I am Scottish too. That word is used in Scotland as a term of endearment ---or not---depending on the context. When a Scot says it it’s usually not difficult to understand the context.

Little wonder Lemmy did not leave a huge estate behind him, he treated everybody who worked for him right, paid them right and thats up there with his rock legacy 💪

Back in '83 I met Lemmy in the Embassy Club on Bond Street. He was on the bandit with a pint pot full of pound coins. I asked him about a job on the crew, he bought me a drink and patiently explained, still intent on the fruit machine, that I had no relevant skill set & would just be in the way! He was friendly, approachable, & honest! A fantastic hour chatting with a legend

Lemmy was such a wonderful, good hearted man, and the love with which he treated the Motorhead roadies is just one more example of that. Absolutely love the Road Crew performing "We Are The Road Crew", they play it well!

I met him a couple of times down The Marquee Club in London in the early 80s. He was always by the bar at the fruit machines. He was always willing to chat and share stories. Considering at the time Motorhead were a huge band riding high in the charts He was so down to earth. One time I remember he was at a little known punk band The Blood, I remember him saying he loved to see the emerging new punk stuff, plus he always got in for free haha. He was such a cool guy I was an 18 year old punk rocker and here he was chatting and really taking an interest to what I had to say

Lemmy's tribute to his roadcrew was epitomized on the 'Ace of Spades' album and his attitude towards them never changed. Only in Heavy Metal/rock do you see roadcrews respected so much.

so true. I met Tim before before a show in TO back in '96...me and a buddy were waiting at the door way too early for the show. Lemmy saw us and had his assistant let us in. We were around for sound check and stuff. My buddy is a bass player, so he got to geek out talking to Lemmy and Tim was there and chatted for a bit. Best concert experience of my life.

I was really surprised to learn that Lemmy's net worth at time of death was only $1 Million. For a rock legend with 22 studio albums under his belt this just doesn't seem right. Where did his money go ?
@fives.
@fives. Жыл бұрын
The stuff he hoarded in his apartment seemed obscure enough but all of that Nazi memorabilia and other dark stuff actually comes up to a quite a hefty appraised sum. Lemmy definitely wasn't letting anyone into his shit to appraise it either lol Edit: also, back into the band; it's easy to forget in 2023 that in the early 2000's Motorhead and Iron Maiden were still a wee ways away from being respected enough as iconic legacy acts - Ozzfest had just taken off and people were still trying to figure out what had aged well and what didn't. By the time Motorhead snagged a Grammy off of a Metallica cover, the world figured out that basically the way AC/DC operated, Motorhead did it louder harder and faster with zero finesse, so Motorhead releasing the same album for thirty years made them just as dependable but not as wildly profitable for a long while, that long while being the 90's.
@hw2508
@hw2508 Жыл бұрын
Probably they got ripped off by management, labels etc. years ago and more than once. Also, it didn't seem that they cared too much for increasing their wealth. Tickets were not too expensive. What did Lemmy had to pay for? Not sixty cars, not two chefs and a private jet. One million is quite some money if all you need is simple things.
