I'm an Interceptor owner, and not a cruiser fan, but I was wildly impressed by the Super Meteor when I saw the first one my local dealer got. It looks and feels so much more substantial than either of the other 650s. RE's build quality is very rapidly catching up to the powerhouse brands of the world. Gorgeous bike.

Have had the Super Meteor for 8 months now. It isn't perfect, but I don't regret it at all. I had some memorable moments with it, especially with the community I got involved with. I did add bits of accessories to make it more personal and comfortable, and it's becoming even better.
@ChancellorBeeHaw
@ChancellorBeeHaw 5 ай бұрын
what issues did you come across?
@TurbonicSpyder
@TurbonicSpyder 5 ай бұрын
@rhysincoll3176 there was a recall where the spark plug cap/cover was leaking when washed with a pressure washer. They replaced that free of cost. While I didn't personally face this problem, several owners have had to replace the chain/sprocket and/or brake pads very early (although that may be due to their riding style). The suspension is stiff, not really comfortable for passengers ( better seats or air cushions along with a backrest helps a lot). Please keep an eye on all the screws, nuts, and bolts. Some owners narrowly avoided disaster because they noticed the screws coming loose, especially at the rear sprocket. Do note that this is for Indian version. International models may or may not have the same issue.
@ChancellorBeeHaw

@@TurbonicSpyder blimey thats quite a few issues. ill say, i guess its their first year of this bike, so theres bound to be a few things they need to iron out. i remember when they first released the modern classic 350, a few of the speedometers had some issues in the 2021 model, and had a lot of people upset. Was a relatively easy fix, but i guess that happens, some things will always slip by and are only ever found until a larger amount of people start riding the bike.
@TurbonicSpyder
@TurbonicSpyder 5 ай бұрын
@rhysincoll3176 Yeah, mine is one of the early batches, especially considering the color option I chose (Astral Green). But from what I've seen, things are improving. Unfortunately, there are some things we have yet to receive, those being some of the accessories they've shown off, although that's more of a regional issue, laws don't really allow those items to be sold, at least as a first party option( handlebars, fog lights ( a necessity for some, as the headlights are inadequate), luggage options, some mysterious styling accessories as well).
@ChancellorBeeHaw
@ChancellorBeeHaw 5 ай бұрын
@@TurbonicSpyder oh thats a shame about the accessories. ive found that theres good access for parts where i am, or you order them online through sites that set RE accessories. Im from australia, so not exactly close to anything, and there are stores that stock a fair few parts. however when theyre out of stock, takes a week before theyre even in the country.

Had my Super Meteor since June and absolutely no regtets. It feels and sounds like a British twin with a lovely spread of torque. Have fitted several bits and bobs, including the rear finisher instead of the pillion pad (sorry Monika). IMO the bobber look suits it. You know it makes sense Freddie.

I initially bought the RE 350 Classic, but although I love the looks, the lack of power spoiled it. It's now a garage queen. Bought the RE Super Meteor having already loved the looks. It has plenty of power for English roads and a great sound, and at the price, what's not to love. Makes me smile whether I'm riding it or just looking at it.

A beautiful bike, saw it last year at EICMA. It really looks good with a rider your height, not sure how it might be for 6"5' and above. Value proposition is outstanding and it is ine of the new REs that are really gaining traction in Europe. I hope the new Himalayan will fit me and my height as I'm really ready to downsize BHP-wise and to enjoy the slower but more emotional side of life.

Style-wise, that SuperMeteor is undeniably well thought out and brilliantly executed. Put a windscreen on it and a pillion backrest so that from 50 metres, it's indistinguishable from the Triumph beside it. On video the fit and finish appears exemplary, so if the ride is up to the lofty standards set by the styling and build, then Royal Enfield is about to have another runaway hit, incredibly successful model. It seems they are the new hotness, stepping out ahead of the old and shaggy...

I started with the 350 (Fireball yellow) and bought the 650 Interstellar red about 4 months ago and have never looked back... absolutely love it. That extra oomph and weight makes it a dream to ride as it feels so planted compared to the 350... Merry Christmas to yourself and Monika.

My Classic 350 was in for a service today so I took a super meteor out for a few hours. I've never ridden a cruiser before. I liked the side sweeping bars and the extra power. I soon got used to the forward footrest and found it to be comfortable initially. I could feel each year change, it was crisp and positive. On the twisties, it was enjoyable and could be easily and comfortably flicked through the bends. Downsides. It has a very wide turning circle. After three hours and despite regular breaks, the front of my hips and thighs were starting to hurt and I was shuffling in my seat to get comfortable. I enjoyed the additional power, reaching 60, 70 and beyond wasn't a problem, but on dual carriageway and motorways the wind blast was a pain, if I owned this bike i'd have a screen fitted.

I owned a Thunderbird 1600, put 60K miles on it with just routine maintenance. It’s a great bike and here in the states it rolls down our highways without any trouble. I traded it in on a new Speedmaster as most of my riding shorter distances. If I had the garage space and more money I would have kept it as well.

Quick recommend as you are changing between bikes often - you should take a look at the carabiner style helmet locks since you can move them between bikes seamlessly and they’re so small you can just keep on the bars or in your jacket when not riding. Would make locking up your helmets very easy and less hassle than bringing them with you on errands/lunches/etc. Makes it so much easier when my girlfriend comes along for rides and I need the extra lock so we can leave them behind. (Maybe not in central London tho 😬) Cheers. Happy holidays.

My opinion on the looks: the only foult i can find on it is the paintjob emphasizing an opside-down V line that starts at the senter of the front wheel goes up to the tank thand then comes down to the center of the back wheel. i would paint it to emphasize more horizontal lines. I do also think this bikes fit Freddie like an worn in glove.

Great work as always Freddie and Monika. I am so glad that you have got your hands on a Super Meteor at last. Very interested to hear your thoughts on it. I had a 2005 honda shadow 750 and when i sat on the Super Meteor at the NEC I was surprised at how the size and dimensions felt very similar. However the RE offers better performance and economy than the honda. Could it be a better option than a twenty (or so..) year old Japanese cruiser as a good one is still strong money to buy. Wishing you both a very happy Christmas.

Lovely to see you in your home, your comfort zone that is Great Britain. Your videos are so fantastically shot and I love how you capture the landscape, mixed with totally charming music. By the way, I can't say I am a biker but I think I am on the path of becoming one. I got a new motorcycle recently (which is a toy, a TVS XL-100 BS6 Heavy Duty) compared to your magnificent new bike) but still I love it. Your videos are deeply inspiring because they look elegant in every sense and you both have great aesthetic values in how you present your videos. What an awesome bike! I bought an Indian Scout 1200 new in 2017 to try to slow myself down a bit. With 100bhp and a huge spread of torque it hasn't worked; I chase down sportsbikes & Adv bikes and scrape the pegs everywhere - NOT what a cruiser is built for. The SM650 is a far better cruiser option and at nearly half the price of a new Scout represents amazing value for money. Looking forward to watching more of your exploits together. Merry Christmas! 🎄

It's so nice to be back in Ipswich. Your videos from here, and the surroundig areas, have always been far more interesting to watch, and the area seems to fit better to the people you both are..., when are you both moving back again? Looking at this Meteor and hearing your initial thoughts on it, has certainly made me think of at least looking for a test run on one. Probably, like all REs, it needs to be run-in, to be the bike it was always intended to be. So for a test ride, look for one with at least it's 1st service completed, before buying any RE. The Thunderbird was a fantastic looker, but not made for long enough, to sell in big numbers..., unfortunately! Because of that, anybody looking for a used one of these, is gonna have to part with a large chunk of his savings, especially if he's after a low mileage exemplar. So I don't know where you got your numbers from. Surely the difference between Ipswich and Bern can't be 3000 to 5000 pounds difference on the used market? anyway, that counts me out!

i was just watching your video where you picked up the classic 350 for the second time, and mentioned reviewing this bike! great review, a bike in its own league. few things im personally not a fan of; material choice on some parts make it seem a little less high quality than it actually is, and the exhaust, think a different style might have better matched the bike. id say that the classic 350 makes more sense to be made into a 650 version than the meteor, i think as a cruiser of that weight, a even larger engine might be a bit better suited.

The RE does look great and suits you well. Not nearly enough power for me though. I had a Triumph Thunderbird, the Storm variant (1700), outstanding bit of kit. The one you have there is a Commander I think, also 1700. Very reliable, a friend of mine has well over 150,000 miles on his. I did 50,000 miles on mine, So of the two, I would go for the T'bird Storm, they hold their value well too. As for the Super Meteor, it is an outstanding effort by RE and their best bike in my opinion. Time will tell on their reliability.

The 650 is low on power but I enjoy having a few bikes with all different output. If it's your only bike i can see wanting more power. The engine is also easy to work on and install new cams or the big bore kit.

Hi Freddy, I'm French, I love your videos! I am a former owner of the Meteor 350 and I was hesitating between the Interceptor and the Super Meteor My budget has decided for me and it will be a second-hand interceptor because at the moment the super meteor is too expensive for me 😁 Can't wait for you to test the new Himalayan which looks fabulous By ✌🏻

It's a very good looking cruiser type bike. But I would think 46BHP is a little low for good cruising. My old z650 had 64bhp and that's nice for keeping on about 150-60kmph.

Perfect for those smaller journeys with slower speeds. But i would take the Triumph Speedmaster though. Living in Canada all rides are on big high speed Highways, and that small engine would be a little lacking for long 6-10 hour rides...

Did you really just call a 650 a small engine? I think you've bought into the "bigger is better" marketing a bit too much.

Lovely looking bike. However, such a heavy bike with such low power. Good for a Sunday bimble for an hour. Couldn't quite see from your video if this cruiser gives you a curved spine when riding or if too much weight is transferred to the coccyx, both of which wouldn't be comfortable for any length of time. Good to know of any aches and pains from your ride. 👍
