During the Second World War, the largest concentration camp complex used by the SS was Auschwitz. It grew to become a huge site where over 1 million prisoners were housed throughout the conflict. But there was one element of Auschwitz which was incredibly feared and notorious for punishment, torture and execution. Block 11 was the brutal home of the Gestapo where prisoners were held in small cells, and then tortured for information. But Block 11 had a number of brutal torture devices used by the SS.
One of the most tragic parts of Block 11 was the Standing Cells in which a number of prisoners were forced into an oubliette style cell or prison. Many were locked in these cells for periods of over 10 days, and this was incredibly tough with prisoners being given little food. The Boger Swing was also used in Block 11, as was the manacles and other devices where guards would beat prisoners using them. Block 11 was just one of the most feared elements of Auschwitz, a camp where hundreds of thousands of prisoners died inside.

A few years ago an elderly women 90's gave her testimony live on a local radio station on this brutality and how she survived. Towards the end of the interview the interviewer asked her for any final thoughts/words. She said she is very concerned about the state of this society/guvment and that it reminded her of how all this started back in the 1930's she said it is similar and she is worried for future generations 🤔💯

Not to mention North Korea is on another level of isolating their people and also mind conditioning them to whatever their evil dictator is planning to do. The stories that she would tell me were so awful that I used to have nightmares about it. My father died from experiments done on him and my mother lived to be 71 and died in her sleep...now I don't have any family because they were gassed in the concentration camps. @ RedCnMn Even if being Jewish wasn’t their direct religion, the Nazi still labeled them “Jews” by association. For instance, if they have one parent or even grandparent, they were labeled as “Jewish” and received the same harsh treatment as the others.

I felt as a young child I felt sick as she handed it to me. I still cannot get a tattoo because of this. I remember crying and not knowing why. it is amazing what a single moment can mean. Many years ago, I was on Long Island at a store called Bonwit Teller. A woman in the beautiful cosmetics department was demonstrating false eyelashes. She had on 3/4 sleeves and I could see the tattoo number on the inside of her forearm. I was only a teenager but I froze in the knowing of what it was. My parents had books in our home about the Holocaust and I read them. I can still see it in my mind's eye as if it was yesterday. The contrast of the beautiful elegant store as background to the ugliest event imaginable was not lost on me.

What’s happened is these camps is beyond horrendous and cruel beyond imagination. We look at these crimes as something that happened in the past ( which it did) but the mindset of those Nazi guards is still within some people that are alive today . They hide themselves in other types of work and organisations. Many hide in government , the law or armed forces. They are standing next to you on the train or the bus , they may not do the type of deeds that happening in the camps but they do inflict suffering on all they come into contact with . We have them in the centre of power today, hiding in plain sight. Evil is never extinguished it just changes it’s form.

He saw this and said he used to be proficient at jumping at low level ,500 ft, to ensure surprise and avoid AA fire. If we could have been there ,he said, we’d volunteer to a man to go in like that and fight for these people. He said two things. American Jews tried to convince President Roosevelt to spare only one Bomber out of hundreds to bomb Auschwitz. He refused. Auschwitz survivors told later that they saw many Bombers which passed over them to bomb German targets but no one of them was ordered to bomb Auschwitz. At that time the Americans knew what was the purpose of that Camp. Thy even had pictures of it taken by US aircrafts. In one of the pictures they saw a train and a line of people waiting to enter a Gas Chamber with its high Chimney. This was also the President who refused the St. Louise ship to arrive the USA and it had to turn back to Europe. All the Jews of it were perished in the Holocaust.

That was horrific and the conditions were disgusting and you couldn't survive that place not even for one week. Its sad that so many people died there. People had problems during the aftermath of WW 2

Whilst It is understood the absolute need to keep this evil part of history in our minds, I personally couldn't continue watching. It is deeply heart breaking.

Same here. I almost stopped the video. Probably should have. Stuff like this haunts my mind.

ironically perhaps, the "death wall," may have been the most humane thing in the camp. death by firing squad would be preferable to any other way to die there, including the gas chambers, which could take up to 20 minutes.

Another great post Mark. 👍 Can anyone watching tell me what the design on the metal grill on the cell door clearly seen at 10:00 minutes means please ? I’ve tried researching but no luck. Thanks👍

I have no idea other than it looks very Art Deco, which seems bizarre in this place of horrors. If you get an answer as I am intrigued please post, I will do the same if I find it, or its style.

My grandfather's older brother was a medic that was in a unit that liberated buchenwald. He was a medic and told my grandfather about American soldiers giving these poor people food, not knowing too much food in their condition could kill them. He had to go around telling them not to feed them. Messed him up mentally after the war. He committed suicide in 1949.

I am a pure Native Filipino watching here from Philippines. After seeing this documentary i am so physically feel sick about what the Germans soldier did to Jewish people during WW2. I just couldn't believe that it's really happened. I can't even also stop my tears from falling it really breaks my heart, i felt very sad. I thought Filipino history is the most worst thing i've ever heard from my ancestors but damn i just can't imagine that there is much more than horrifying events that happened than my country's history during WW2. 😭😭😭😭😭

So sad. My Tia worked at Blue Cross in the 70's. She said it was a woman on their job who was in the camps. Everytime the lights with off at work the poor woman would start screaming & trying to hide under the desk. The woman even had the tattoo on her wrist.

Meanwhile, the USA, Britain, allies, etc. did nothing. Were aware and could of blast the railways, but cowardness and ineptitude reigns as usual. It's not my problem.
