Kings were a top rebounding and offensive rebounding team lol. Not that I don’t agree, I was always shocked to hear that offensive rebound stat cause I felt like as Kings ALWAYS have, we give up way too many 2-4 chance opportunities. Need long athletic stretch 4 to replace HB

I like brown as our coach however if you feel skeptical here’s a better perspective then. We just paid for consistency, which we haven’t had for years. We need it to try and keep Monk and attack other good players. No one wants to come to a team with a coaching carousel.

🎉 good take. I say the same thing. He's building a long term culture... It is win now but he's not losing sight of the future... 3-4 years down the road and beyond. Monte needs to get more talent! We really don't have a variety of talent due to past draft failures

Really like the length of the contract, and it's good it starts for the 24-25 season, replacing the last year of his old deal. Last thing I wanted was to go him a 4 year deal that starts after next year. I think if the team isn't making the required improvements by 26-27, then maybe time to move on?

Mike got his big contract cool, expectations are now higher in my opinion. We can’t be losing to teams like Washington and Detroit anymore at the rate we did last year. Time to make a deep playoff run and show that Mikes contract should be on par with all those other coaches that have a championship.

I think teams like the pistons, hornets, or wizards would love a coach like Mike Brown if the kings let him go. Teams that need a grown up to set them straight. Kings need to give him at least one more year and he wasn't going to do that without a pay raise. And it's only 3 more years not a 3 year extension. Great for both sides.

Contract extension: I've been on both sides of the aisle and the truth is, whoever has the negotiating power will get/force the best deal. As somebody asking for crazy/impossible figures, I was surprised it was given after a day of thinking by the other side. As the other side, I had no choice but to cave in to the demands of one I really cannot afford to lose on my staff. For Mike Brown, he really did not have enough negotiating power because chances are the other side expected more in yr 2. If I were Mike Brown, I would rather ask for an extension at the midway point of next season when the Sacramento Kings are above .500. At that time, I would ask for $20M per year for 5 years guaranteed, no championship title attachment other than "I'm the best coach for the job." Draft: As always, take the best available talent, whether you keep it or trade it, it's the best available talent at your disposal. Besides, there's no impact wing with the same timeline as your Sacramento Kings' core. Sacramento Kings roster: Same suggestions as before and, the postseason has so far validated those suggestions. Those DHOs with Sabonis are not going to carry the Sacramento Kings deep into the playoffs, if they ever get into the playoffs. You need at least two 30+ points scorers (guard/wing) who can handle ball for a deep run - Celts Tatum and Brown, Mavs Irving and Doncic. Sacramento Kings? Fox and who? My preference for the "who" has always been Keegan Murray. Will he get to a 30+ point scorer in yr 3? Or, is his yr 2 is it. So, an insurance wing via trade is necessary. Bench? The last 2 teams standing don't have a potent bench. Defense? The trade additions of the Mavs and Celts are making incredible contributions, so far defense still counts in the postseason.

So all the screeching this past week of the Kings owner doesn’t want to spend money, management is not doing a good job, and the Kings haven’t learned the lessons of the 16 year drought, were all for naught. People around KingsLand need to Have some faith in the current team and management, rather than becoming apoplectic every time something doesn’t immediately get resolved.

Mike Brown was fired from Cleveland in his 6th year coaching the Cavs (2nd stint) for the same reasons he's criticized today - bad with adjustments, getting outcoached, offense floundering, players not on the same page. Malik Monk himself said Brown did not elevate his game MB has only won titles as an assistant coach and he believed this roster could contend for the championship this (lottery) season, due to his own poor basketball judgment. All evidence shows he wanted to run it back, which this iteration of the Kings might not be able to recover from

Okay now they ran it back and saw we were pretty much the same team if not worse ! Now it’s the GM and owners job to go get some talent and build a solid team upgrade from this mid tier team already , Barnes , huerter , Mitchell and picks should be expandable

Only person who lost their cool was Matt. The team should have made him earn the contract this season. Sure he helped end the playoff drought but he also got bounced from the 1st round with a clearly better team and failed to make the playoffs this year. His track record as head coach is not so stellar. The bar is set so low around here that everyone is praising him.

Iffy on it TBH. I think we hit out ceiling with him. He makes a lot of strange calls in tight moments. Bad subs, bad challenges, bad timing mgmt.

I agree, but sadly... Coaches who left here never got on with another team. The only one was Malone and most of the Kings fans were in shock when he got fired.

@@matthewyip8695 there are a few things to factor in there. One, most coaches after being fired don't immediately land another head coaching gig. Two, outside of Malone, Joerger was the only other coach who should've been in another job at some point. Luke was overrated and Alvin stayed with the team. Mike's pedigree and success tops every coach outside of Adleman and Karl and Karl definitely should've been retired.

Might be an unpopular opinion but wrong move. Mike Brown hasn’t shown he deserves to be among the highest paid coaches in the league. Especially coming off a disappointing season of missing the playoffs once again. He is a stubborn veteran coach who lacks flexibility and the ability to make adjustments. Once the high of ending the playoff drought last season goes away, it’s going to show that he is more of a Mark Jackson than a Steve Kerr. The bar is set so low in Sacramento that he is perceived as a great coach. Although the team made the playoffs last season they got bounced in the 1st rd with a clearly better team.

I remember when Harrison Barnes was signed to his previous contract and fans seemed generally happy that he was the potential "star" of this team. There's some logical explanations for the bottom feeding mentality, but people start exaggerating what this team has. Mike Brown is a mediocre head coach who has only won titles as an assistant and failed to win a title coaching Lebron in Cleveland for 5 years with one of the highest team salaries. This Kings roster was going to make the playoffs last season regardless of who the coach was because Fox Sabonis and Monk were all entering their prime, and Mike Brown somehow managed to miss the playoffs this 2nd season running it back like he seems to have wanted - after all, he said he thought they can contend for the title this (lottery) season - he must have been happy with the roster

@@SKOOBZTERZ You and I have had this discussion... it seems to me that Mike Brown wanted to run it back this year given he said he believed they can CONTEND FOR THE TITLE this year, remember? And I probably also said Monte McNair did try to upgrade starting forward because talks between HB and Monte went silent for a couple weeks in the offseason, so we know Monte did NOT want to run it back. Does that ring a bell? Mike Brown probably begged Monte to run it back, and the GM is not going to go against the coach's wishes You don't talk about CONTENDING FOR THE TITLE THIS SEASON like Mike Brown did, if you don't like the roster. Mike Brown liked this roster.

@@SKOOBZTERZ well yeah but can they now that multiple 1st round picks are tied up after missing the playoffs? Can they move HB's 18 mil a year contract? Who would want to take that on? Is Monk less likely to re-sign because they missed the playoffs? I think so. I don't know if they can jump out of this hole that they dug. This organization in particular never has much room for error, and running it back was a big one
