, and given the small size of our town, just 5,000 people and a single square mile, it's a miracle I never did, but in many ways now I'm kinda glad I never came face to face with them. Scary shit huh? Keep up the good work guys, I love your channel. Chill reactions, and great content.

@@Whats.Next.Videos lol no problem. it's one of those things where it only works if you set it up correctly. big fan of riddles and logic puzzles, and unfortunately you kind of have to be a grammar Nazi and a stickler for the rules if you want them to make sense and have a logical solution. too many people have heard most of the classic riddles, such as this, and they get hung up on knowing what the answer is instead of how to actually arrive at it. bar bets are kind of the same way. if you just want to look clever by knowing what the answer is, you'll look like an idiot trying to set it up correctly. I'm positive Ricky knows the correct presentation and solution, but then again, Karl could get into anybody's head and screw them up. 🤣

Couldn't you just ask an obvious question ("Do I have red hair?") and then figure out the liar based on the response?

With the demon and Angel. You could simply ask what's the colour of my jacket? Just don't pick an article of clothing with an ambiguous shade and colour, like a tan brown, Lmao

1) "How would I know which one I was" is the smartest thing Karl has ever said "In Divided Minds and the Nature of Persons,[3] Parfit asks the reader to imagine entering a "teletransporter", a machine that puts you to sleep, records your molecular composition, breaking you down into atoms, and relaying it to Mars at the speed of light. On Mars, another machine re-creates you (from local stores of carbon, hydrogen, and so on), each atom in exactly the same relative position. Parfit poses the question of whether or not the teletransporter is a method of travel-is the person on Mars the same person as the person who entered the teletransporter on Earth? Certainly, when waking up on Mars, you would feel like being you, you would remember entering the teletransporter in order to travel to Mars, you would even feel the cut on your upper lip from shaving this morning. Then the teleporter is upgraded. The teletransporter on Earth is modified to not destroy the person who enters it, but instead it can simply make infinite replicas, all of whom would claim to remember entering the teletransporter on Earth in the first place." 2) rickys riddle of the doors is wrong. And so his answer is wrong. You can ask ANY question that you know the answer to. "What is 2+2?". If he answers anything but 4 then its the dootr to hell. "Whats my name?" "What colour is my t-shirt"

Rickys riddle isn’t wrong because you have to ask a yes/no question

If you ask the question, "If i were to ask the other guy what door he is guarding, what would he say?" The Devil would lie and say Hell (as God would tell the truth and say Heaven which the Devil would lie about), God would tell the truth and say Heaven (as God would know the Devil would lie and say Heaven). You then do the opposite of that answer to select the correct door.

Or just ask one of them what 1+1 is? The one who lies or tells the truth will tell u the door they are guarding.
@spaken27682 жыл бұрын
Just ask either of them "are you guarding a door?"
