The fact that the Seahawks are more remembered for not running it on the 1 than 43-8 shows how hard of a fall they had.

I remember reading a ton about how cheap everyone's contracts were and how the success would only last a couple season because players were all going to want to get paid at the same time and Wilson's future contract wouldn't allow it. Kam retiring didn't help either but it seems people saw what was coming.

Richard Sherman's reaction to that SB play is iconic....Pete Carroll, Bevels & Wilson are culpable for that happening. Everybody and they mamma knew Marshawn should've at least gotten 2 chances to run that ball. With two timeouts left, ain't no way that should've transpired like that..especially with the great forgotten catch by Kearse to get them in that position a few plays earlier. If they won that SB, they would've been the only team to not only beat both Peyton & Brady, but to beat them in back to back SBs. That would've cemented them as the greatest defense ever if not consideration for top 3
@davidlundquist1979
@davidlundquist1979 2 жыл бұрын
What made that play even more painful is that the intended Seattle receiver (I forget who it was) just went down like a sack of bricks. He clearly had NO idea a Patriot defender was anywhere near him. You'd think that, when a game-winning touchdown pass is coming at you, you might at least take a split second to check your peripheral vision.

@fgialcgorge7392

That was a great time to be a Seahawks fan. Rushing on offense and getting after the QB on defense in under 4 seconds was huge for them. It allowed the LOB to be more instinctive and gamble a bit more. They were usually just rushing 3-4 guys and dropping everyone else and still getting to the QB. Chancellor was the heart and soul of that defense. He set the time in the Superbowl vs the Broncos. After his hit on Thomas everyone was looking for "their" play. Then right as the announcers say Chancellor can't cover Wes Welker he's laid him out on a deep ball. What a defense and what Marshawn on offense?! Come on.

What made Willis and Bowman so special wasn't that they complimented each other, it was that they were both incredible all around linebackers who would rack up 125+ tackles a season along with multiple sacks, ints, FFs etc. I think they even had a streak of like 3-4 First team all pro seasons or something like that. Not even being bias tho but this team is fo sho top 5 defense of all time because they literally shut down the 75 touchdown Peyton Manning offense while leading the nfl in all defensive stats. They were such a joy to watch. Richard Sherman was the life of the team with his trash talk and Kam Chancellor was the Enforcer with his big hits and Earl Thomas was that underrated small guy with insane skills. They d-line was Michael Bennett’s and Cliff Avril with their linebackers being Bobby Wagner and K.J Wright. Sherman left, russ eventually left, we had to pay our star players like the stars they are, but without any confidence in Carroll. It's funny that this isn't the only team that lost all their luster after losing to the Patriots. I remember about six years ago the Houston Texans were considered one of the biggest rising stars in the league, and then they got completely shut out by the Patriots led by their third stringer, and after that they just kinda lost their stardom, had only a decent rest of the season, then lost to the Patriots again in the playoffs, and after that they were just never successful again.

No way. The Kam Chancellor hit on Jimmy Graham was legendary. Graham's career would never rebound after that hit. Prior to that he was the top tight end in the NFL.

After all these years I can only remember Sherman's trash talk on Brady and his iconic facial expression meme from SB 49.

The Legion of Boom was much more than the secondary. The D-Line and LBs were nasty too.

The 2000 Ravens didn't need a name. They just showed up, stopped offenses dead in their tracks and left.

It’s mind blowing how the Seahawks are remembered more not running it and blowing a Super Bowl lead instead of dominating a Super Bowl and most likely winning back to back Super Bowls had they called a different play.

Another monster Giants defense that prob should’ve been listed was the nascar front. Like 6 or 7 guys who would’ve been Number 1 pass rushers on a lot of teams

The high ego of Pete Carroll causing distrust amongst the rest of the players because he wanted Wilson to get all the glory will go down as one of the most “it’s about me” more than “for the team”moments in sports history.
