Personally Imola 94 is by far the scariest and darkest day in F1 history. 2 driver fatalities in 1 weekend was just horrific.

@@drewgriffithsfm I'd like to add Zandvoort 1973, Roger Williamsson crashed and David Purley parked his car to help out, trying to flag down other drivers to help out, the other drivers thought that it was Davids car that was on fire and since there wasn't a red flag, they simply drove past the accident. If even 1 or 2 drivers had stopped, they could've maybe overturned Williamssons car and gotten him out since their suits were more fireproof than the marshalls. But instead they had to live with the fact that they drove past a man who was slowly suffocating to death, and they didn't find out until after he died.

I've been an F-1 fan since the late 60's early 70's so I remember the times when drivers were killed regularly. Grosjean said that 28 seconds seemed like a minute 30 but to me watching the race live it seemed much longer than that. I still actually shuddered writing this. Miracle he made it out.

As a spectator of F1 since 1963, I can assure you this is certainly not the scariest day in F1 neither was Imola 1994 but they were tragic. Unfortunately I have watched multiple drivers burn to death and being decapitated. Cars flew off the track into the trees lining the circuit killing the driver and so on. No barriers back then. Today F1 is unbelievably safe, in the past Grosjean would most likely not have survived the initial impact let alone the fire. I will add all lives lost in sport are tragic, and to the various F1 influencers, please do not make tragedy a competition.

3:50 That has got to be the most terrifying part of a slow death. Just finally accepting your fate, and just giving up. But at the same time; it would kind of be like this huge weight was lifted off of your shoulders. You no longer have to worry about the next rent, or the next race, or what you are going to do if you get fired. You are just at peace with the fact that this is your last moment on this planet.

A horrific crash and Romain survived. What if he was knocked unconscious from the 67G impact? Could he have been saved? Romain saved himself to a great degree, unbuckling his seat belt and getting out then assisted by race staff. It was a horrifying moment, a feeling of certain death and like a miracle he was alive escaping. The Halo’s biggest test for safety and great example it works. We have seen it work protecting driver heads and necks when cars fall on top of each other but this crash was extraordinary. Romain is alive due to the Halo. It probably would have saved Jules Bianchi.

Everyone praises the halo but it very near killed him that day too, its the reason he was stuck. The rail was over the top of the halo, cutting the escape in half. He initially tried to get out the smaller side and couldnt. If the car had penetrated just an inch or two less, it would have trapped him there.

If the HALO isn't there, his head will be crush when the cockpit hit the barrier. The HALO was tearing the barrier apart and make enough space for the cockpit to slide under barrier. Believe me, that helmet looks strong. But it's won't start any chance when the F1 crash into steel-barrier at 119mph. The HALO did tear the steel-barrier apart. That's the thing we cannot deny.
@NomadUniverse
@NomadUniverse 4 күн бұрын
@@phucthinhnguyen5633 and I dont, but as I explained, and as Romain explained, the guard rail was over the top of the cockpit, dividing the exit space in two, just mere inches from trapping him in the fire. It didnt happen this time and I think if you ask anyone they would take instant death over being cooked alive over several minutes, but there will come a time when it does cause further injury or death. It amost trapped Hamilton in his car at Monza, Verstappen's rear wheel was very close to being cradled in the halo. Halo is only a bandaid solution. Many other areas could be improved and make it redundant.

The Scariest Day In Formula 1 History is a bit of a stretch. There were many other accidents that marked the history of F1. Like for example, May 1994. 2 dead drivers, 1 injured driver and several wounded mechanics. Niki Lauda's crash in 1976, or the deaths of Tim Pryce and steward Jansen van Vuuren in 1977.

Horrible, horrible accident. For me personally an accident like this was the reason I initially had reservations regarding the Halo. A driver trapped in his burning car unable to get out because the Halo blocked what little room he would have had to get out. After this race I realised, while this might be a possibility, there is also the possibility he wouldnt have any survival room without the Halo in the first place.
@phucthinhnguyen5633

I think you might not watch all simulation of this accident. If the HALO is not there, the helmet gonna take all damage when the cockpit slides under the barrier. The HALO is the thing that tearing the steel barrier and prevent serious damage for the helmet, if the helmet hit the steel barrier - Grosjean's head will be crush!! Look at the HALO!! Don't you see it's tearing apart like that?! The HALO is titanium dude!! The helmet won't start a chance at all.
