This is Mali, land of sand, salt, and nomads. With many different regions and distinct cultures, Mali is the eighth largest country on the African continent. Landlocked, it stretches from the subtropical Niger River Valley in the south to the arid Sahara desert in the north. Follow along with nature photographer Art Wolfe, as he starts off in the Rocky Cliffs of the Dogan country then descends into the lush Niger River Valley before heading north to the Sahara by way of Timbuktu.
Wolfe then continues on with his adventure, heading to Falkland Islands and the Antarctic coast in search of wildlife, the unbelievable Pantanal in Brazil, one of the worlds largest wetlands and home to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on the planet, and finally to Togo and Benin, the birthplace of voodoo to see villages known for their vibrant inhabitants and intense rituals.
