I would say provide jobs, the can feed themselves with the pay. Giving people stuff for nothing, only makes them greedy and unappreciative later.

@@Flascoexp The research doesn't seem to support that. In Finland they tried a universal basic income. It showed that it had no discernable difference in people getting jobs. The surprising difference was that people were more optimistic, they had less stress & fewer health problems. Lazy people are going to lazy & productive people are going to produce. Giving people enough to survive isn't going to stop the overwhelming majority from working because most people are going to want to better their lives no matter where they start out from. It just makes people happier. I always wonder about the people who would rather have someone starve to death in the streets or die from something easily preventable only because they hate the idea of someone getting something they had to pay for when they got it. To me, if someone can't afford food, housing or medicine, I want them to have it, not only because I believe that human life is valuable but because it's actually a more fiscally sound decision. Preventative healthcare is cheaper than acute healthcare. Housing the homeless is cheaper than dealing with all the problems created by homelessness. Providing people with a healthy diet is cheaper than paying for the healthcare required for people who can't afford to purchase healthy food. The only thing that stops us from implementing the more fiscally sound policy is the people who cry "how dare they get something when I don't." I find that incredibly sad.

I probably would've bought him a sandwich had I seen him earlier 5 blocks back... another time a little girl (this was in another country) asked me for food. After we gave her some she wouldn't go away until she took almost our whole roasted chicken... it's just never enough... I have TONS of stories like that. 🙄... You're a good person. One day, the entire world will be filled with humans that care about others and humans who don't take advantage of others' kindness.

They were black, brown or gray to make a point of not making a point: you were here not to show off, but to focus on the subject at hand and plainly do business. Nowadays billionaires often wear T-shirts just like middle class people and wear suits that are fancier, but essentially just a fancier version of the same thing, that a poorish person would wear.
