Or when the Universe inevitably dies from a heat death will I still be alive then or will I suffer from the lack of air in deep space bit never actually die, will I even remember my family billions and billions years into the future? One of the things I always loved about the concept of Mutants was their response to the nature of superpowers. For decades in the comics, getting fantastical superpowers was always looked at as an incredible and good thing to get. So many heroes were written to be invulnerable and completely normal despite their abilities. The Mutants were so interesting because they showed for once that getting powers wasn’t always great. A lot of the time, they got the bad end of the stick. They allowed the comic book medium to evolve and pursue a more mature direction.

Yes. I love this take. Its even brought up from time to time among the mutants themselves. Some of them can pass for regular humans and face no stigma whatsoever, but the 'disfigured' ones are constantly seen as disgusting things less than human. It sucks when someone like storm can look at someone like Beak, and say, "i understand how you feel 100% my dude." This has also been a thing in some anime's, like the popular My Hero one.

A few examples that come to mind: Rogue, of course, not being able to make skin contact with friend or foe without making them lose consciousness. Meggan (from Excalibur) being able to shapeshift but she shapeshifts her mentality to match so she isn't really sure of her own identity. Also in Excalibur Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Colossus all were impaired so their powers became even more of a detriment. Shadowcat was in a perpetual phased state. Colossus was stuck in his steel state. And Nightcrawler found it exhausting, sometimes to the point of death, to teleport.

There is a mutant named Matthew Malloy. He can basically warp reality however he pleases and is immortal with the ability to bring himself back to life. He is often considered the single most powerful mortal in the Marvel multiverse. His only weakness is that he has trouble controlling these powers and sometimes activates them accidentally to apocalyptic results.
@luckyy369110 ай бұрын
Then how is he considered a mortal of he's immortal? 🤣
@british_knight10 ай бұрын
He also suffered from mental health issues as a result of seeing his powers go out of control so often which ironically only made the stability of his powers worse. It got so bad that in the end he nearly erased all the X-Men, so a young student of Xaviers school who could travel in time travelled back to when Xavier was still alive (he was dead at the time) and told him what was happening. Xavier revealed he knew who Matthew was and had been keeping an eye in him and suppressing his abilities as best he could (meaning his powers going so badshit in the present was partially because Xavier was dead and not helping him control them from the shadows). Seeing no other options, Xavier and the student go back even further in time, and Xavier influences Matthew's parents to never meet, so he is never born.

Ultimate Nick Fury sent Logan because in this world mutants are even worst off than in 616 (like you could openly kill mutants). He was trying to stave off a mutant war, and figured a town being wiped out by a mutant would cause it. Even Nick Fury seemed bummed about it.
@paireon341910 ай бұрын
@@TonyTylerDraws Yeah, the Ultimate Universe was fukken miserable by the end. About the only upside is that Ultimate Reed Richards dropped the "hero" façade and became the villain he really is. (Don't believe me that 616 Reed's a villain? He's actually paid MILLIONS every year by megacorps to not solve problems like pollution, climate change, overconsumption of ressources and world hunger, because it would impact their bottom line. What makes me sad about forget me not, is that he was goven the chance to remove his mutant powers. But instead of taking it he actually keeps his powers. His reasoning is that he could help his friends way more with it and that he didnt care if they forget him. He only really cared about the good he cpuld use it for.

Forgetmenot is a fascinating character who also serves as an important plot hole filler, he’s basically the “a wizard did it” excuse but it makes sense within canon. He also has the potential to be one of the most powerful villains in the marvel universe, a comic about him going through a villain arc in an alternate timeline would be really cool to see.

I'm sure for some meta reason, it wouldn't work. Like, say Scott (Cyclops) follows him after meeting him. FMN posts up he wants to play poker. Scott gets the alert, reads it, then forgets he read it, and the message is left on read. FMN shows up to play poker, and Scott has no idea who he is, and was in the middle of another dick-waving contest with Logan over Jean Grey, and Jean got fed up with their homoerotic bickering, and already left, depriving FMN of the one mutant that might correct Scott the right/sane way.
