Preciate the people commenting with helpful suggestions and information :) Never said I was professional mechanic. I do as much as I can and learn as much as I go along. Can't expect to know absolutely everything about something you've never done before. It's like learning another language with no lessons or native speaker to help. Just dropping yourself in another country and trying to figure it out. So yeah, the hate from some falls on deaf ears. Shout out to the true supporters :)

Hey man dont want from this bike to charge your baterry above 13 Volts. The max output of the stator is arond 90 to 120 Watts at 4000RPM. Its not like a bike like a CBR 600 or a R6. Its a completly different story. Your load is about the max The lights are eating around 90 Watts the ignition about 10 to 15. You around the edge of this charging capability. Sorry for my english i am Hungarian :D

The yellow wires are definitely interchangable. They should be two of the stator output wires, the white one being the 3rd. You can check if this is true by measuring if the wires are connected to the 3-way plug going to the voltage regulator. Please do measure first just to be sure because I have not actually seen this particular type of stator before. Now you can check the following: - Check if your battery (fully charged) voltage isn't dropping below 10V when starting (otherwise replace battery first before even trying anything else) - Unplug your headlight connectors and check if charging. The stator could be too weak to keep up. I do doubt it because there are practically no other power consumers. But anyway just try it as it's an easy test and will save you a lot of headache if it does turn out to be the issue. - Check your wiring diagram: Are you totally sure everything is connected the right way and are there no broken/squashed wires or connectors? Measure continuity on all wires. - The BLACK wire on your voltage regulator !!!MUST!!! receive 12V when your ignition is on. Disconnect the regulator and measure if there's 12V coming from the scooter when the ignition is turned on. This is very essential, if there is no current going to the regulator it will not do anything at all. - Check if the stator and fly wheel belong together. Stator should fit snug inside the fly wheel with a tiny bit of space left over (maybe 0,5 - 1mm). If this all came stock then I would assume they are made to be used together. Right now I can't think of anything else that could be the issue so hopefully this should fix it. Good luck!

Very good info. I would also start by shooting the a/c voltage coming out of each stator wire while the bike is running and verify that it is within the tolerances in the repair manual. Shooting resistance doesn't always tell you the whole story and this way you know if your main source of power is outputting enough. If its good, move on to the reg/rectifier. I have seen the ground coming off the reg/rectifier bad which will not allow it to do its job. I love your videos and I started out the same way as you stumbling through troubleshooting with no clue(cause electricity can seem like pure f**ing magic before you get a good grasp on it), but through having to deal with a ton of issue I got pretty proficient at it all and you will too. You can't learn anything without making mistakes first and those mistakes remind you to never repeat that mistake again.
@ChinzoPhoto
@ChinzoPhoto 7 жыл бұрын
yes yellow wires are all interchangeable but there should be 3 yellow wires coming from the stator to match that of the rectifier. the white wire technically should be going to autochoke but that can be left undone since he doesnt have autochoke. if there are only 2 yellow wires in the harness, 3 from the rectifier and 1 from the stator, then im confused how this harness was wired.

Said the same thing in the video when he got the multi-meter and only tested the battery voltage and ordered all new parts by the end of the video. We know he is not a professional mechanic but it would be good if there was an attempt to troubleshoot the problem rather than throw parts at it. It only adds value to the video which would in the long run add to more views.

as stupid as it sounds the stator and the regulator are probably not the problem, if you was able to pull the wires out of the connector block then it could be down to a poor connection . the wires in the connector block are loose or not connecting to each other then it wont charge the battery.

So my thoughts on the ruckus is that connector melted together and the reasons that could happen is faulty connection, not big enough gauge wire for the current that is needed or you have a bad ground to the bike Chases or the bike motor (no paint in threads or on surface where Wire contacts frame) and is making it draw to much current thew the connector hope this gives you some things to look at and hope you see my comment

I cut the connector off my stator and run some butt connectors, way more secure that way. three of the wires go to the regulator, two to the CDI an one is ground, works great.

its definitly the light bulbs in your scooter, whenever you turn the key on they come on so bright. you probably have a 35 in when you should have a 25, take the light bulbs out and try turning it on and see if it recharges itself. if it does just order a 25 bulb for the scooter.

have you tried checking that the pins are not bent. I had a similar problem with my motorbike. Checked everything over like you did. Like the Rectifier And the stater. I had to charge the battery every 3 days. I took it for an MOT and i told the mechanic and he checked the wires. And he noticed that there was one connector from the stater to the main wiring loom and one of the pins didn't have full contact. So he bent it back in place. And bingo was perfect. Checked it with a multimeter and was fine.

Hey @Motonosity, it looks to me like the plug is melted and fused together. That would be the reason you couldn't get it apart. This points to a larger issue though. Too much amperage is going through that connection or you have a bad/intermittent connection (bad crimp or poor contact). I would lean towards too much amperage in this case. The amperage issue could be caused by several things, but my guess would be a grounding issue. You can check for this by hooking your multimeter up to the battery negative and then each wire individually. Set your multimeter to check for continuity (looks kinda like a wifi signal). You should have at least one ground in the plug, typically black, but if any of the other wires "ground out" you will have to trace the wire and find out where it makes contact with the frame or a ground. Beyond that try unplugging the headlights to see if that is causing your major amperage draw.

It has to be the stator in my opinion. Whatever accessories you have that draw off the battery are most likely over what the max output is. Your manual should have how many watts the stock stator produces. Then read up on the draw of the accessories you have added. If the wattage is maxed out, as the bike is running, it will just power the accessories as they are being used, and not charge the battery. Another possible issue is that maybe there is something on a wire that is always hot "conducting electricity" that is always draining your battery.

Working on cars I've seen out-of-box defective: water pumps, alternators, thermostats, power steering pumps, brake/clutch master cylinders, brake calipers, wheel cylinders, clutch slave cylinders, parking cables, clutch pressure plates, piston rings, *pistons*, main/rod bearings, wheel bearings, vacuum modulators, fuel pumps, oil filters, CV joints, brake rotors . . .. Basically, *anything* can be defective. It's not terribly common, but it does happen. And that's why you buy parts with warranties.

are you saying starter? or stater and if you are saying stater, what is it?

Fazzix He is saying "stator", a stator is part of the alternator, which charges the battery in vehicles.

You're using an 11-pole stator, you should have 3 yellow wires running to the regulator/rectifier since all gy6 11-pole stators are 3 phase.

Electricity is like water through a hose and the regulator is the valve that controls the how much gets through and prevents it, the flow, from going in reverse. The stator is basically a pump to make the flow move. If the two yellow wires are connected you get two flows fighting each other. Looking at the regulator there are 4 connections, wires. Two for the battery and two for the yellow stator wires. It don't matter which yellow is which. Make sure the stator wires are not pinched open or pinched to ground. There should be no other wires connected to the stator wires. All battery and circuit wires connect after the regulator. Good luck.

It's a rectifier /regulator not just a regulator. It turns the THREE main wires from the stator wich is AC and it goes to the rectifier and turns the AC to DC then the regulator regulates how much it puts out and the rest is converted to heat. There are not just four wires...

the rectifier might not be on fast charge.. also since your lights are always on.. like mine. but both my yellow wires on mine had to join.. spliced together.. then it'll be on fast.. coz on bigger bikes that's what gives power to other stuff which you don't have.. that's what we had to join for it to fast charge

He is talking about the stator (AC), not the rectifier... the rectifier turns ac into dc, so I don't know what you mean by "fast charge." You're probably talking about the output of the regulator side of the rectifier /regulator to just increase the amperage.

2 yellow wires probably means its a half wave charging system and you should be able to connect them either way.

I'm now wondering if that connector was your problem this whole time. Those connectors shouldn't be that difficult to get apart. If you can get or find a wiring schematic or diagram for the ruckus you should be able to find out what wire goes to what. Anyways good luck with it.

the yellow wires are AC, it does not matter which goes where. The regulator is also a rectifier which converts AC to DC

looks like that connector is melted together. you might have a bad ground. check all your grounds and hardwire those wires. Google the schematics and trace the wires to see where they all go. hope you get it fixed. that's a bad ass ruckus!

you need to watch the video...when you start the bike after replacing the regulator you can see the head lights get brighter which means it is getting charge power...some how it's not getting to the battery

In my opinion, I think that the starter motor is either damaged or not powerful enough for the bike, I would suggest changing the starter motor as well as finding out why the battery isn't charging. Hope I can help :D
