I love the whole set up between Bugs and Sam. Watching Sam build the bomb inside the piano, lugging it up the stairs and then being so exasperated when Bugs doesn't blow up.

You're overthinking it. These cartoons never bother with representing the piano accurately. When Bugs hits the C key, on his first attempt it plays a C#. On his second attempt, however, the same C-key plays a D#. The piano isn't out of tune, he is simply playing it wrong. The fact the correct note is a C and he happens to strike the C-key (playing the wrong tone), is just coincidence.

There was another Bugs Vs. Daffy cartoon where they used the gag too. I forget what it was called, but it used the traditional piano setup. There's another video here on KZfaq that shows both of the Bugs & Daffy segments and the Private Snafu one, but not the others shown in this video.
