I wanted to do that on mine but the VW bolt pattern is very hard to convert to. I think I am going to run the same TIRE, carry a spare tire only and take a pair of tire spoons so I can change the tire on the side of the road, then limp it to a tire shop to balance it.

Thought about that, didn’t want to get into aligning them, and I’m not 100% sure what kind of steel they are and how they would take to be welded. I welded on a spindle once and it broke. Not sure if it took the temper out, or if it became brittle, or what.
