Cannon should be paired with dagger imo. 1) Approach the crowd and open up with armageddon, instantly gaining 7 heat stacks. 2) Finish isolated stragglers with backstab. 3) Approach another crowd. 4) Jump into the crowd with rocket jumps enhanced with additional damage from heat (it procs at the place of landing!) 5) If there are no good places to jump in, create them by using throwing dagger on the minion inside the crowd and then jump into now vacant space. 6) Again - pick th stragglers off with backstab. 7) Use poison daggers with Vampire perk to regen hp which you lost to abuse heat mechanics. And then there's obvious multi-hit synergy between both weapons.

I think this is an interesting pairing @MrOlmer22 ... I really like the idea of how this might work. We'll have to do more science this week to see where we land on it. So far Wand and Hand Crossbow have both felt really good with the Cannon for a limited mobility hero.

If it doesn't get changed into something more compelling I'll 100% release a mod that does exactly that! Though I'm not sure that changing skills to be range modifiable or not is currently supported in the code... but perhaps we can find a workaround. Cheers!

The warshield doesn't need to scale on a defensive stat, it already scale with the defensive playstyle via taken hits. You stuck them in the corner of the haven where balistas don't reach and the bonus will grow faster than you use it. If there was a thing to change, imho, that would be that the decrease in turn where you're not attacked should be reduced. You can't choose ennemy targeting and it's frustrating to lose a lot of stat because of something out of your control. I usually pair it with a one-handed axe. It give attacks in all shapes and cost, a free hand for a standard shield (more defensive stat), mobility via Moving Wall, and the damage debuff help taking hit from the heavy hitter ennemy. I regularly face-tanked boomer (not elite) with -66% dmg and just get stronger in the process. For build, you go spiky counter, berserk, bless if you can, physical damage and everything else is preference. The gauntlet is just terrible. It is a worst magical opportunist weapon than tome (which isn't an opportunist weapon). It is a melee weapon without built in mobility and no way to reliably kill a basic ennemy in one ability. Geo-reservoir never proc when you need it and isn't that good when you finally manage to get it when you want.

I think you bring up some very good points @sangdragonj . First I'll say that generally I think the shield is in a great place and what I was looking for is less more power and instead more "identity". I'd like to see defensive stats contributing to killing power in more ways. I still think it would be interesting to see some scaling coming from block as not every shield user will also be a spiky counter user. For the bodybuilders among them I'd love for Shields Up to be both a attack and a bit of a power up for the rest of the turn. As for the gauntlet, agreed... it's just in a tough spot.

I might have been too harsh on gauntlet! I tried to build it as an opportunistic weapon, and it was great! Paired with the "You are next" perk, the damage was absurd. Also, "Volatile Reaction" and "Thrifty" help a lot to manage mana and debuff spreading. The hero ended up being my top dps with 2 pair of gauntlets (main/off hand), while I also had multihit person. Though I would recommend pairing it with a druid staff, having two pairs of gauntlets was more of an aesthetic choice)

So I'll be doing more science this week with the Gauntlet, but given that it only benefits from opportunism on the front hit of Snap it seems like and Axe user with the same setup you had would have just out performed the gauntlet by a long shot... but I'll keep an open mind ;)

I think Hunters feel so punishing to you because you’re doing corpse strats the majority of the time. It kind off adds a little bit of risk/reward to the strategy. Due to medals being t4/5 only, does that mean they can only show up on certain nights? Or would building a couple production buildings early be a good way to experiment with them? Solid review 👍

I think you're right that Hunter are more concentrated because of the corpse strats, but also the game is spawning them in at a rate that leads to some pretty gnarly concentrations. I think that the T4/5 medals have a min, gear level associated with them, so you can't get Boom! on night one... but I'm not 100% sure on that yet.

Cool review, funny enough that my first momentum hero after the dlc was a dwarf haha. It seems like you can get inertia on anyone, just that humans have a higher chance to do so. Momentum with dwarf was definitely trickier to do, but I found that the dwarf's perk that gives 2 moves every time you drink something + Overload works pretty nicely

Oh really @user-ln1uo6kq1j ?? I honestly didn't think that you could get Inertia on a dwarf. I guess I've just gotten unlucky on my 4 runs and 24 heroes :-o Thank you for letting me know!

@@aldenpotamus Did they tweaked the game these few days? feel like im seeing *alot* more heros with inertia even compared to before the DLC, 24 heros with no inertia sounds extremely unlucky if no changes were made XD

Apparently it was just bad luck on my part! There was an update (today), but it didn't make any changes to perk frequency at least according to the patch notes.

A lot of the feedback from the DLC beta was wanting some way to motivate people to not set and forget the weapon selection, as we all thought that there would be a high chance that some people would just stop using some of the weapons

Yeah, I already feel that and I've only just begun using the system. I'm going to make it a policy to either make an explicit selection or open it up to use everything.

I've actually been using it for challenge runs, since it allows me to focus on my weapons I usually ignore. I like the change, since you can always keep using everything as aldenpotamus has stated

@@poimaster yeah, it's an incredible system for challenge runs! The thing that me and Alden are worried about is people doing all runs with a couple weapons just always banned

@poimaster agreed - it's a pretty awesome feature, the only thing I'm a little disappointed about is that you still have to keep one weapon of each type... I do occasionally like my all melee runs or rifle only runs :) good news is we can update the omen of many weapons mod for that purpose!

I think the stout is the mana for health? Pilsner is def the strongest with the crit chance for a bit less crit power.

The fact that the + and - are the same magnitude is insane... crit is so much more valuable than crit power.

On Pick Your Weapons, I think itd be a cool idea if there is a difficulty selection where the game randomly bans x weapons at the start of a run. Might provide some more replayability that way and stops players from always using the same weapons over and over again. (Or I suppose the player can impose this restriction on themselves manually by using a random number generator to pick out the weapons to be banned)

Ishtar didn't include you in the closed beta???? Big mistake. You're a resource (Abigail too) that they are losing out on. Hoping they are eventually made aware of you - if they aren't already.

They definitely know me, and I specifically asked to be included... but sadly they weren't interested in including me. I would have liked to have the head start on creating videos, it would have made the launch week a little less hectic. That being said I'm not sure I would have had the time to really put the game through it's paces and there is something fun about my first impressions being on stream on the final version... so pros with cons I guess.

It's a challenging map to be sure... there's a lot of debate right now about the current balance. I'm planning to do a more in depth guide to the map soon, but a few quick things to keep in mind: Starting on Night 6 your goal is always to kill all the corrupted runestones on the map. One they're killed the next turn 1-2 statues will become targetable. Kill them and repeat this process. If you don't miss any stones and kill the statues the turn they spawn it'll be over at the earliest on turn 12. Good luck!!

For me, the word that really defines the gauntlet is "awkward" It doesn't feel satisfying to use. Not only is the t shape weird, the first square and the 3 behind it have different effects. So the enemies have to be lined up in a particular way, then I have to decide who gets the full blast. It's just awkward

Agreed, that is indeed a good word for it. I'm hoping we see some major changes, but it's looking bleak that we'll get the change that I really want :)

The cannon feels god awful, It hits for like 120dmg with its #1. I can't fathom a worse weapon to use for a range loadout. Unfortunately handcrossbow and shortbow are still king.

Hey Craig! I'd encourage you to check out my recent runs... I had some absolutely insane heroes running cannon and deleting entire sides of the map with just Armageddon, and the #1 skill is good for shoot enemies right behind rocks (shockingly useful on Runenberg) 🙂 But everyone is entitled to their opinion!

I stopped playing this game entirely after ballistas were nerfed. The game was dope before then, but then I had no interest to keep playing. The game for me was a tower defence game with extra steps, and with nerfed ballistas that aspect of the game was heavily changed.

@Maconviking I've heard that feedback from a handful of people. I've also done quite a few single hero challenges where only the ballista were doing the work, so I can attest to the fact that they are still VERY powerful. Also of note, the nerf to ballista was partially rolled back shortly after it was nerfed post 1.0. Honestly if you're at all curious, I really do think the game is in a good place and defenses feel very impactful.

The info is very useful, but... too much text on screen, a image or gameplay that show what you are saying, or at least, a gameplay of any run, is a video not a podcast...

Hi @drakoky6894 , thanks for the feedback. Truly it's a good reminder for me, I often make videos that are a little information dense, and putting something a little more exciting on the screen rather than the information I'm sharing could be a really good way to make a more engaging video. Not to make excuses, but at the moment I'm a one man show, and trying to get factually accurate information out as quickly as possible does come with some compromises, but I agree I could do better. Only a few things... there's light side unlocks for the map, and 200 / 1000 AP with each of the weapons. On the dark side there's the weapon unlocks and the Omen of Many omens. They also changed those omens to now guarantee at least uncommon for the omen in question. Hope this helps!
