“Cumbres Pass To Los Pinos River”, Rio Grande Southern Mixed Freight Extra. After “Double Heading” the 4% grade with RGS #455 from Chama, RGS locomotive #20 departs Cumbres Pass solo for the trip to Antonito. I chased and captured the train traversing Tanglefoot Curve, whistle for the Apache Junction crossing and both sides of the Los Pinos River Valley.

#455 is really C&TSRR’s K27 #463 in disguise. Recently restored RGS #20 (from Colorado RR Museum, Golden) was trucked to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad's 50th Anniversary Celebration for private charters following the week long Victorian Iron Horse Roundup.

Thank you for sharing Sir. The back drop of changing seasons is just beautiful, the change in scenery in only 100 miles is just so drastic, Durango area in comparison to Antinito, Are you using a receiver dish for the sound at distance it's just so crisp?

Use something you don't see very often these days wouldn't snow sheds are now very rare not to mention the wooden snow shed that covered Norden on the summit of Donner Pass has all been removed even the covered turntable used to turn around their cab forward locomotives
