Bobby Hatfield has the hi voice, Bill Medley the deep. The Dynamic Duo never disappoints. This may be my favorite song of theirs. They were bith on 🔥🔥🔥 FIRE doing Little Latin Lupe Lu and The Night Time is the Right Time with the Blossoms. Theres a video of this great song on Shindig variety show on KZfaq, hasn't got blocked. Their in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and surely deserve being there.

That high pitch was Bobby Hatfield singing "contra tenor" and "falsetto!!!" The songs back then were special because they were about "romance" and the artists back then performed them with "passion" and a belief in romance!!!

The massiveness you speak of is all Phil Specter. The producer and the creator of the Wall of Sound. All his songs he produced with a number of great groups of the time had that same sound. It was unmistakable. The volume on all his music was turned up. In more ways than one. Bobby Hatfield was the higher voice in this song. He also did some solo stuff himself. Hey Valencia, I've noticed you haven´t reacted to Bill Medley solo hit Brown Eyed Woman yet. It´s a really good song and it´s a about a white man being in love with a "brown eyed" aka black woman. Try to find the version with The Blossoms. Bill had a thing with their lead singer Darlene Love.

One difference between our songs from the 60s and now is that there were professional songwriters, like those who wrote for the Righteous Brothers. This song was written by Carole King and Jerry Goffin. You’re Lost that’s Loving Feeling, Soul and Inspiration, and Brown Eyed Woman was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. They continued to work with Bill in his solo career. When bands started writing all their own music, the professional songwriters were not needed. This isn’t bad in itself because it was just spread around more, but we did stop hearing some of these amazing writers. Also- Bobby could also sing in the counter tenor range, which is higher than tenor. Two very gifted singers!
