I think those trailers using footage from previous productions are misleading the public who may think they’re going to hear the singers they see in the trailer. Unfair isn’t it?

I don’t think anyone expects those singers. In a couple of cases, definitely not!! Hard to see how else they can publicize a production revival still in rehearsal but they could at least have put pictures of the cast and roles.

This trailer is from when this particular production was first performed. I would say around 15 years ago. It has been re- staged in the same style several times since then. I don’t think Rolando Villazon will be singing the title role this time the tenor singing Don Carlo this time is Brian Jagde.

Yes, it was. I don’t know if he will be in that production. I wonder because I’m not sure he can sing that role presently. But I may be wrong.

@@catherinecozzano2580 he isn't, Brian Jagde is singing. these trailers always use footage from previous times the production has been run.

thanks for the confirmation. He had taken seven years off, but started singing again in 2012. I think he learned that he has to sing a lot less so he doesn’t sing as much as he used to. Also, he’s been directing. And good point that he just because he’s in the trailer he may not be in the actual production. And who knows if he is willing/able to seeing the role?

@@williammountfield8508 That’s what I thought. Thank you for the information. I don’t think he can face that role now. He’s doing a recital in June in Paris.
