I also think by the way the game was structured it was virtually impossible for the full $2000 to be given. Only one person wins anything and they would have to have all 20 bars or whatever to get the amount promised in the title. In the end destiny had 10 bars, each $100, so she only gets $1000, not $2000. Yes I think jubilee did this intentionally so they could say they were giving a larger amount while knowing it would never actually be the full 2k

I imagine their profit margins are just insane too. They use the same set with literally nothing on it besides their little $50 worth of props and the people. It probably takes a crew of 5 people to shoot (since they literally just stand in one place and talk normally) and two or three people to edit the footage (depending on how fast they put stuff out). Their editing isn't even that good like with the ASMR thing they did. I understand they want average people and not actors or people just wanting to get paid for the time filming, but they need to have better prizes and random consolation prizes. $2000 barely makes a dent in anything now.

@@kenos911Jubilee makes around $1.20 per 1000 views. They have over 2 billion video views. Doing some simple math, that means theyve made ~$20 million from their videos (and that isn't including sponsorships, or their other channel, Nectar). We know that Jubilee doesn't have a large staff. Research shows they have approximately 30 employees (though this is including the founders and CEOs), where the director of the operation brings home around $220,000 per year (seems a bit much for a foundation that calls themselves a non profit). They bring in a substantial amount with a small workforce. They can definitely afford to give some more money to these struggling people.

Reading the comments on the original video genuinely made me feel queasy. The amount of victim blaming being heaped on Destiny because she has tattoos/piercings, cried, was a woman, and mentioned she relapsed (which some people assumed the cause of, as if that's possible or in any way their business) is so fucking depressing. I think it is criminal how much addicts get punished for relapsing and needing medical care. This pushes people further into poverty making them homeless and/or more likely to use in order to cope and from increased access. People, especially people as young as Destiny, deserve better.

That's cause jails are private businesses. In return for holding prisoners they get basically free labor. There's a lot of incentive to keep inmates in jail. Some people even genuinely find peace in it since at least in jail you don't have to worry about food or shelter and you can have hobbies in jail. Some have free classes too. Not that it makes up for the otherwise bad conditions and exploration but some people's lives are bad enough that it's a respite.

Jubilee should have given everyone a certain amount of money per brick they had, but add a huge twist of not paying people for the bricks they gave themselves. They should have also given a prize for the person who was the biggest advocate of others and who offered to have their bricks taken away. I realize good people don't expect rewards from doing nice things, but Kat carried this episode and deserved something for being so genuine. This would reward the selfless people and the people who needed it and the game would not be over basically after the first round due to one person who very clearly needed it the most.

It ran from 1940 to 1964, and the basic premise of the show is mothers would plead there case and basically who ever had the worst horror story would win. Things like having a wheelchair for your kid, to just being able to call your deployed husband. The poor are not props, they are not to be fetishized and have their pain be turned into poverty porn. If you are going to turn us into porn you could at least be paying us more for your perverse torture porn you force us to be a part of. The freshman said party. I guess we were too honest and gave the wrong answer because the game show host immediately switched the games to things the freshman would be better at. Something like identifying a fad from two years ago that happened for many high schoolers. This was before tik tok btw, so my friend and I would not know unless we had younger siblings. Anyway, we fought hard but eventually lost. I had never in my life been angry for losing a game and I have never been angry about losing a game since.

That is so stupid and shameless. who in their right mind hears somebody who would use the money (and needs it) to pay rent with the winnings vs someone paying for a random party. Obviously it's fine to go on a game show or play a game for money without needing it, but at the same time have some sympathy.

This video is just sad. We see a bunch of people who are being put down by the terrible capitalistic America we live in and being exploited by Cut for views. People shouldn't have to argue with others about who has it worse off. America should actually take care of it's people and provide things like universal healthcare and liveable wages and free college education if you choose to pursue that.

4:55 That's a good point. I couldn't quite put my finger on why those videos make me uncomfortable, but that's exactly it. Exploitation has been a part of entertainment forever, but it's interesting to see it so clearly here. & even more, that we don't necessarily perceive it like that right away Great commentary as always! Minus the slow-mo asmr 🤢

Honestly this would be better if the money was a higher value. $2000 is arguably not that much money especially when it comes to massive bills these contestants are trying to pay off like college or medical bills. And if the person who won feels guilty about the money and wants to share, they just… can’t really do that. It’s not worth it when tax takes more of the money away. This one hurts on all levels

This is a story about the time my mom sold me to Jordan Adika. My mom and I were in the living room and there was a knock at the door, a tall man in a dark suit with a clip board was in the doorway. My mom motioned him in and I looked at her like ‘wtf’ ? and I noticed he left the door open. (Chekhov’s open door) my mom seemingly signed a paper and then looked at me with tears in her eyes. We had a bad fight last night but I didn’t think she would ever take it this far. The man pulled out his phone to make a call and my mom walked over to me. “What’s going on, mom?” I said frantically with severely furrowed eyebrow. She hugged me and said everything was going to be alright, it’s better this way. Just then another tall man appeared in the open doorway that was left open in the sweltering summer heat. Wait.. I knew this man… it was Jordan Adika! My favorite bushy eyebrowed alien bean from the KZfaq hole that is nickjordanjarvisethancodykelseychadchaddannygabidrew. My mom looked at me again, “honey, I sold you to Jordan Adika.” and then I woke up. Like for part two!

@@malegazeofficial never mind. Someone said it was Destiny who gave away one of her own bricks. That makes more sense to me. @that_deadeyegamer7920 2 жыл бұрын
Debt? Yeah if you're dumb lmao Slavery? No. The amount of people who still sign on for student loans they know they'll never pay is ridiculous, especially since during the last decade, companies have been looking for either experienced slaves who'll work for pennies compared to what they should be making or they reel in the younger crowd with the promise of "on-site training" leaving college as your option if you want to pursue a more professional career where you need to prove your knowledge within the given field. College is as simple as this: If you can afford it, there's not necessarily anything to lose besides your tuition lmao but if you can't afford it yet don't stress, because you'll just end up back at square one, but in debt.

So Charlie's argument did actually make sense based on the words everyone said making it sounds like more bricks is more money(which I don't think that's how it works but it sounds like they think it does) So if that is how they see it the people with bricks get 2 bricks and people without get 0 Then if all 7 have a brick 14 bricks are given next round and 14 bricks are given to destiny next round + the 5 left over bricks for a total of 19 Versus just giving everything to Destiny immediately is 8 bricks that round and 8 bricks the next round for only 16

16:30 There ARE a lot of taxes for game show winnings, BUT if your prize is entirely cash they just take the tax out of the cash. So it's not like you have to pay $300 in tax, they just take tax from the winnings so you get $700 instead of $1000 after paying $300. Depending on the state there may be additional taxes that are taken out, which sucks. I think California is one of the states that doesn't take a lot of extra tax out, though?
