Interesting find. Also interesting that you ice them down for an extended time....easy to understand why .I fish hard water in the winter and firm meat and flavor of winter fish outshines open water catches once the water warms up. Of course my warm water is bone chilling cold compared to yours ...lol

They really do look like starfish. But, starfish are soft-bodied entirely. They have no skeleton like the bristleworm you also found (bristles were digested off). I'm only a hobbyist biologist... But I think we are looking at very flat vertebra, of a vertebrate fish. Like, I have never seen before. And maybe very few, or even no one has (more likely, at least someone has). They all had a center opening for a spinal cord. Alas, the star shapes and flatness of the vertebra... PLUS fishbrain- I would have made the same or similar assumption.... I'd probably have said "Look at these star sand dollars!" I might have even tried to spend them a short time later.

You can’t fillet a Northern Pike like a bass or catfish. It is completly different.
