Slowly but surely working my way through "The Rise of Bangtan" documentary series. This one gave me a better understanding of how BTS's Lyrics voiced the feelings of a whole generation very early on, the strength of the bond between Army and BTS and the kind of backlash that the BTS rap line had to face.

*Thats the thing with bts---they broke out of the 'perfect idol' shell and talked about their vulnerabilities. They even talked about their mental health issues and RM released a song about his suicidal thoughts called 'ALWAYS' on soundcloud. AGUSTD/SUGA released 'the last' about his whole social anxiety, depression etc..Jimin and Jin have talked openly about their diets and how it had affected them. V has become a deep thinking individual and cried on stage talking about his GRANDMAS death with millions of fans watching him on stage or through a device. Jhope has mentioned how his name made him and that he is not always so smily and happy. Jungkook has mentioned about how he to maintain his 'GOLDEN MAKNAE' image and how much pressure it is to him. Their docu series show them in crippling pain and sheer exhaustion revealing what happens behind the stage. They talk aBout their injuries and health issues*

Jin makes me sad here, because when he released abyss a few months ago I think he was still struggling with that feeling of whether he “deserved” all this love. To struggle with that for all these years makes me so sad. What I love about this series is being able to see so much of them back then, they are still the same sweet humble army loving guys which is amazing given how big they’ve become. 💜💜💜💜💜

It's possible that's he's struggled the whole time, but I think it's equally as possible that he had those thoughts as a rookie, had them at Hot 100 #1, but wasn't struggling in the in between times. Mental health is not always static--you can make great strides in it and then be right back where you were some years ago due to new circumstances.

*About Jin- I have been a fan since blood, sweat and tears era. As a young fan, I was presented to a very confident 'blowing-kisses' jin BUT He is an introvert and is very shy according to the members. Him and Yoongi are roommates and they often mention about how quiet it can get when the two of them are together in their room. His MBTI is INTP (which he rated to be accurate: 4.5/5 stars. Many ARMYs questioned his type but if you ask me, it is very accurate. INTPs are known to be one of the more introverted types, and lesser-known, they tend to be social chameleons, like Jin). He was presented with the archaetype of the 'handsome brooding guy' in his earlier years. Jin also tends to have very high self doubt and his 'fake it till you make it' persona by calling himself WWH actually worked and since then he has put on the persona. HE is a very private person...no one knows much about his family or background..very mysterious in my opinion. Suga seems to be the mystery person but that man has opened up about his deepest darkest fears-----*

When you react to NO, notice how the staircase scene looks familiar. They recreated the scene at MMA 2020 including the exact same line up (with an open space in Suga's place). Even the shot of the foot at the end of the stairs was the same. So they used a scene from NO as an intro to ON... Someone has a sense of humor. 😏

To your point abt the irony of the trainee system, I have to say, the problem arises when you are forced. In Asian countries education is so drilled into becoming a gruelling task that even if you have other interests and and other needs, you are still pressured to go the path of your parents. It is changing though but very gradually. (i am an Indian and the education system and society is pretty similar here too, hence why I said 'Asian countries'. I'm not generalising anything. If offensive, I will edit my comment. I am still learning ☺️ so pls correct me if I'm wrong.) So, even though the trainee system is equally gruelling, they are moving forward for their dreams, not because the society or family wants you to become something but because you want this. The hard work, rules and pressure of the trainee system is thought to be the sacrifices to reach your ambition whereas in the education system you don't have that choice most of the time. Hence, the irony is present but it is not the complete story.

You observation of youth or ppl in general looking for a way out in idols/celebrities was very thoughtful and spot on. To escape from you imperfect lives you look for perfect lives. And you don't want to see imperfections as they will not elevate your low moods. But I think now ppl are realising that when celebrities show imperfections and when we feel we can relate to them, it is more cathartic (meaning : emotional unburdening (psych student. Sry😂)) it is more helpful than seeing perfection.

Early BTS always make me cry. It breaks my heart to see such beautiful kids (I am talking about their hearts) trying so hard, getting knocked down, always vowing to do better and work harder, so thankful for any appreciation they get - if I could, I would turn back time and give them the world 💔 They really do make me cry, and hurt my heart terribly. When I watch them in their early days (JK at 14/15, Jimin and Tae at 16/17 etc), now (when I am 25 - and yes, irl only Jk is younger than me and only by a year), I find myself wondering if this is how a parent feels when they have to watch their children struggle and grow in a cruel world (my own parents are dead, so I can’t ask them 🤷‍♂️) - I imagine it’s worse when you have kids, but it must be in the same spectrum of emotion, surely? I only hope, if I have them, that my kids are even half as grateful as these boys... They own the world now anyway of course, and they deserve every bit of love, recognition, respect, and appreciation that they get - and a LOT more (there are still people who disrespect them, which baffles me). Glad you are delving into their history, and happy that you are enjoying the journey. Take care 💜

About your question, the difference between their education system (schooling) enforcement and idol trainees is that school is parents, school or society enforcing kids no matter what kids want. That's why their lyric is saying don't follow somebody else's dream. And the later one is these guys/girls want to become idols (their own dream) and it's their decisions to keep going or quit as idol trainees. Guess why BTS came out with more than several songs & raps towards haters. As you saw they weren't accepted neither rap world nor idol world. There are many idol groups who come from small companies struggle at the beginning. But BTS was targetted to be hated a lot more because no groups came with hiphop concept before. BTS Instead of arguing with those haters RM & the boys said "Ok, we will prove them." They want to be a bridge between hip pop and pop artists. And they did.

I can't fathom that on one hand you have alot of pressure to get good grades, to be able to attend to these prestigious Universities, and on the other hand suicidal rates are stupendously high! After that so called rapper( that we should not name lol) insulted RM and Suga for being girls... came the cyphers and they're talent shined with their lyrics. In cypher 2 there's a line from Sugas verse that says "You go, to Hawaii" basically saying to that rapper to go home ( that rapper grew up in Hawaii). I love RMs line too.. You know what’s genuinely ironic, South Korea is one of the few countries (that I know of) where it is socially acceptable and normal for men to wear light makeup in their everyday lives. Yet, when BTS wear makeup to perform (bc you need to otherwise you look like a ghost with stage lighting and to cover up blemishes that such high quality cameras will pick up) they are told they’re trying to be women. I mean I don’t give 2 💩s about B-free but the hypocrisy and gatekeeping in this clip just annoys me bc no one criticizes all the Korean men that wear make up everyday just bc they want to.

The album is pronounced as O! R U L8 2? as in Oh! Are you late too? 😊 They have group chant where fans would chant their name "Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!" They also have song chant although not all songs have it. The most memorable one is Fake Love. At the chorus part, after each "....fake love" lyrics, fans would respond with "FAKE LOVE!" Everytime I heard the chant for Fake Love, it gives me goosebumps. Another great song chant is Magic Shop where they would sing "So show me" and fans would respond with "I'll show you...." And like the clips in this episode, Rise of Bangtan song, when the "...bang...tan..." part, fans would respond with "BANG!" "TAN!" And fans also would sing along/chant "The rise of Bangtan Sonyeondan..." lyrics, etc. In Cypher Pt.2, there's a part in Yoongi's verse where he said "Go back to Hawaii", he was talking about the guy in that interview cause he grew up in Hawaii. Savage Yoongi 🤣 Oh, if you react to Rise of Bangtan anytime soon, you have to also watch the Live at Japan Epilogue version where they sang the song in Japanese. There were a lot of growling and they're being their goofy-self as usual. Nico nico niii?! 🤣🤣🤣

I didn’t know that you didn’t need to do entrance exams in order to apply to a certain university in Germany. Wowwww. That’s great. My senior year(3 years ago) is one of the most terrifying nightmare in my life. Looking back then, not only fighting in academic field but we had to fight with our own mental healths as well. I barely eat that I lost 3-4 kg weight, cried til my father scold me(lol), couldn’t stay home and couldn’t be alone until the very end of the year. That was really tough. I think we do have similar school system in ASEAN and Brazil.

I think the way she explained it, there is still entrance exams but it’s only given by each university/college vs. that of the SKorean system of standardized test for a national ranking system that determines which schools you will only be qualified for. It’s pretty similar here in our country each individual university sets their own criteria in accepting students. Although there is still NSAT’s (similar to that in the US) but i think it’s mainly just used as evaluating the schools’ performance and not the main reference to being accepted into colleges.

Yes and no. I really meant it how I said it: there‘s no entrance exam for German universities. However, each university and each faculty have certain criteria you have to match if you want to start studying there. This criteria is the grade that you got from your Abitur (German A-Levels). So basically, the grade you get when graduating High School determines where you can go to Uni and what you can study, but you don‘t have to take any exams after that in order to qualify since you already qualify with your A-Level grade if that makes sense. 😊

Please react to Hardships of BTS 2013-2021 by xceleste. I think you will understand better what they went through when they debut and stuff now. She just released this updated video Also you have to realize that when they released N.O. that was a very risky career move especially when you are a very new group. You should react to the video of BTS breaking stereotypes. Also Jin I believe during this time was told he was untalented or the weakest link because he had to learn to sing and dance from nothing. Also all it didn’t come as naturally as everyone else (that is what I believe by his song Abyss).

A tiiiny part of me ALMOST feels a tiiiiny bit of pity for that extremely foolish man who was so ridiculouslly rude and horrible to RM and Suga, considering the resulting bomb blast of the Cyphers, heard around the PLANET, and knowing how dedicated ARMY is to making his life and career an ongoing hell to this day, and I'm sure for the rest of his days, despite at least 2 apologies. Nah, no mercy, he STILL acts like a massive A-Hole. The toxic opposite of J-Hope, lolol. Also, considering the extreme intensity of S. Korea's school system and the vital importance that they place on kids getting into the right University, it really struck me to find out the Seo Taiji, the primal creator of Kpop, actually dropped out of high school. The stigma for doing that must be ENORMOUS there. You should watch that documentary video about him on KZfaq.
