I heard the story of gamblers down in Florida putting $50 G's on their Sharpshooter Ray Floyd and da gambler boys out west putting $50 G's on the super mex Trevino in a 18 hole winner take all match, and the winners were going to share the money, that was in early 70's, never found out if it really happened or who won.

Billy Casper was banned from the Skins Game because he kept asking his partners to split their winning Skin with him if he would miss his putt to tie them. He was serious.

There was also never a better shot maker than Lee Trevino. Amazingly he was all self taught. To this day he knows more about golf and the golf swing than every one of those over rated golf instructors..

Some just look at the negative .. try the positive .. I'm an American of Itsluan decent & we were also demonized, some were Blacks, Jews and plenty of others .. we can live together easily if we just realize who tries to prevent that and ignore them instead of giving them publicity!

Great memory! I remember being a little kid at the tournament and knocking over a barrel of empty cans when Fuzzy Zoeller was about to hit his tee shot. Another time, Mike Reid came over to me and said hi and gave me a ball. Pleasant Valley always was a great time. It’s a real shame we don’t have an annual tournament in Massachusetts these days.

I love the quote he once said that Gary Player taught to him practice bunker shots standing on one leg😂

I think it's called click bait to lure you in to watch the video. Video was informative but a poor title.

It as great as Jack 18 majors to 6 for Trevino! Granted, He was first, Jack second in 2 US Opens, 1968 & 1971. Also first, Jack second in 1972 British Open at Muirfied. Trevino was first to Jack’s second at The PGA at Tanglewood in 1974. If not for Trevino Jack would have had 22 majors instead of 18.

That’s true with many big-time celebrities. I’ve been to 100 tour events, you’d be surprised who’s not so nice when the cameras aren’t on. Most of them!

I witnessed him refuse autographs and curse out a volunteer when his courtesy car was late to take him back to his hotel. Made him get a bus to take him back. But he won the senior event which is all he wanted. That check. I don’t think he ever made many close friends on either tour. He hid his insecurities by acting like a comedian in front of the camera. When that red light went off…so did he.

Lee tells it that he had a tiff with Cliff Roberts: “Me and Cliff Roberts didn’t get along,” Trevino said on this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar. “He and I didn’t see eye to eye on the ticket situation.” Trevino, who admits he is “short-fused,” told Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz that his talks with the famed Augusta National co-founder were not without conflict. “I went to his office and we had a lot of discussions back and forth,” Trevino said. “I just told him what they could do with it, and I left. I never went back for three years. And then Jack [Nicklaus] talked me into going back.” After his spat with the green jackets, Trevino twice led after 36 holes and tied for 10th on two occasions during his career (1975 and 1985), but his reputation at the famous club never quite recovered. “It was my fault,” Trevino said. “It was my fault; I never should’ve lost my cool. I don’t do it as much now. My wife, Claudia, has tamed me down a bit, but my problem was I was never a listener. When you’re talking as much as I do, you’re always talking; you never listen to what people are saying to you. I have a bad habit of that.”
