Thank you so much for positing this, Derek “Spearo” Ling was my grandad, I can’t tell you how much this video meant to me. It was a hidden gem, thank you so very much. Fascinating watch, and something I will show my mum and treasure it together.

You're not the first person to have found a relative in my uploads, which makes me think I should do a rewatch of this series to list the names of the contributors.

I found out about a year ago a major part of my families roots were port of London and there was a Harris amongst the interviews and you guessed it, they were Harrises. A fairly common surname so maybe no connection at all but it was still fantastic to get a look into their world.

The one thing these episodes are missing are the old Thames Television ident to start the show, especially as it was shown on ITV 😂

Thanks for posting this series. It is fascinating. I have a question about the production values. The series looks to have been shot on film. The contemporary footage is sometimes contrasty, with bright highlights and shadows on faces. Something that 2021 videographers might try to correct. And the color balance looks biased toward the reds, while deficient in other colors. Skin looks red or brown. Blue skies look faded. The vintage footage looks to have been colorized to sepia. I understand that the series is thirty years old, and there will be some deterioration, but I wonder if you saw this program when it was originally aired. If so, were my observations part of the original art direction, or the effect of time on the original film? Or are they examples of the way that video tape is compromised over the years? A response is appreciated. Thanks for the consideration.

The first record of a human turd floating down the River Thames was in 11347 BC by Druid Chief Oaken Longstanks.

... in a ship in Thames, .... over the sea into Zealand, ... tarried at the Foreland, ... First she told about Englishman then she highlighted about Frenchmen language. I am out today. The billboard is changed. There is a royal mosque there. Lastime it was a Somalee old Muslim woman's face and some 'alive' female/kids local faces of my kind. I do not see well. A chinese non-Muslim face? A man with singlet showing strong muscles. Dizzy. What a world. Old book. No ISBN. Copyright, 1951, by Harold Whitehall. 1st published in 1958.

At around 9 minutes, I had to stop watching. I know that old man is speaking English, but my ears aren't understanding.
