Overall, well done. I have been tracking Pico's progress with the Neo 2 being the first Pico hardware that the company sent me to review. Then later the Neo 3 and the G2 4K Enterprise. One major item that you left out was the on again, off again addition of a micro SD port which enabled unlimited memory space. Unfortunately, while the acquisition by bytedance may prove beneficial long-term, I think that there have been many missteps under the new leadership. They also seem to lose touch with the creators that they promised would get a monetization platform during the Pico 4 announcement. Unfortunately many of their promises have fallen short which is disappointing. Their inability to quell the controversy around tick tock is most definitely what prevented them from jumping into the US market which would have been a huge step forward.

The Pico 4 is still most people I knows favourite wireless PCVR headset. Many didn’t get the Quest 3 waiting for the Pico 5.

Nice docu man... very informative especially for us Pico users. I got my Pico at less the price of a bnew Quest 2 and this was the best decision for my PCVR hobby. I love this headset. Feels light on the head than my Quest 2 and the Pancake lenses for the price I paid is awesome! I know there are a few issues, no headset is perfect but for the price, nothing compares unless the Quest 3 drops for half the price hahaha.

True, the title is a bit dramatic but it moreso reflects their attempt at a wider market before withdrawing. We will see more of pico for sure just not in the Quest vr landscape.

Good overview, I didn't know that they had been going so long, I just thought they were a recent Meta clone from China. Interesting to see they had standalone HMDs before Meta. Guess we will find out where they go from here!

Thanks for the comment, that was actually the biggest takeaway I was hoping people would have so really happy to see that as your opinion. They definitely became much more 'meta clone' in style later, particularly in terms of software but in the earlier days they really were doing their own thing. I hope we see more of that originality come back as we need competition to be more than just financial, it should be competition of ideas and approaches also.

Honestly underrated video I hope pico 5 will be a thing because now pico library has grown significantly with big games like fnaf vr, among us vr and even vr chat coming to pico 4 Standalone looks to be actually not that bad and if pico 5 releases I think this may change many peoples opinion about standalone of that platform because from what I seen a lot of people are still under impression that pico library hasn’t changed all that much since pico 4 release I also really hope that bytedance will manage to go to the west even if I don’t live here I just know how huge market it is and it will definitely help pico compete with meta

Ha, interesting theory! I'm hoping to do a video on Pimax next but that would be an even longer video, they have a very interesting histoty and trajectory.

Excellent doc, matey. I love my PICO 4 and I believe it will evolve into an amazing standalone. I just don't understand how they didn't really advertise it on Prime Time Telly. I found PICO accidently while nearly purchasing a Meta Quest 2/3 from ARGOS online. I did a lot of digging and was very impressed, 2 days later, Penny, the Pico 4 arrived.
