When even one person is above the law it is not democracy and certainly not our constitutional democracy. America is actually an oligarchy and has been for decades. The past 40 years has been the systematic dismantling of our government. They gave the 1% huge tax breaks in Reagan's presidency (and we never went back to pre-Reagan fair tax laws). Then during Clinton's administration allowed the consolidation of all the thousands of independent publishers and broadcasters by 6 mega corporations to control the dialogue and make sure the public didn't find out what was actually going on. Second the started eliminating or underfunding the oversight agencies that used to hold big business to certain standards. Once the oversight agencies were nullified or neutered financial crimes went unreported and unpunished leading to the 2008 housing market crash. Little by little the top 1% managed to takeover our government with supreme court granting corporations the same rights as a U.S. flesh and blood citizen led the way to buying every politician legally!! Citizens United was officially the end of our democracy. may add. When a super wealthy class of people run everything and are above the law, this is the definition of oligarchy.
