The reason why the Crusades happened so early I think is because Canterbury counts as a Holy Site in the Christian Heartland, so when the Asatru Vikings took over it triggered the Heartland Under Siege event

@3:09 For the child there is 2 possibilities. 1: Game rule granting you a child to prevent premature end of lines. 2: He had a historically known child but the mother, as is the case for many mothers in this time period, was never recorded in history, so rather than make one up, they just left it blank.

i've never played a crusader kings game cause it looked overwhelming, but the way you pace the game it's making it easy to understand and now i'm saving up to try out CK3 :>

@@Phangmaster it was really complicated at first but you get the swing of it quickly. Do a short campaign with a faction you don’t care about much at first because everything can and will go wrong lol

You do not have to enter a battle, or hold the territory, you just have to walk into the appropriate province to get the crusader trait

@35:32 Jarl Haestein's special troops stick with him for his entire life. They disappear when he dies so his heir loses them. But if you look again at his army comp, he had over 2k mercenaries and they stick with you for 3 years, then you can renew the contract, so he could potentially have them for another 6 years. One thing about the Special Troops, is that while he gets them for his entire life, they do not replenish, so lost soldiers from that group are gone for good, so the more conflicts he's in, the weaker he gets over all. Ivar the Boneless etc. all get special troops to start with. it is the disappearance of these special troops on their death that helps the Anglo-Saxon's retake England in most play throughs (when players aren't involved).

The initial learning curb can be exhausting, but once you get the hang of game mechanics then this game is just mad fun. Edit: took me around 5 days to fully get the hang of everything.

I don't know about everyone else but I found. That this game is just the right amount of complexity for me, I found crusader Kings 2 and Europa 4 to just have too much going on for me to cope, I've always wanted to get into this style of game I just found the other two to be just too much for me, felt like I had to spend hours learning how to play the games rather then just playing, with crusader Kings 3 there's still a lot for me to learn but I feel like I know enough to play and it didn't take me long to do it😆 loving the game so far

Ck 3 is my first game in the series. The further into the game you get the more complicated it gets lol. Marrying family members for alliances and stuff, then many years later my kingdom pops up all over the world and I have NO idea how i got it xD

How do you protect yourself from raids? Aside from just killing them, that is. Is there a technology or skill or whatever that slows raiding progress? Or maybe something that boosts your army against raiders perhaps?
