Can't be too surprised, it was 2015 Rafa, the worst year of his career. He was losing to many players in 2015 and playing abysmally through most of the year.

@@ashleythomas4112 Yet Federer played him 4 times in 2013 (plus AO 2014), when he was at his worst. If the same applied in 2015, Federer would be 21-24 in the H2H.

@@masters.1000 Eh, they played enough times over the course of their careers for Fed to have enough opportunities to have made that head to head closer. Fed 2014 AO version was not as bad as 2013, he beat Tsonga in straight sets in the last 16 and then Murray in the quarter finals (albeit a Murray still trying to regain his form after back surgery in late 2013). Rafa played really well to beat Fed in straight sets and Fed didn't play badly in that match, he just got outplayed by the better player on the night. Rafa could've led the head to head with Novak if they hadn't met 7 times in Rafa's worst, most dismal period of his career in 2015-16, but he turned up then, despite being nowhere near good enough to compete with Novak and thus you could say he trails that h2h 30-29 just because of that period alone.

@@masters.1000Federer basically avoided Nadal at FO since 2011, when Nadal won more than half of his total tally in RG.
