Just went 5-0 with this deck into 3 Esper control match ups... As soon as the Devious Coverups came out ... Rope. Rope for days. Never been roped so much in my life! Salt truly is a wincon.

16 white sources are needed to consistently have WW up by turn 4 (for emperor/depopulate). With only 13 unconditional sources, this deck is reliant on demolition field / field of ruin / mirrex and draw to get there, which is pretty tenuous vs. aggro. Would definitely add 2 white sources.

I've seen it now a few times, so I wanted to strongly advise to not run Demolition Field instead of Field of Ruin. There are fringe cases where you want to force your opponent to shuffle their library (e.g. after a scry) and while Field of Ruin forces them to do it, Demolition Field does not. That is disadvantage of Demolition Field that is currently just not necessary to have, as long as Field of Ruin is in Standard.

It's more of a general suggestion. In CGB's case I would argue that he runs too much of these lands overall. He has eight lands that cannot produce a color (if you include Mirrex), almost a third of his total mana base.

In Bo1 with an aggressive format I would think you’d include more incidental life gain sources. Sunset is a house in these kinds of decks, and more of the 1 drop removals - it offsets the tap lands. I also think mirrex is explicitly bad in these kinds of decks. MAYBE a one-of, but mirrex offsets your draw-go strategy in the early game by not providing colored mana.

It does provide colored mana the turn you play it, which is often enough to get a draw spell off to hit the colored lands

I've been playing this and had to tweak the mana. So many colorless sources and if you are playing against mono-colored you can't sac the Fields to get a basic. Otherwise, fun deck

I realized the other day why CGB doesn't like limited. It's not because of low power levels like he says. It's because control is rarely a viable strategy in limited unless you get realm lucky. Lol. Still my favorite content creator!

Sorry for asking questions :(, but I'm curious about the play at around 5:19, not sure if you didn't see the same play as I did or if you conisdered your play better. What I thought you were going to do is let the Virtue be, wait for the angel to attack, kill the Binding, exile the angel and then Virtue is back to useless, and you remain with two responses in hand to solve it if it got dangerous later.

@@honestabe411 The guys winning pro tours and tournaments are usually 30-40 years old, incredibly intelligent, and haven't been playing control decks in the past 3 years. CGB has said many times over the past couple of years that control hasn't been competitive and doesn't hold up against the current meta. I get that it's easy to say "mono red easy", when in reality, it's powerful and wins often.

At 9:46 I don’t get why you wouldn’t get lost the Atraxa before attacking with the 7/7 token, taking them down to 6 health. Instead you attack, they block with the atraxa and go back to 20 life..?

The only control I hate most is the mill type. I started when stasis was the control with force of will and winters orb omg I hated that deck with a passion, then they made chronotog and that was at least a faster way to die lol. Anyway have fun in Florida!!

azorious control gotta be one of the most toxic decks in the game, i run a couple of kutzils flankers in my human deck too beat this shit, nothing is more fun than let them sunfall my board on turn 5, do the "good game" emote so they think they won, then you flash out a huge flanker and smash their ass into oblivion while you taunt them ingame, probably shoulda teched to beat mono-red instead but smashing these piece of shit decks gives me so much satisfaction
