KingJaredoftheLand I tear up every time! This entire film is abundant with elegant profundities that escape notice because it is a children's film. And perhaps it is precisely that it is for a child that it is so wise!

Well, I'm 46 and I regularly listen to this song to inspire me. And REMIND me of a valuable lesson that is all too easy to forget. When I was in physical therapy at FLW after having destroyed my knee towards the end of basic training, I was about suicidal. But this song and "Hushabye Mountain" (right?!?!?) got me through the rehab and making it through basic training a second time. If I had just quit I can't even imagine where I would be today....

I may be 23, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang still puts a smile to my face. Not just because of the car, but also a great sense of imagination (making up own places i.e. Vulgaria), the representations, how brilliantly choreographed the songs are. A lot of idiots assume that CCBB is a disney film. Technical it ain't, it's an MGM film. Probably the reason for the assumptions is Dick Van Dyke is in it (just cuz he was in Mary Poppins) and that the Sherman Bros wrote the songs. CCBB proves that it's more than just Disney the Shermans are associated with. Still, including for this one, they have written some awesome songs! Well, I like most of their soundtracks, except Winnie The Pooh. Also I can honestly say, I like this soundtrack way better than most of the live-action musicals from 2000-onwards (Sweeney Todd's good though)

Actually its more of a song saying that you shouldn't worry about failing at something, cause you most likely will fail but thru the failure you will learn what not to do next time and eventually you will do it right. Its a song for people who are tinkerers and creators to not give up when they fail or be afraid of trying something that most likely wont work. People nowadays are told so often that failure is unacceptable so much so that they would rather not even try just so that they wont fail.
@wolfgangamadeusmozart8772
@wolfgangamadeusmozart8772 7 жыл бұрын
That much is obvious, I'm translating what I see as the undertone, they could just as easy quietly get on with it but they sing about it and make it worth something even though they are slaves.

When this song was composed, the author would have been a Godly person. The song is devised from a pure heart. No BAFTA awards. The actors and lyrics speak for themselves. All good things come from God.
@MalcolmMorris
@MalcolmMorris 4 жыл бұрын
What's god got to do with it? The Sherman Brothers who wrote this (and many other favourite kids movie tunes) were in fact Jewish which probably doesn't sit too well with Bartolomeo... And "from a pure heart"? LOL . Quoting from an obituary: Even while they collaborated from homes in the US and UK when they got together "the two men got on so badly that, even as they composed jolly music for Disney, they would quarrel and throw typewriters at one another. Indeed, their relationship deteriorated to the point where their families would sit on opposite sides of the theatre during premieres". What's it they say? The Devil gets all the best tunes..... ;)
@Randolph1233
@Randolph1233 4 жыл бұрын
Malcolm Morris , the Sherman brothers whether they were Jewish or not - their songs were wholesome. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit. Nor can a good tree produce bad fruit. Throwing typewriters at one another? I’m surprised any of them are still alive after that. Typewriters in those days were very heavy. Great minds are often in conflict with each other. The opposite scenario would be worse. Example : The gay rights people have taken over the film industry. Disney Corporation has been corrupted. Homosexuality portrayed in cartoon characters . Btw if you read biographical accounts of Walt Disney you will find that he was becoming more and more concerned by the increasing Jewish influence. He seemed to be nervous about their domination of the Disney Corporation.
