Between the death of Brian Jones and the introduction of Ronnie Woods, there was the Mick Taylor era. Full of great songs and sold out tours, Mr. Taylor said see ya and went on to other things. But it was really great while it lasted.

After reading much biographical info on Bowie, there certainly was much interaction between all parties involved, but Keith Richards stated emphatically in an interview that the song was NOT written about her. Angie Bowie certainly believed it was / is about her from her accounts. So there is certainly some ambiguity there, but that certainly doesn't take anything away from the song. Gorgeous tune!

@@j.j.4150 You are one of those who finds fault with other people's posts and gets a feeling of superiority from doing so. I have read several different accounts of who Angie really was, and the stories change from day to day, depending on what mood Richards and/or Jagger are in that day. All I said was that Angie as David Bowie's ex-wife and father of Duncan Jones, and that, my friend, is the truth.

A truly great singer MUST be a good actor, or at least in touch with their emotions to bring the song to irs full power....think of Mercury, Plant, Jaeger, Floor Jansen, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Maynard James Keenan...many others. Plenty of BS long circulating about this one, who it's about, etc., but Keith's girlfriend Anita Pallenberg had just given birth as Keith was in rehab and just finding himself able to play guitar again. She ended up being Angela, but not clear it's about her any more than Angie Bowie, though a better bet, imo, and the name just mellifluous, fitting in cadence enough for the song as it emerged, again, imo. Love Keith's graceful acoustic, Nicky Hopkin's pretty piano and as you say, Mick's impassioned vocal performance.

Chad, Helene here. As a child of the sixties, I’m truly surprised about what you keep saying about men expressing their feelings through music decades ago but not now. I find that odd. After decades of guys supposedly working on their sensitivity, and “getting in touch with their emotions” I would have thought that young men these days would feel much more free to express their emotions in music. That was certainly what many mothers of my generation taught their sons.....who would be the same age as your dad. You don’t seem to have an issue with it. So.......do men your age not feel comfortable expressing their feelings in general, or are you speaking more narrowly about music here? I’m honestly really curious.....and truly surprised by what you have said
