Once a seaside retreat for 19 Century yuppies escaping “Smell-bourne”, later a suburb completely defined by the heroin addicts who flocked there, St. Kilda has endured a constant cycle of boom and bust - even carrying the label “Rock Capital of The World” for a few heady years in the 1980s. Today it is again one of Melbourne’s most desired addresses.

I loved St.Kilda ..I used to be the captain of the St'Kilda ice racing club at St Moritz in the late 1960s , and the esplanade was buzzing on the weekend with art shows and stalls ..I wonder if they still have them ?

I love that he is calling out the tattoo artist. He's got a point though, don't go there for any script tattoos, who knows what you'll come out with.

One of the chefs at my job has a tat that's supposed to say "Heard & there"... It says "Heard & They're". Only kitchen workers would get the funny in this without a long explanation. For non cooks: "Heard" is short for "I heard and understand, working on it" and "There" just means "it's in the general direction I gestured towards in some way, waiting for you."... "They're" is a response to "why are we so backed up" referring to someone in the kitchen or a server who keeps sending in single items from one table rather than telling the guests to order all at once for the table. The kind of person who sends in an appetizer, an appetizer and a main, 3 mains and an app, and 2 more apps, all over the course of 10 minutes.

One of my coworkers got a tattoo that supposedly meant "GREAT WARRIOR" in Chinese. He showed it to another coworker who was born and raised in Beijing and graduated university in Shanghai. She said it read " DRAINAGE CANAL"...

I was pretty young around that time, but the only one I recognized was INXS (I'm American, though). I wonder if I'd know any music of the others if I heard it?

You both need to educate yourselves more about the Australian Rock Music Scene from the 70s and the 80s.

The series was shown on Australian TV, so the TV station that showed it likely has the broadcast rights, even online.

14:52 - *Kougelhopf or Gugelhupf. It's a southern-German, Austrian and Swiss name of this exact type of a cake and it means more or less "round bowl". In Polish it would be called baba or babka (the former one being an old fashioned and informal word for a middle-aged woman, the latter meaning "grandmother". It's traditionally baked for Easter in the continental Europe, i.e. in Germany and in Poland. Considering the name of Mr. Lewin, I suspect those Polish immigrants were of Jewish heritage, so the "Kugelhopf" (apparently derived from "Kougelhopf") might be also a Yiddish word.

nine minutes in and this is not what I came here for...I thought I was gonna learn actual history about the highwaymen...This is just a touristy fluff piece(?) ah well. I will not depart but disappointing when you wanted something else...Uodate ...ok worth waiting for the Kugelhopf info. Never heard if that before-had to stop and look it up. And I liked the giant mustachioed mouth entranceway. Sank Ilda. noice.
