La and Che: The Stones wrote this song in 1972 after a 14 year old unarmed African American kid was walking with his father to the NYC auto-body shop where his dad worked at 5am so he could watch him work. Two plainclothes cops jumped out of a car and allegedly did NOT ID themselves. The boy and his dad thought they were being mugged and ran away and one of the cops fatally shot the 14-year old in the back. The Dad ran to a MARKED police car and had them drive over to the crime scene thinking that he and his son were mugging victims and the regular cops and the dad allegedly saw the 2 plain-clothes cops kicking the dead teen's body. They were tried criminally BUT acquitted by a majority white jury when the cops said they were investigating an armed robbery (involving 2 30+ year olds)- the first time NYC police were criminally charged for a BLM style event- but the shooter was kicked off the force for this act and prior events with other people and the family WON at civil trial for unlawful death of their son. It came out in the civil trail that the cop who did the shooting had shot another Black man in the back.....

Trump's cops. Keith Schiller. His racist gang within NYPD. Same scumbag who accused Central Park 5 of rape and murder, acquitted by DNA evidence that linked it to a white serial rapist murderer. Anyone of color nursing Trump's racist moobs because he conned criminals like Don King and a few others to take the money to pretend Stop & Frisk policies Fred & Donald Trump implemented with Mafia fixer Roy Cohn, if you weren't awake for Central Park 5, well in 1970's, Fred and Donald's housing discrimination was in peak operation. Paying dirty cops to clear out people of color near their condos and towers they contended lowered their real estate values just walking around nearby. Keith Richards knows all about racist shitbag Trumpedo.

This was the Era when The Stones had the pulse of the street in all of their music, like many artists of the day. It was gritty and unflinching. No sugarcoating at all. Grew up loving this space in music, prior to Punk and Disco as a kid. It had the residue of the 60’s struggles all over it. It was real, powerful and beautiful. You guys are killin it! 🤘😎

Goats head soup is an underrated album, so good. The funny part is I’m revisiting the stones primarily because of watching your reactions. When you’re growing up with it in your home you tend to take it for granted. Thanks!

You could just do Stones reactions for the next six months and probably not find any bad or throwaway songs. There were back then, and still to this day, are something very special. Bangers stacked on top of each other, song by song, album by album. BTW, The Doobie Brothers, The Stones and Grand Funk on the same day….pure 🔥. You guys are killin’

Most bands: 5 - 10 good songs and most of the rest is filler. Stones: 40+ well known songs, with the best being as good as anyone else's. And the rest of their songs - lots of them are better than their hits.

There's also a definite ode to the funky soul of artists like Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield, not just in sound but overt social consciousness. Moreover, it was the height of blaxploitation, which probably had as much influence on this track as what was really happening on the streets. “Fingerprint File” on the next album ups the ante.

IM SO GLAD YOU ARE DISCOVERING MY GENERATIONS MUSIC. My first concert when i was 15 was the Beatles at Atlanta Stadium in 1965. I was fortunate enough to see Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Dylan, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, The Allman Bros Band. I could go on and on but I never got to see the Stones live. You have to hear GIMMEE SHELTER,JUMPING JACK FLASH, TUMBLING DICE, UNDER MY THUMB. YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT, ANGIE, WILD HORSES, RUBY TUESDAY AND LADY JANE. ENJOY. SATISFACTION,

Love this album!! And all other Stones album lol. I don't think I've heard a bad song from them like ever!! I'm so happy my mom introduced me to them and is taking me to their concerts! Saw them last year in Milan and my god they were just AMAZING. Seeing and hearing Wild Horses live was unreal.... Still mind blowing that Mick jagger did the concert in 38 degrees Celsius (it's like almost 100 degrees F I think??) 10 days after getting tested positive of covid. Like who does that??? Most would have cancelled the whole tour, like some do that are 1/4 of his age... no names mentioned haha.. but not Mick Jagger. Nope. Living legend. Mad respect.

Billy Preston played piano on this song, and Chuck Findley played trumpet. Other artists Chuck Findley other worked for include George Harrison, Quincy Jones, Diana Ross, the Carpenters, Rod Stewart, and Robert Palmer. This is a trumpet-heavy track that pushes the sound Jagger wanted. Great choice, guys.

Billy Preston (clavinet and Electra piano) and Mick Taylor (lead guitar) use the wah-wah effect brilliantly here. Be sure to listen to some of the live versions from 1973, where Taylor cuts loose. Also, not enough can be said of Jim Horn’s masterly horn arrangement.

Yes, the Jamaican album, as I often refer to it. It's less focused than its four predecessors, but the high points are peak-era Stones, and it coincides with the band’s phenomenal European Tour of 1973, where they played with a matchless synergy and tightness compared to ensuing tours. I like the album, even if its hazy production bogs down some of the tracks, and it marks a shift from long-time producer Jimmy Miller, in addition to more ballad territory. All in all, a very good record that teeters on greatness.

Great music is timeless and always applies to the generations who come afterwards. I often wonder how many if today's artists will have such staying power and legacies with their music catalogs. The Stones were poets and writers more than a one trick pony as a proclaimed number one Rock snd Roll band. So much depth there woth their love of the blues, Motown, Jazz abd Rock.
