2017, a very memorable year for me. The amount of tears I've cried that time bc of frustration from unending fanwars with toxic kpoppies. How they planned to vote for JB and continuously laughing at BTS and degrading what they've just achieved. That award was once called the PAPER AWARD. That year was stressful,yet very rewarding. Seeing the boys standing on that prestigious stage that no other kpop group have ever done was so rewarding.

15:01 yeah about the first bbmas... it is a bittersweet memory for me honestly. we were sooooo happy and excited when they got nominated and then we started voting and i remember that we can vote on both twitter and the bbmas website, for the website there was a 100 vote limit per day if i remember correctly and i didn't miss a day (as well as a lot other armys) of casting these 100 votes per day on the website to prove the power of bts and armys (i didn't miss a day of voting even though i had school final exams as well as college entrance exam at those times lmao- it was beautiful to come home from my final exam and the first thing i would do is to grab my phone to cast my votes for the day) . as for voting on twitter, we would make #btsbbmas trending number 1 world wide and from here comes the bitter memories. because bts were the first and only kpop act to be nominated in such category along with big western artists, kpopers were... envious? bitter about it? jealous? i don't know but they started voting for those against bts just to see bts losing! and then they were like "as a (fandom name) we don't need such nomination, our (group name) don't need this. pass this to other fandom" and all the fandoms united against armys and they'd bully us and were like this until years later when their groups got nominated for the same category and against bts they were d'ying to win it... but bts won it every year ever since 2017. the voting was so much fun until other fandoms got into the picture. i also remember when they got nominated they weren't invited yet to the award show and just about two weeks before the show bts shared the invitation to the bbmas and that was one of my happiest memories!!! and sorry i had a lot to say but i couldn't keep these memories to myself

I'm 2017 Army, I got captured by Spring Day. I still remember that BBMAS, I have never ever voted so much for an artist that I have for that first nomination. I even tuned in like 4, 5am for a low-res fancam livestream.. then had to stay awake til the award show ended cos the boys always go live after. Luckily I didn't have to go to work that day.

Their Billboard win introduced me to them that night and I never looked back. I love them so much and I am proud to be an ARMY. Both BTS and ARMY helped to bring me out of a deep depression that I was in to the point that I thought I deserved to be there so I did nothing to help myself but now I know I deserve to be happy and I am loving myself more everyday. 32:45 it's called fan signs; when they drop a new album, part of the promotions of it is to hold a fan sign event where armys will bring their albums (or they can buy them at the venue i guess) and bts will sign them. i remember these were draws like you don't just fight to buy a ticket you have to fight spiritually for good luck lmaoooo i'm not sure though if it was always like this.. the last time bts did a fansign was with mots:persona in 2019 which was their last album before covi'd came into picture to prevent them from doing such events :(

I’ve been an army ever since the Fire era, I can’t even put into words how proud I was seeing them receiving the recognition they deserve. Every memories are still so vivid, from nights after nights staying up until 2 or 3 am to vote, creating tons of twitter accounts, carefully counting every tweets to make sure there were 100 of them, checking the total number of votes once every hour,… And not just me, I know that every army at that time were all so determined to give it their all to get this award for our boys. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen such a united, passionate fandom, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it 🥰

I just can't forget 2017. It was my first year as an ARMY and the top social BBMA was the first BTS vote that I participated in. When BTS received the award I still couldn't believe we won and then I was determined to learn more about BTS and become an ARMY until now.

When BTS were at bbma for the first I remember that I went to my friend house to just watch them performing because in my country their are different types of tv providers in India so ..in our tv we didn't have VH1(which is a chennal that provides foreign songs and of course bbma ) .. .. therefore I was so happy and excited as well as nervous at the same time ..and finally when they won i was soooo.. happy and proud of them 💜💜💜

Im a 2013 ARMY, im with then during the hate, discrimination and everything. During that time, i remember that we really tried our best to get the recognitions that BTS deserve. It is a tough time, especially that we entered the main music industry...a lot of hate that was thrown to discourage BTS and ARMYs. I've been involve in a several fanwars not just between other idol's fandom but also with the fandom of some big names in US music industry. But we never gave up, we continued to support BTS and their music. Voting, streaming, twitter parties, albums, tickets, hyping the reaction videos, donations, charity, name it..we did it all just to gain the fame and recognition for BTS. Maybe that is also the reason why we gained the title as powerhouse and biggest fandom, it's all hard work and team work😉 And of course, when BTS won the awards...i nearly fainted and literally cried. Like a parent(their still older tho) who saw their children achieving their dreams...proudest moment.

I became a fan in February 2017 so Bangtan's first BBMA was my first award show (as far as I remember). I created twitter for them so I can help in voting. It's my first time ever to vote passionately everyday. I was at the office when they announced Bangtan as the winner and me and my friend/officemate literally screamed because of happiness and excitement. 💜💜💜

The year they first got nominated in BBMAs was probably the first year I became an active ARMY in Twitter (I'm a 2016 ARMY!) and it was just: wild. I was there a few months before the announcement and once it WAS announced, army twitter was flooded with researching how to maximize the potential of the votings, and encouraging people to use the hashtags and opening the links. Every single day, because it was the first time we felt that they were noticed in a greater scale, every ARMY felt like it was their responsibility to at least tweet about the hashtag and the voting link more than twice. It was one of the first times I saw ARMYs collaborate on an even larger scale, and this plus our concert fan projects, made me and a lot others realize that we can create something amazing with the love we have for BTS. So now, look at us! We have charity organizations, groups dedicated to teaching fellow ARMYs their homework, art and design, finance, and even book clubs! We are truly a huge and amazing community :))

This is the most amazing moment in my whole life as an army since 2014, I remember how I cried a lot when billboard announced that they win such an award and Oppa NamJoon's speech make my heart fill with overwhelming mixed emotions.. since before I know that the boys has such potential to be a big group in the whole world, and give my high hopes for them for 9 years. Me and my family are very proud finally our boys made it.💜💜 I was literally felt sad that this video was blocked, and then my mood definitely change after a see this now.. AOTD: I'm an ARMY since Just One Day era 2014, so yep 2017 BBMAs was one of thrilling yet exciting moment! I was at college at that time. Me and my bestfriends (I successfully turned them into ARMYs in 2016 lol) were passionately voting on twitter until we reached the limit of tweeting amount in a day 😅 and when they announced the award, I was at class and my bff was at canteen (fortunately it was recess time), then my bff ran into our class and said they about to announce the winner. When they said "BTS!" we screamed so loud 😆 then we celebrated it with ice cream "party" after school

For me Suga is never Intimidating. I feel from the start that he is kind of person don't like talking to much but For me is always Cutest boy I ever seen in my Life (Not in stage though😜)😍❤. I remember in 2017 that I was so nervous but excited when they announced BTS nomination and that they would really go to the BBMAs. I was screaming like crazy and then crying when BTS won Top Social artist agains all those huge singers like Justin (he won 6 years in a row i think), Ariana, Shawn, Selena... it was amazing! I couldn’t believe it. I was like “they totally deserve it”. It’s definitely an unforgettable moment. 🥺 I never felt that nervous before (except when they won best album and best artist in 2016) however, you know what I mean, they were the first Korean artist to won that award in the BBMAs. They are were doing something beyond Kpop and that hits different. BUT, I can’t deny those years were really hard to BTS and ARMY for the amount of hate, racist and xenophobic remarks. (And sadly this is still happening) the world was literally agains them but our love and passion for the boys was stronger.💜 We proved to other fandoms, locals and haters that they were wrong. We proved that BTS is awesome and they were just doing history again. 🙌🏻💜 I guess familia really felt something similar when Bangtan won artist of the year in the AMAs because I was REALLY nervous too. 😭👏🏻🎉💜 I’M SO PROUD.

Yeah, the way the (majority) kpop industry acted towards BTS was *VERY* different back in 2017 Nowadays most of the industry/fans are upset bc BTS’ continuing to win everything “blocks” other groups from succeeding (that’s their logic anyway 🙄) but back then it was so rare for kpop groups to get recognition in the west so it didn’t matter who you were a fan of the majority of Kpop fans would vote for you, solely bc it was a win for kpop

I checked them out that time because they had a concert in my country and they were on the local news so I had to check them out and see what's up. Now look at me still an ARMY 'til now. As for the BBMAs I was already an ARMY that time. It was an amazing experience. They were all over on Twitter and I opened that account because of them and use it to vote for them too. Though they received a lot of backlashed and hate that time, those hate cannot change the amount of pride that we have for BTS! My ARMY pride goes 📈📈📈

I am an ARMY since 2013 and honestly this BBMA is a new thing for us as well. I remembered how many tutorials of how to vote that I watched and hoe many times I saw ARMYs having these Hashtags party. We bowed to support them and we gave it all. We really want them to win. And so we did. It's really hard also that people tried to sabotage. Some other fandoms teaming up to support the other artist that are also nominated. I remembered seeing Tweets that says they will team with this fandom to not let BTS take home the award. Even calling ARMYS delusionals for wanting that award for them. We also faced a lot of people saying that is just a "paper award" and that doesn't show the impact of BTS. It's chaotic and hard but looking back to all the things that happened since then, it's all worth it.

I became fan the day after BBMAS 2017... and goodness, the amount of people hated on them without even knowing their names were insane. Sometime people are hated because they did something wrong, but those people in media/ twitter didn't even know who BTS were, but they hated them. Because BTS were Asian. It was a rude awakening for me as an Asian.

I still like to go watch fancams of BTS entering the auditorium - there is an absolutely electric buzz when BTS enters the room and you can just tell: Someone BIG has arrived. All the Westerns were confused and wondering what had changed, but something had definitely shifted in the air when our boys arrived. I still get goosebumps when I rewatch those videos! Armys really showed up in attendance to make sure our boys felt comfortable. I was so proud of our fandom for showing our love and support to the boys!

Here in Brazil, we would go to famous people's tweeters and ask them to ask their fans to vote for BTS for the BBMAs and they asked why we wouldn't leave them alone until they asked hauauuaua... There was even a bank who posted the vote requests on their twitter. We made a big case here, I think all over the world.

I was an Army before 2017. This moment was MIND-BLOWING in the history of Bts. It really secured the point that BTS were a Big Deal in the US. Kpop stans and Western stans kept trying to downplay their success, but I think it was the moment the music industries and Armys knew that BTS was about to take over the whole world.

As an ARMY from an earlier era than this, i am overwhelmed literally.. starting from their first win for I Need U, it just all happened at once and so fast. The kpop community was deffinalty not on ARMYs side during the 2017 BBMAs. They created fake tags and teamed up with western stans to try and beat us. Bangtan won that award cause of ARMYs, not anyone else.
