I grew up running a 1466 and 766. The 5488 MFWD was my dream tractor, but have driven one. You are so lucky.

Glad your dad caught that fire in time to save the tractor. I've had 2 close calls with fires on combines myself. Gotta keep your head or you can lose it all. Good thing your dad is an observant operator. Them animal nests get in the darndest places sometimes. I once had the air cleaner on a tractor completely stuffed with mouse nests. Poor tractor couldn't breathe! Glad you got some field work done. Thanks and take care Grayce.

I think that they should buy a decent sized ABC fire extinguisher (10 lb) and bolt it onto that tractor to be ready if that ever happens again! Home Depot sells them for only $70. Cheap insurance! Glad that her dad was drinking a Coke at the time!

Yep this is the time of year you check for birds nests, they can be really tricky where they build them LOL, I have seen more than one fire started in the most obscure places well, I drove for Refrigerated Transport company every year we have bird's nest catching on fire on the refrigerated reefer units, another great video, makes me miss the farm even more!

YES! My brother and I used to have one of those go-karts @10:15 when we were kids!!! Just a flat metal sled with a 4hp motor. No safety equipment necessary.

You should get a fire extinguisher for every piece of equipment. You never know when a fire can happen. We were planting but it rained Saturday and this morning a little . I was able to work ground with our 50 foot cultivator so we can plant some tomorrow before it rains in the evening. I don't mind tillage but I'd rather be planting beans . Great video keep up the good work!

Grayce you are absolutely hilariously funny, you could easily charge money for these videos. The battle that farmers have with their pickups is never ending, watching you rolling around in the grass (wasn't that itchy ?) trying to get that muffler off was priceless. I loved seeing you standing in front of your truck holding your trophy for all to see. Beautiful face and a warm loving smile. A lot more people should be watching and enjoying your videos, I'm glad I decided to take a look at the crazy girl who dyed her hair red, it's been fun. I drove a 5488 in the summer of 1981 pulling a pea combine. Low range, low gear , 0.5 mph for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for 6 weeks. Lost track of the days. Used to wrap bratwurst in foil and cook them on the exhaust manifold. At that speed you didn't even have to stop the tractor to hop out, open the side hood to put them in or grab them out.

Them exhaust bolts put up a fight indeed, replaced my exhaust on my 4Runner and used an impact gun, breaker bar and a can of pb blaster 😆

The farm I grew up on had a 5288 2wd which I used to drive aged 13 as a summer job in school holidays in the UK..it was new and had the western interior..It was joined by a 4wd 5288 with a plain interior....it just never felt as special lol

Lesson learned, pro work, hood up, fluid, belts, check, lites, check, and always a fire extinguisher. To many year doing maintenance, fixing, accident investigating, safety, even your PU, Cars, kitchen, shop, garage needs them, cheap too.

I know all about a tractor about going up in smoke...bearing went out in the pickup on a 568 jd rd baler....i managed to get the pin out and drop the baler but 97 bales and 35 acres went up....

Is it disc or disk? As a kid on our small farm, we never knew the correct terminology for many of the implements. As we irrigated some of our land, we called that implement a ditcher as it made irrigation ditches or a push as we pushed large amounts of dirt/soil/earth before learning it was called a rear blade. Keep up the great work.

Good vid I like the fast motion for muffler removal and disking! I see you don’t mind getting your hands dirty! Do you ever use gloves? Not just for the dirt but some day it could save a nasty cut or pinch.

That would really suck if it had burned. How were the birds getting in? Around the exhaust? I had a 3288 and I can't think where it was large enough for them to get in there as long as the side panels were on. Add a steering wheel spinner to the steering wheel - so much nicer for quick turning at the head lands or where you're in a tight area especially backing up.
