Great song. Even John Lennon, who rarely gave compliments, said this song is truly original. “She had to heave me right across her shoulders”, to get him “upstairs for a ride”, “cause I just can’t seem to drink you off my mind.” Love it.

A retired hippie chick, hmmm? I remember that year well. I was 23. This song was, for me, the high point of the Altamont concert. They slowed it down considerably for that show and it was amazing. Some of the record shops had a back room with bootlegs you could buy. Someone in the sound booth recorded this and enough others to fill an album, "Liver Than You'll Ever Be." The LP is impossible to find nowadays (correct me if I'm wrong!), but the CD version is around and worth the investment.

Jamel AKA Jamal is by far the absolute BEST of the best of reaction videos. I love that he keeps a extremely open mind when listening to these classic songs and that he gives a true reaction and almost always here’s the intended meaning of the song. Some songs are left up for interpretation by the listener and Jamel/Jamal usually picks up on the point as well. These reaction videos have gained a large following on KZfaq with many content creators doing reaction videos as their only form of content they release. I feel like a lot of people are only listening to these songs because they either see a lot of other platforms have already reacted to these songs or at the behest of their subscribers. Jamel/Jamal seems to have a genuine interest in wanting to hear these different songs. It’s all excellent content

Around 1969, me and a gang of bikers used to ride to a biker cafe in UK on our Triumphs and BSA's and Harleys , and had fun in there. A high point of the evening, was to play the fruit machine /slot machine, which had a faulty coin insert thing, which if you hit it hard, added 10 more plays for free. But you had to hit it hard. At that time ,Honky Tonk Women was one of the loudest, most bassy songs on the juke box,so we used to put Honky Tonk Women on,to drown out the bangs we gave to the fruit machine ,and when we banged hard on the faulty fruit machine , it gave us multiple credits, which paid for all our beer and food that night. Good days .

So this song was originally written as a twangy country song called "Country Honk", which eventually appeared on their album Let It Bleed. Keith Richards described it as a song written in the style of 1930s Jimmie Rodgers or Hank Williams. They soon soon transformed the song into this version, giving it a more kicked up bluesy rock feel and modifying the lyrics. This version was released as a single, and it became one of their best known hits. I love them both, but particularly love the acoustic guitar work on Country Honk. You should check that one out too.

During the 60's I wasn't a Stones fan. As I got older I learned to appreciate them a lot. They are the embodiment of rock and roll. No one else is like them...no one. Forty-six tours since since 1963 and over 2,000 concerts. A great band that truly follows the concept of KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid. Financially they don't need to tour...they just plain-old love to play go on the road.
