LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! It's you and Jeff of Instinctive Addition that I watch. You are a very intelligent and skilled archer, and a no - nonsense, practical kind of guy. You are right about the 3rd shot being the toughest!! I simply quit doing the third shot and instead move to a different target to get rid of frustration! 😆 I have a question about this Sanlida RX8 recurve: Do you think I can draw it to 31 inches, or 31.5 inches without it stacking? Also, you live in Europe don't you, which country? I visited Spain last month.
@peterjuulsgaard3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Well I wouldent draw the Royal X8 31-32” It would be a stacking bastard😊 It can be done, but it have quite short limbs, and a relatively long riser, so it would be best suited for max 29” draw. Regardless of what Sanlida may say, this is my realistic opinion. Try shift to one arrow at the time. It will improve your accuracy and confidence. In 3d and in hunting scenarios it’s the first arrow that counts anyway. I’m from Denmark Scandinavia.

Hello, Greatplains bow has made a review on this bow. According to them, there is a dacron string. They told me: "Well if it's a D97 string there will be failures on that bow. Solid wood tips. No reinforcement".
@peterjuulsgaard4 ай бұрын
Yes I saw that, but that doesent Change that Sanlida say it’s a D97
@fabienlarcher45524 ай бұрын
@@peterjuulsgaard But no reinforcement does not reassure me. The bow rope is very thick at the loops?
@peterjuulsgaard4 ай бұрын
Well I don’t know wether it’s D97 or Dacron. But I’m using the original string. I’m alså using FF strings on my selfbows. As long you use a resonable arrow weight it also helps. Remember this bow have a great performance with the string that comes with the bow. If that’s a Dacron it’s even more credit to the bow

Peter, when deer can hear sounds far better than we ever can, what difference does it make if the bow twangs, thumps, squeaks, moans or rattles?? The deer have already heard the string release and are moving even before the arrow clears the shelf! I've watched a lot of bow hunting videos and kept an eye on the deer's reaction time and noise from the shooter and in every case this is true. Very good review on a nice looking bow Peter. Cheers from Downunda! :)

How do you think it compares to the flatbow ? Any stacking ? Smoother, or little more twitchy ? You proved beyond any doubt that a good archer can get good results even with modest kit. A lot of people I know buy fancy gear and get discouraged at mediocre results, but fail to aknowledge their part.
@peterjuulsgaard10 ай бұрын
It’s more smooth than the longbow/flatbow no doubt. No hand shock. The longbow have some hand shock. Man! A brewer once told me that bad ale didn’t exist. Just some better than other. It’s never the bow which are causing the problems

I have the Royal X8 Longbow 68" already and love it. Would like to get the Royal X8 One-Piece Traditional Recurve 60", but am concerned about the 60" length. I am 6'3" tall and have a 29" draw...would this stake to much for me or would this still be okay? Also, would I have any finger pinch...I shoot split finger.
@peterjuulsgaard5 ай бұрын
I would say 29 is okay. A tip would be to go a little lower on the brace height. They reccomend 7-8” so if you set it at 7” 29 would not be a problem. I shoot 3 under and have always done, so I cant tell wether there are fingerpinch or not. But the bow is tillered for split finger shooting

Where are you measuring draw length from? It looks like you're measuring it from the deepest part of the handle and not the front of the cut out? It'd be interesting to see what sort of arrow speed you're getting when you shoot it through the chronograph? Just looking at the limbs, it doesn't look like you are getting the same draw length as the bench test? The draw weight at your full draw would also be interesting. Also, have you measured the tiller? And if so what is it?
@peterjuulsgaard9 ай бұрын
Drawlenght on the bench is 28” measured from the deepest “throut” of the handle or pivot point. Plus 1.75” to get out to the cut out. My drawlenght when I shoot is 27” so you figured that out right. You dont have to see the speed when I shoot, cause thats 8-10 fps less than on the bench, because the one inch lesser drawlenght. The test is performed at 28”, cause thats what the bow is marked at. Tiller is split finger
@space.youtube9 ай бұрын
@@peterjuulsgaard Yes I heard you say that it's "tillered for split finger", but what I wanted to know was how much positive tiller it has, in mm or fractions of an inch. In regards to the question about where you're measuring 28" from on your draw board, I suppose a better question would be if that's where Sanlida measures draw length from too, and whether your experiment is an apples for apples comparison? The reason I thought it would be interesting to see what sort of arrow speed you were getting with your draw length is because it would give an indication of the speed drop off for a shorter draw length. Some bows are better than others in this respect. Not to worry, excellent video with plenty of info all the same. PS Nice shooting too.
@peterjuulsgaard9 ай бұрын
I think Sanlida measure from the same point. I was hitting 45,3 on the 28” on the bench so think we are in the right area. The tiller is 8 mm positive with the fade outs. I’m planning to hunt with this one later this season. Thanks for watching

One thing I always wonder about, is if strand count affects speed. Like is a 12 strand D97 faster than a 16 strand D97?
@peterjuulsgaard5 ай бұрын
Technically the 12 strand is faster. But you propably need a shooting machine to see it, cause it’s not much. Maybe 1 or 2 fps
@jacobwilliams52715 ай бұрын
@@peterjuulsgaard There is no one on KZfaq that has done that type of test with a shooting machine, could be a good video idea for you. There is an online calculator that say the difference between a 6 strand string, and a 20 strand string is close to 14 fps.
@peterjuulsgaard5 ай бұрын
@@jacobwilliams5271 yeah but there is also 12 strand in between. I have tried with 14 and 16 strand and there isn’t any noticable difference. Maybe 1 fps. But again thats not easy to notice on an actual shot. maybe I’ll test it some day.

@peterjuulsgaard10 ай бұрын
I think that two fletchings will work just fine, as long the spine of the shaft fits the bow. Problem could be to shoot the feather to nose technique, like I do. Because you then have one feather in and one feather out
