I love Johnny so much, he looks so good in this interview. I love how all the people that asked him questions were so nervous and their voices were shaky but he never laughed or made them feel uncomfortable. He was very polite and also tried to joke around to take a little bit of the pressure off them. This only shows that he has a very kind and sweet heart and personality and it is so sad to know that that psychopath took advantage of him and hurt him like that.

When I think about the movie "The Rum Diary", I feel soooo bad because it was where he starred with Amber Heard. That woman totally destroyed his career. I hope he bounces back because he's a talented actor and a good guy. All my love and respect for him. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Watching this in 2022 because I’ve always adored Johnny Depp, and I’m horrified at what Amber Heard has done to him. Johnny is such a genuine human being and his comedy is the best.

An actor of Johnny's status taking time out to do essentially a roundtable discussion about the creative process around filmmaking at a college speaks to his humbleness. As he discusses Rum Diaries and his dear friend Hunter Thompson it really is very sad that his co-star ended up ultimately breaking his heart and destroying his career. When he offered to send a hat to the young woman toward the end...he hugged her, kissed her hand, etc. That was a man of great appreciation for the ability to be generous.

Depp’s amazing reply at 17:10-18:36 (esp. 17:50-18:36) is prescient of his elegant “fighting back” as a survivor (no longer victim, hopefully) of DV, from himself above all (as he has said). I really think it is this kind of artistic thinking and feeling that drives him today. This is an amazing lesson. And it’s put into words in an unbelievably simple way which shows it’s been given so much thought and life. I’m so glad we can finally weave our safety nets, Johnny!

Bruce Robinson may be talented as a director but heck he comes across as an unpleasant individual. Thank goodness for Johnny, who may share some of the same values but is not only coherent, respectful of his audience, the subject matter at hand and the people around him. Johnny Depp is so humble, intelligent and with a sense of who and what he is, every interview I see with him makes me admire and yes love him more. The great shame is that he cast that evil example of a human being in TRD who has gone on to ruin his reputation, career and, for now, life. My great hope is that win or loose the court cases the evidence will speak for itself. Johnny Depp is not a violent man, he has a temper as much as we all do and will slam a kitchen cabinet door or pour a drink to drown his woes. He was the victim, and if you doubt this check the tape recordings and the court evidence. The truth will prevail and this interview shows him in a very good light.

I would never think of Edward Scissorhands as a failure. People wanting to make huge money might have thought that at the time. But they were wrong. It was a great thing. I was so glad to hear later in the interview, how Johnny felt about it. It is one of my very favorite things.

His story is one that braves into the now blocked off territory called-Truth. Hunter S. Thompson may have been the last real True Journalist. When I think of News today, I also think - Corporate Monopoly Media today, these answers really are true-that Journalism is now mostly a mass produced product meant for consumption. Peppered in between these nice rambling talks is the essence of Johnny - His Individuality shines 🌟😎 and the relationship between this wise English Director seems genuine-I really believe the spirit of Gonzo is watching down upon Johnny and feeling very proud of him. Such a Dearheart! That Hug 💕🌹💝 sure she will remember that forever :) Wondering whether Mr. Depp is also fan of the late Jim Harrison's works-and have felt for sometime they just have to be friends-when I read Jim Harrison, and his wilderness adventures I feel as if I could imagine Mr. Depp greatly enjoying Jim Harrison's writing as well. This idea of course, is probably make believe for me. I think of Jim Jarmush's movie, "Dead Man", and "Chocolat,'-as well as "Finding Neverland", "Edward Scissorhands,"-and "Blow", as some of Johnny's Absolute Finest obviously, Captain Jack too plus "Donnie Bosco", with Al Pacino where he is an Undercover Agent.
