This is a perfect example of why farmers can do just about anything themselves. They have to out of necessity. They cannot always afford or wait to call someone to fix everything or to build everything so they learn to do it for themselves. Grayce is no exception. Good job, girl! BTW, look at those guns that girl has! Those do not come from being lazy!

My Dad worked as a mechanic in his teens that specialized in engine overhauls ( yes, they did that back then ). They didn’t even know what a torque wrench was. Dad worked for this 1 man operation for 5 or 6 years, and the people still brought their engines in for an overhaul - hit and miss engines, elevator engines, tractors, trucks( they primarily used car engines) cars, etc, with no torque wrench. That last overhaul I saw him do, I asked him about a torque wrench, and torquing rod bolts, head, and the likes thereof, the answer I got was “ I’ve been doing this for years, and I’ve never had one come back, so why do I need a torque wrench now. This was the age of the old farmer.

So Grayce has five brothers and works a farm, fixes anything. Talk about non frilly and low maintenance. I should have moved to Kentucky with all my millions, volunteered as a business teacher at the local high school. Gone to the local picnics and things and searched out this type of girl. What a mom, buddy, babe, and can you imagine having her lying next to you at night. One of God’s masterpieces.

Funny you say you didn't plan on getting dirty. I'd swear I am a dirt magnet. I service my front brakes and had grease up to my elbows and face was black. Great job Grayce.

Oh gosh you had me cracking up at the torque wrench comment. Like you, I've been working on all kinds of equipment since I was old enough to turn a wrench. Very seldom do I use a torque wrench. There's probably a torque spec for every nut, bolt, and screw on that truck but mostly they're not very important. A little experience and common sense will tell you just fine how tight to make nearly everything. A few exceptions are head bolts, bearing cap bolts, flywheel bolts and things of that nature. They can be a little fussier. I carry a torque wrench in my truck always but only really use it deep in the internals of something. Just keep rolling like you are. You got your head on straight. And feel free to send some of that rain our way. We're dry as a popcorn fart here. Take care Grayce.

I don't worry about using a tourqe wrench on certain small jobs either, spin enough bolts you will know if it feels right.

I love how you think. I've always thought of problems as Opertunaties for Salutoins. Like a jig saw puzzle one peice at a time or a sercute board . Puzzles are more fun if you get a cool looking picture when your done. A well running Tractor or Implement helps everyone put dinner on the table. 😁😁😁 think possative happy thoughts 👍

You where talking about hydraulic leaks, I remember how we had an old Sperry New Holland 1118 hay swather, I remember this leak with hydraulic pump caused the machine to catch fire, then the flames reached the fuel tank and it just exploded, and it burned the whole hay field and started the neighbors house on fire. That's why I have zero tolerance for hydraulic leaks because I've seen first hand how bad it can get.
